Ram-Leela Banned In UP; Still Grosses 93.58 Crores Globally

Even the name change has not helped "Goliyon Ki Rasleela, Ram-Leela". The latest ruling by Allahabad High Court has come in banning the movie from being screened in Uttar Pradesh. The controversial dialogues and few scenes has been cited as the reason for why the movie will be banned.

The Lucknow bench of the court comprising justices Devi Prasad Singh and Ashok Pal Singh passed the order to ban the film on a petition filed by Maryada Purshottam Bhagwan Ramleela Samiti, Bahraich.

The petitioner had prayed for cancellation of Censor Board certification given to the film on November 1 and sought that controversial and objectionable dialogues be removed from the film.

The film starring Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh was released on November 15.

The petition had contended that the film was hurting religious sentiments of Hindus and its title 'Ramleela' was giving a wrong message to society as Lord Ram's 'leela' (act) had great impact on Indian society.

Meanwhile, Eros International has announced a whopping Rs. 93.58 crores gross weekend worldwide for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's GOLIYON KI RASLEELA RAM-LEELA. The colourful Indian take on the classic Romeo and Juliet starring Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in its lead roles, released worldwide on 15th November in over 3,500 screens and grossed Rs. 68.58 crores in India (Rs. 52.75 crores net) and Rs. 25 crores ($4 million) in the overseas markets.

The film took both the Indian and overseas box office by storm by earning Rs. 16 crores nett at the domestic box office on its release day, followed by Rs. 17.25 crores on Saturday and Rs. 19.50 on Sunday. Overseas too, the film had cash registers ringing making it the highest grossing first weekend film in overseas where the weekend does not have extended public holidays.

Touted as a masterpiece by audiences and critics alike, RAM-LEELA is also currently on the 9th spot on the charts in the United Kingdom.

Politics: BJP keen to let Narendra Modi Fly to US

The BJP wants the US administration to lift its travel ban on Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing a press conference here, party president Rajnath Singh said he would take up the issue with US lawmakers in Washington. “I will appeal to the US government to clear the US visa to the Gujarat CM,” he said.

The US government had taken a decision not to give visa to Modi in the wake of the post-Godhra riots of 2002 in Gujarat and serious violation of human rights.

The party had always maintained that Modi was not clamouring for a US visa but criticised the administration on its stand saying he was a democratically elected popular leader of the state.

Modi, who has been nominated as the chairman of BJP election campaign committee, has taken to addressing audiences in the US through video-conferencing.

Singh, who is on a five-day trip to New York and Washington to meet the Indian diaspora, ruled himself out of the prime ministerial race...

Don't Call Salman When He Is In Vanity Van - New Rule

Strange? yes, it is. That is how the new rules set out by Salman Khan works on the sets of Ek Tha Tiger. The actor has set a strict regulations on how he works and how he comes in for a shot. The sets had issues when a spot boy did come and call Salman from his vanity van, it is also said that Salman Khan has banned two of the crew members from coming near the vehicle. As per the new rules that the superstar has set, he will be ready when he is and when he is ready, the shot should be taken, because you can't make the superstar wait!

It might sound ridiculous and outrageous, but the rumors and sources do confirm it to be true. "Salman wants to step out of his vanity when he feels like. Nobody can call him for a shot. The entire unit has to simply wait for him to alight. Even if it means delaying the shoot," added the source.

The sets are already accommodating him and has been accepting his hardcore rules. "Salman often comes to the set late these days. Then he simply locks himself in his vanity van. He pays no heed to the shot that is being readied or is already prepared for him. The filmmakers can't schedule his shots with other actors either since you can't make Salman wait," adds in another insider at the sets.

When Salman was asked to travel to Morocco for a promotional song shoot, he openly refused to go there. He says he just don't want to go, and asked the team to build the entire foreign location look at the Film city! That is too much to ask, not that because it hasn't been done before, but for the shear fact that there will have to be more input and time delay for the shootings to start.

