Court Set To Hear Final Argument From Activists : Salman Khan Hit And Run Case

A Mumbai sessions court on Tuesday heard three applications in the 2002 hit and run case involving actor Salman Khan.

On Salman's plea on unfair media coverage of the case, the court orally directed that the media should report on the case in a fair manner.

While hearing activist Santosh Daundkar's plea to transfer false evidence case from Bandra to the sessions court, the court said it did not have suo moto powers to transfer the case.

On Activist Abha Singh's plea to assist the Public Prosecutor the court said it could be considered only at the final arguments stage.

Salman Khan is being tried for culpable homicide not amounting to murder. A Mumbai sessions court framed charges against the popular Bollywood actor on July 24, 2013. Mr Khan had earlier been charged with a lesser offence of causing death by rash and negligent driving, which would have carried a maximum punishment of only two years in jail.

Eleven years ago, in September 2002, Mr Khan was allegedly driving a Toyota Land Cruiser that ran over a group of people sleeping on the pavement outside a bakery in suburban Bandra. One person was killed and four others were injured in the accident.

Salman violates MRTP Act

According to former IPS officer and social activist YP Singh, bollywood actor Salman Khan has violated the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act.

Salman Khan bought a flat in a building named ‘The Address’ which is located at the Bullock Cart Road and is between the lane of Mannat and Taj Lands End at Bandstand (Bandra).

The power of attorney of the flat has been handed over to Salman Khan's father, Salim Khan.
According to the documents, Salman Khan on paper has purchased a flat measuring 1079.95 square feet and has paid an exact price of Rs 20 Crore. But buzz is that Salman Khan paid Rs 1.80 lakh per square feet, which is more than the current market rate. The current market rate in that area is Rs 25,000 to 30,000 per square feet.

YP Singh said that, “It is clear that the extra price, which has been given is said to acquire a non-FSI component of the building, which cannot be sold. There is a dedicated parking at the 11th floor with a personal swimming pool. On paper, the property is only 1079.95 square feets, but actually the space occupied (that of the flat) is around 8000 square feet, which is deceiving.”

He added, “As per the law, common areas like lobby, garden, swimming pool, parking and fire refuge area cannot be owned by an individual, but can be utilised by all the members of the building. It would also be a case of money laundering, as Khan, by paying such a huge amount of Rs 20 crore might have converted all the black money into white."

“This requires a detailed investigation and once it is done, it will be clear whether it’s money laundering or a case of environment protection act or Violation of Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning Act. The Police and Municipal authorities should indulge into the probe for the same.”

Aamir Khan searching for a new home!

Its tough to get a perfect house for the perfectionist but the search is on, if the sources are to be believed Aamir Khan is now searching for a house or bungalow at Bandra area and preferably near Sachin's new abode. The search seems to be in full swing for an old bungalow or a plot near the area.

The source explained, "Aamir wants a place in Bandra, but he is willing to settle for a bungalow in Khar too. Although, he has got his heart set on Bandra, as he wants to be neighbours with Sachin Tendulkar. He has gone to view a couple of plots near Sachin's new house on Perry Cross Road."

"It will be a good investment. He is open to buying an old bungalow and renovating it completely," added the source.

Apparently, the actor, who already owns a flat in Marina Apartments in Union Park, has been on this quest since 2008. However, back then Aamir was reportedly keen on purchasing a residential society. Now the search is not because Aamir Khan has a smaller apartment, but he just wishes to have a bigger house with better place for his office.

Source also mentioned that Aamir Khan production team had also approached near the 22 storey apartment complex in Santa Cruz, but the plan got dropped. Now the actor is searching for a house at Bandra. "He is not ruling out shifting to a posh building. At this point, he doesn't mind either a building or a bungalow," said the actor's friend.
