Rowdy Rathore in Centurion Gang - Sequel in the list

Rowdy Rathore has been yet another successful run for Prabhudeva as a filmmaker and a superhit for Akshay after a long wait. The movie is still grossing and as per the collection records it has already crossed the 100 crore mark. It is one of the first movies from UTV and Sanjay Leela Bhansali to reach the 100 crore mark. The film has collected $2,676,432 from the overseas market at the end of the ninth day.

Although Rowdy did face a challenge with 'Shanghai', but to Rowdy's luck the movie 'Shanghai' is yet to connect with the audience as it made only Rs. 3crore in the opening day and 12 crores by the end of the week. Distributor Rajesh Thadani from Mumbai says, “Shanghai has collected Rs 12 crore on the weekend. It had a good start but it was below our expectations. Given the reviews and star value of the actors, we expected it to reach at least Rs 20 crore as the film has released in 1,200 screens.”

A distributor from Kolkata claims, “From the 65 centres that the film is being screened, over the weekend the film has collected Rs 70 lakh which is a good number for Bengal territory. But only the Monday figures will be able to tell if the film will earn money for its distributors or not.”

The Rowdy team is celebrating their success and is also planning a prequel to the movie, if the rumors are to be believed. According to a source, an announcement about the prequel to the film is likely to be made at the success party of the film that has done great business.

“The party is being held this Friday and the prequel will most probably be announced there,” says the source.

With the success of Rowdy Rathore, Akshay joins the team of Khan trio, Salman, Shah Rukh, Aamir, Ajay Devgn and Hrithik Roshan who has already broken the Rs. 100 crore marks.

Rowdy Rathore also had competition from Hollywood movies like 'Prometheus' and 'Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted'. Madagascar is said to be doing a better business that Prometheus but still it doesn't affect the collections for Rowdy Rathore.
