The Minor Accused Of Gang Rape Identified By Telephone Operator


The 19-year-old telephone operator from Mulund on Thursday identified the minor accused in the gang rape that had taken place on the Shakti Mills premises on July 31. The identification parade was held at the juvenile remand home in Dongri. Crime branch sources said the 19-year-old’s husband, too, identified the accused as one of the five who raped her.


Joint commissioner of police, crime, Himanshu Roy said, “The Test Identification Parade (TIP) was on conducted at the juvenile remand home in Dongri where the minor accused is lodged.”

An official said, “The process was conducted under the supervision of a magistrate.”

Among the five accused in the case, the minor was arrested in September, while the other three -- Vijay Jadhav, Kasim Sheikh alias Bengali and Salim Ansari -- are already in custody for their alleged involvement in the August 22 gang rape of a photojournalist. The fifth, Mohammad Ashfaq Sheikh, is still at large.

The victim and her boyfriend had visited Shakti Mills on July 31 while going towards Mahalaxmi railway station. The five youth accosted them, assaulted the boyfriend and allegedly gang-raped the teenager. Later, the victim and her boyfriend fled to Chhattisgarh and got married in a temple.

Madhur's Trial Confirmed!




The famous Preeti Jain case will be proceeded Mumbai High Court after the series of rejectionson  plea's Madhur Bhandarkar made to the court on moving the case to a more convenient location. His final plea was rejected by the court to move the hearing to Mumbai Metropolitan court so that there is minimal hindrance to his work.

The Preeti Jain rape case was filed against the filmmaker in July 2004, when Miss Jain lodged the complaint that Madhur had raped her several times during the time period of 1999 to 2004, promising her to marry her and to cast her as the lead actress in his movies. 


"Justice R.C. Chavan today (Thursday) refused to stay the trial against Bhandarkar, stating that he will now have to face criminal trial," Jain`s lawyer S. Kunjuraman told IANS. "Bhandarkar has tried his level best to buy time by approaching various courts and filing several pleas. But now he has exhausted all his tricks and will have to face trial," he added.

A Mumbai metropolitan court had ordered the proceedings as they found substance in the complaint and had asked to continue the proceedings. Although the filmmaker did get an anticipatory bail on the case from the court considering the proceedings. In September 2005, Jain was arrested and charged with conspiracy to murder. Police alleged that she paid gangster-turned-politician Arun Gawli's one time aide Naresh Pardesi Rs. 75,000 to have Bhandarkar killed. She was later released on bail.

Madhur, is currently in midst of shooting third schedule for his movie 'Heroine' and if everything fares well, he should be a happy man to continue with the dream project.
