Google Doodle For John Wisden And Bible Of Cricket

On the English cricketer's 187th birthday, Google had a yellow and red doodle to mark the day.

John Wisden lives in the memory of cricket fans even today thanks to the 'Bible of Cricket' he started way back in 1864 after his retirement from first class cricket.

The book which the Englishman first brought out is now a cricket reference book that is published annually in England, every year now and the annual book is considered the world's most famous sports reference book. In 2013, the 150th edition of the book was published.

Wisden who made his debut for Sussex at 18, was born in Brighton on September 5, 1826. Google to commemorate Wisden's 187th birthday made a doodle using the typical front cover font of the 'Bible of Cricket' also called the 'Wisden Cricketers' Almanack' against the famous yellow background that has been used on every edition cover since 1938.

The doodle features a famous woodcut of two Victorian gentlemen playing a cricket match by Eric Ravilious which regularly appeared on covers till 2003. The picture was replaced after that by a photograph of a cricketer who played well in that year.

Wisden played 187 first-class cricket matches for Kent, Middlesex and Sussex, and was also nicknamed 'The Little Wonder.' Cricket legend holds that he was one of the best all-rounders of his time.

At the age of 57, Wisden died of cancer in London but thanks to his 'Bible of Cricket' or the 'Wisden Cricketers' Almanack' his name and legacy lives on in the cricket world.

Rishi Kapoor' Journey In Bollywood Rememebered On His Birthday

Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, who turned 61 on Wednesday, has entertained his fans over the years with comedy and romantic roles. Here's looking at the ageless entertainer's 10 best films:

Mera Naam Joker (1970): This is where Rishi Kapoor's astounding journey as a star-actor began. Playing an adolescent who has a serious crush on his school teacher (Simi Garewal), Rishi, at 14, won his first National Film Award. Looking at his performance, under father Raj

Kapoor's direction, even today you feel that he got the confusions of sexual awakening in his character dead right.

Bobby (1973): From here onwards Rishi's struggle to make his presence felt in heroine-oriented film began. Whether it was “Bobby” or “Barood” (1976), the directors focused on the heroine, while Rishi made his presence felt as best as he could. While Dimple Kapadia played the author-backed role in “Bobby”, Rishi was amazing in his confidence level while portraying the rich, introvert and neglected child of irresponsible parents.

Rafoo Chakkar (1975): Delightful in drag, Rishi simply stole the show with Paintal playing his farcical foil. And yes, wife Neetu Singh was around too. Narendra Bedi directed this enjoyable desi version of “Some Like It Hot”. Amazingly, decades later Paintal son Hiten Paintal played Rishi's son Ranbir's pal in “Bachna Ae Haseeno” (2008). But the chemistry was not the same.

Laila Majnu (1976): One of Rishi's greatest performances. As the legendary lover, he absolutely lived the pain, agony and suffering of the character in the sand dunes of Rajasthan. H.S. Rawail directed this film. Madan Mohan songs like “Barbaad-e-mohabbat ki dua saath liye ja” were put across by Rishi with intense passion. Simply breathtaking.

Amar Akbar Anthony (1977): Playing Akbar in the film where Amitabh Bachchan's Anthony clearly had an edge, Rishi's qawwallis “Parda hai parda” and “Taiyyab ali pyar ka dushman” stole the show. No matter how brief his role, Rishi always has fun with it.

Sargam (1979): Armed with a dafli and oozing a rustic charm as a love-smitten villager, who wants nothing but to see the object of his adoration (actress Jaya Prada) happy, Rishi re-defined the do-gooder hero's space in Hindi cinema by making the character believable and vulnerable. Another very accomplished performance.

Karz (1980): The ultimate rockstar act in the fulsome musical by Subhash Ghai. No one could take to the dance floor the way he did. Not even his very talented son. In this film on the theme of reincarnation, Rishi took sweet revenge on his school teacher from “Mera Naam Joker” Simi.

Prem Rog (1982): Another heroine-centric film where director Raj Kapoor focused entirely on young widow Padmini Kolhapure’s plight. And yet as her silent supporter and sympathiser, Rishi excelled far beyond the script. Watch his expressions during the song “Yeh pyar tha ya kuch aur tha” during Padmini's marriage. You'd know why many consider Rishi the best actor of the Kapoor clan.

Ek Chadar Maili Si (1986): One of Rishi's most underrated performances, here he was cast as Triloka, a rustic Punjabi youngster forced to marry his Bhabhi (sister-in-law) Hema Malini who is 10 years his senior. Adapted from literateur Rajinder Singh Bedi's short story, this bold film remains memorable for giving Rishi a chance to explore something beyond his usual rom-com space.

