Mahesh Bhatt, Subhash Ghai = Casting Couch - true??

Well, atleast the columnist Suhel Seth says it is! Although it was a open secret in the industry the names that have been pulled up by Suhel seems to be grabbing attention, as it is for the first time Mahesh Bhatt is being accused of something of this nature. Subash Ghai had already been in news with a foreign actress mentioning him in her book. The recent observation was made by Suhel Seth, who is also a well known TV personality that the Ghai's and Bhatt's should get out of their casting couches and give opportunity to the better script writers!

This was following the video which was uploaded on May 16th by the columnist who had all praises for Kahaani, which he had recently viewed. He was impressed with the performances and was more happy to find the plot and the style of narration. He has mentioned Sujoy Gosh's talents in many portions and he adds that Vidya Balan is not the only reason he loved the movie, but he was amazed with the way the film had been shot and its brilliant plot.

After he lauds Sujoy Ghosh for the film, he goes ahead and adds, “My appeal to all the Mahesh Bhatts and Subhash Ghais and all the titans would be to get off your casting couch - you`ve been there, done her - and start investing in people who can write good scripts.”

This has turned up as a stir to the industry. Although both Mahesh Bhatt and Subhash Ghai has went ahead declining all claims by Suhel, it is still a mystery which needs to be unveiled. We have seen many actors and lead actresses talk about it in hush, but no one has dared to speak it out.

This time it is much more serious since the honchos of  Bollywood are being brought into the picture! We will still have to wait on what comes of it, or as usual it may precipitate without making much of a talk. Well, truth doesn't stay covered...!

Ranbir Kapoor declines Subhash Ghai's offer

Even after Subhash Ghai requested Rishi Kapoor to convince Ranbir Kapoor to sign his next movie, Ranbir denied.

Subhash Ghai is making another film after Yuvvraaj which was released 3 years back, a youthful musical romance with a dose of comedy and action and the filmmaker was really keen to cast Ranbir Kapoor.

In fact, he also tried to seek help from Rishi Kapoor to try and convince Ranbir to sign for the film. However, Ranbir denied by giving a reason of 'THE DATE ISSUE'.

After Yuvvraaj which was released in the year 2008, starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif which flopped at the box-office, the filmmaker opted to take it easy, preferring to oversee his productions for a while. However, none of the films like Paying Guests, Kashmakash and Love Express got any notice on release. And then, Subhash Ghai himself fell ill and was diagnosed with and treated for gall-bladder stones last September.

A source said, "Subhashji felt that since they've done films like Karz before, Rishi would help get Ranbir on board. However, Ranbir conveyed that he's already committed to films helmed by Anurag Basu, Ayaan Mukherji and Anurag Kashyap. So he has no dates for months to fit in Subhashji's film."

Now its is said that Subhash Ghai wants Imran Khan to do the role and he is waiting for him to return from Rajkot, where he's shooting for Vishal Bhardwaj's next.

Subhash Ghai said, "Though I like both the actors, neither have I a script nor have I offered them any film at any point in time. So the question of declining doesn't arise."

Sholay wont go 3D

The famous movie Sholay was all set to be remade in 3D and it was reported that Ketan Mehta's Maya Digital, was given the project by Mukhta Arts for making this project reality. But the latest news is that the team has dropped the project due to the family fights in Sippy family.

This is the second project from the Sippys that has run into rough weather owing to the problems in their family. Earlier, producer GP Sippy's son Suresh raised an objection against GP Sippy's grandsons Sascha and Shaan, claiming that they had no right to license the remake rights of Seeta Aur Geeta to Sunil Bohra (Mumbai Mirror, February 7, 2011).

Suresh has raised an objection this time around as well. While Sascha Sippy remained unavailable for comment, Suresh Sippy told Mumbai Mirror, "How can Ghai convert Sholay into 3D when we Sippys are in a legal conflict? My lawyer spoke to Ghai and told him about the same. And well, I don't know anything about Maya Digital's plans. Negative kahan hai unke paas? Yes, Sascha has the rights of Sholay but I also sent a message across to Sascha not to entertain any such proposals."

But it is reported from close sources of Ramesh Sippy, who had originally produced the movie, that he is keen on the project and has no problems with rights. But the project seems to be already dropped, when Subhash Ghai, the head honcho of Mukhta Arts, was asked about the project he replied "I am not associated with Sholay getting converted into 3D. I am just a stakeholder in Maya Digital. As far as I am concerned, the matter ended some six months ago."

However, Maya Digital's head, Ketan Mehta refused to comment on it and his wife mentioned that they did have another 10 projects working at the moment and she cannot comment on it as there is a Non-Disclosure agreement with the clients.