The superstar funda's that we often mimic on the small screens and comedy darbar's doesn't seem to be that alien when we hear this story. We hope this is just a passing rumor, but if it is true, then we really would like Sallu bhai to understand that these news are really sounding bad on him. And we wouldn't want our loved star to be in bad light!

Anurag portraying Wasseypur in bad light?

Cast of Gangs of Wasseypur at Cannes Film Festival

Gangs of Wasseypur is the upcoming project from Anurag Kashyap who is known for his off-beat topics. But this time around, he is trying to portray a topic which is known more to the commercial side of Bollywood. The topic revolves around rivalry between coal mine owners around Wasseypur. The movie has been designed with all the commercial elements that you will see in the commercial movies, the colourful scenes, fights, raunchy acts ... Anurag seems to have touched the base about the subject. The movie has been regarded good and is waiting turn to be screened at the 65th Cannes Film Festival. 

Now when all these parts mention the good side of the movie, what does people of Wasseypur, a village in Jharkhand feel about the movie? They feel its stupid! The movie is said to be portraying the people of Wassseypur in bad light and they have been very unhappy about this. The social activists around Wassseypur has now submitted a memorandum to Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni and Babulal Marandi requesting ban on the movie. Copies was also sent to Governor Dr Sayed Ahmed and Union Minister Subodhkant Sahay.

The people of Nayabazar, Wasseypur feels that the movie has several situations/dialogues which are done with an intention to defame the people of Wasseypur! They wont agree to anything short of a Ban to the movie and this puts the controversy factor (which usually filmmakers search for) to the movie!

Social activist Parvez Akhtar said Naya Bazaar, Wasseypur is a Muslim-dominated area with a total population of around 2 lakh. He further told Bhaskar News that most of the people in area work in administrative capacities. Portraying the place in such a bad light, in contrast to reality is demeaning, he added.

Now we will have to wait on what Anurag has to say about this, as in promos there are few intentional scenes that might question the morality of people there, but does movies always reflect the true culture of a place? 

We are sure this might be tagged as movie which has no resemblance to anyone living or dead!

Shahrukh Khan Banned!

It seems that the continuous victory of his films were manageable but the continuous victory of his team has made the franchisee in Shah Rukh Khan to grow arrogant. There has been reports of him being conservative and less media friendly when he attends the matches of his team. Now another sever incident has resulted him from getting banned from the Wangede Stadium, Mumbai. The event happened yesterday over the victory party by his team after defeating Mumbai Indians by 32 runs. 

Mumbai Cricket Association or MCA reports that SRK did misbehave to the officials of MCA and also the chairman. “We have lodged a complaint against him at the Marine Drive Police station (for his alleged misbehaviour against MCA officials),” informed MCA secretary Nitin Dalal.

“He misbehaved and abused the MCA security personnel as well as MCA officials, including our president Vilasrao Deshmukh, after the IPL match (between KKR and Mumbai Indians). We have decided to ban him for life from entering the stadium in future,” said Savant, who alleged that the actor was in a totally inebriated state. Ravi Savant, is the treasurer to the MCA and was also witness to the act by superstar.

The event happened post victory run by the team, SRK had visited them in their dressing room and now wanted to enter the ground when the MCA security officials denied it. “The MCA security personnel told them they cannot do so as the match was over which led to Shah Rukh abusing them as well as the MCA officials. There was manhandling too by his people. We have decided to ban him from all future matches at the stadium. We are also going to lodge a police complaint against him,” said Savant.

Savant also said that one of the members of the MCA’s managing committee who is also a top police official, Iqbal Sheikh, tired to intervene and pacify the actor but could not do so as he was in no mood to listen to anyone. The MCA officials are also planning to lodge a complaint with the BCCI over the misbehavior by the team-owner.  Savant said all the altercation had taken place in the presence of IPL CEO Sundar Raman and BCCI’s media manager Devendra Prabhudesai.

This event is gaining importance in the midst of the IPL controversy in which 5 players were suspended.

We hope SRK does find a clean solution to this issue and not break the morale of his team when they are doing 'really' good!