Khoj (1989): At a time when he played loverboy roles, Rishi took a grand risk with this role of a man who murders his own wife. But shhhh! We don't know that until the end. And as we all know, 'The End' is a long way off from Rishi's exceptional career.

We get along well - Nargis Fakhri

The fuming reports about the relationship between Shahid Kapoor and Nargis Fakhri might just slow down as Nargis has come out for the clarification. She is not happy with her being linked with the actor but she admires him as a person and really finds his company worth it! Now, we can understand it is a bit confusing and still opens the area where Shahid can become the man of her life, but she says he isn't at the moment!

"I find the dating rumours really amusing. People call me to tell about whom am I dating now. Shahid is a very caring and down to earth person. We get along well and that’s all." Nargis says, when the media caught up the chance to have talk with her and questioned her about the recent rumors. The recent threads in daily did say that it was Shahid time in Nargis's life, both were seen quite often around the parties and events.

Nargis was one of the few guests who did actually fly along with Shahid to Goa for his birthday party. This had shown the smoke and the later spottings at Mumbai restaurants had started the speculations. Nargis, who entered the industry at the age of 32, through 'Rockstar' had a good run at the box office. Although there were rumors that she was keeping away from Ranbir and Imtiaz, she plainly disagrees this fact "Yes I am still in touch with Ranbir and Imtiaz Ali as well. However, life has become so busy that it’s tough to catch up with friends regularly. After a hectic day when I reach home, I am already too tired to call up anyone."

Nargis did not disclose her future projects and she said she is waiting for a better project than Rockstar, since the movie has already laid a great standard for herself in the industry. Although she had a great run as a model in the showbiz, she says she still feels nervous when it comes to facing the mob "Nothing can prepare you for this. I still get very nervous when I have to face a lot of people. It freaks me out to see so many people in front of me, calling out my name," she says.

We will wait for your new project and also will wait on what becomes of your Shahid Story ;-)

SRK praises Gaga, calls her philosophical

SRK was busy promoting his movie Ra.One and as a part of this he had also attended the F1 GP held at Buddh circuit in Delhi. This was the same venue where Lady Gaga had performed. Lady Gaga did the grand performance on the final day of the race.

Recalling the party memoirs, SRK said "Lady Gaga is just 25 years old girl and she is so inspiring. Young girls should read what she writes other than the songs she does. She is as philosophical as I am. We connected very well with each other on those lines. I love her life's philosophy. I love the way she likes to keep her personal life away from the whole pop star aura she has."

When asked about Shahrukh's plans of going bollywood, he said "Let our films go to Hollywood, we are already doing a decent job".

After addressing the media, SRK climbed the fences at 'Mannat' just to oblige the diehard fans of SRK who had assembled to celebrate his birthday. He did show the enthusiasm like a 20 year old, he also asked the DJ to play 'Chammak Challo' for the fans and did dance for them too.

SRK turned 46 yesterday, Shah Rukh, the superstar was no less an entertainer than the very popular pop star Lady Gaga!

Shahrukh sheds tears on his birthday

hahrukh Khan, the King Khan as the world knows him has been a tremendous actor. He has done every genre of movies and he had put his effort to the full for each of his movies which has done wonders to the industry and himself. One true actor who can be proud that he gave his 100% to reach at the top of the ladder and to enjoy the life he has at the moment.

The actor celebrated his birthday here at Mannath, on 2nd November 2011, he was so overwhelmed by the fans and their celebrations that he went out to the floor of manath, his home in mumbai and waved for his fans. He later tweeted: "Was so touched when I reached home from bathing...sooo many people waiting outside the house and sang happy birthday for me. Had tears in my eyes. Going to sleep now...this birthday will celebrate with a well deserved many hours of sleep...thanx for ur wishes. Don't feel older or wiser..". Shahrukh turned 46  this year.

"When I was a kid...I used to tie a towel on my neck... wear my sister's tights and my red swimming trunks on top, eye mask and wanted to fly. I loved comic superheroes and films like 'Teesri Akan', 'Paras Mani'. I always had this desire to do superhero films," Shahrukh had said.

His latest movie did accomplish this desire of his, as Ra.One is most loved by kids and the best sci-fi super hero ever touching the industry. We only wish it did have a better director and a much better script to support the hardwork and money that SRK had put into it.

The upcoming movie Don 2 is directed by Farhan Akhtar, yet another great flick and expected to be a blockbuster!
