Motorola one of the leaders during early stages of mobile phones had gone down to a near fall with the invasion of Chinese, Korean, Finnish and Indian mobile manufacturers entering the market. It failed to cope up with the growing pace. But Motorola has found a new life line with its google acquisition and even better may be in store as Google has handed this over to Lenovo.

With China's Lenovo having bought Motorola Mobility for $2.9 billion recently, industry observers say that the company may be playing safe by only launching online till integration of businesses happen and not expending its resources towards distribution, which is a must for any mobile phone company to survive in the hyper-competitive Indian market.

"There are too many players and original equipment makers (OEMs) in the Indian market and the distribution channels are fatigued with the large number of devices being retailed countrywide," said Jayanth Kolla, co-founder and partner at telecom research firm Convergence Catalyst.

Indian users have some good news in store for them, as the announcement saw Motorola finally confirming that it would be re-entering the Indian market with the new smartphone, with a launch slated for “early-January 2014”. The company also announced that the device will come with a dual-SIM variant aimed at select markets.

A quick look at the specifications reveals that the Moto G sports a 4.5-inch HD 'edge-to-edge' display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels, amounting to a pixel density of 329ppi, and a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 screen. The handset runs Android 4.3 for now, though the company has “guaranteed” that the smartphone will be getting Android 4.4 KitKat by January next year. Under the hood, the device comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (Cortex-A7) processor clocked at 1.2GHz along with an Adreno 305 GPU and 1GB of RAM.

For photography, there's a 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash as well as a 1.3-megapixel front shooter. The rear camera comes with HD (720P) video recording support. The handset sports a water-resistant nano-coating on the inside and outside. Rounding up the package is a 2070mAh battery, which the company claims will give 30 percent more talk time than Apple’s current flagship, the iPhone 5s. FM radio support is packed in and the curved back panel is removable.

Motorola to unveil the Moto G Today Globally - Register In

Motorola seems all set to re-enter the Indian market after a brief sabbatical with its upcoming smartphone, the Moto G, hints a teaser ahead of the scheduled November 13 announcement.

The Google owned handset manufacturer has released yet another teaser for its next smartphone, however unlike the earlier teaser which pointed to the release of Moto G in various markets, including India. This one specifically said, "Namaste, India!", and the salutation leaves us even more positive of an India release. The new teaser image posted on Facebook shows the Motorola logo in the centre with the Taj Mahal in the background.

In addition, the Facebook post by Motorola recommends that users register on Moto G's dedicated website for November 13's global live stream. Aside from the teaser post, Motorola has not provided any new details related to the upcoming Moto G smartphone.

On Monday, Motorola Moto G's price was revealed thanks to an Amazon listing that was pulled down immediately. The Motorola Moto G aka Motorola DVX/XT1032 (16GB) was listed at Amazon UK for 159.99 British Pounds, which translated to roughly Rs. 16,100. The Amazon listing also revealed that the Moto G will be available starting November 14 and clearly mentioned that the price was for a factory unlocked phone, with the listing saying, "This is a UK SIM free phone."

Earlier leaked specifications of the Motorola Moto G include a 4.5-inch HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass; 5-megapixel rear camera; 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera; 8GB inbuilt storage (no word on expandable storage support), and Bluetooth 4.0. Further, the Moto G is expected to be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Cortex A7 Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8226 processor with Adreno 305 GPU.
