On Sunday 29th July, members of political party said to be MNS activists attacked Rohan Sippy’s film set. They tried to damage John Abraham’s vanity van and Ayushman Khurana’s BMW.

The incident occurred at Garden Foods and Wafers factory in Borivali suburbs. An argument between a watchman of the factory and Ravindra More, a driver of MNS MLA Pravin Darekar took place when the watchman stopped More from entering a private road which runs through the factory where Rohan Sippy's crew were present for a movie shoot picturising on Khurana.

The lane is many times used as a shortcut by people and More wanted to do the same. Since there was a film shoot going on during that time of the day the watchmen restricted More from entering the lane.
Furious by such behavior Ravindra More left and returned back with a pack of 10- 15 MNS activists with him. According to the reports the activists smashed almost 20 vehicles.

“The group saw the movie set in the premises and destroyed it. It was Sippy's set. The group also damaged many vehicles parked there. Two persons have sustained injuries in the incident and are currently undergoing treatment at Bhagwati Hospital," said the cops

Soon after the ruckus took place, the police took control of the region and started patrolling.

"We have formed seven teams to trace the people involved in the Sunday afternoon incident. Already, we have detained several people for questioning in the case, “quoted the Commissioner of police, North region, Sunil Paraskar.

A complaint of rioting and causing damage to property has been registered at Kasturba Marg police station and the extent of the damage is being evaluated.

Meanwhile, reports say that people belonging to film fraternity are planning to meet Maharashtra’s chief minister Prithviraj Chavan to discuss about the repeated attacks on the industry sets by political parties.

Both movies did do outstandingly well and their talent is into consideration when Sippy is bringing up the new untitled comedy flick.

Vicky Donar earns Rs.22 crore

Actor turned producer John Abraham's Vicky Donar is doing quite well at the Box office. The film has so far earned Rupess. 22 crore.

In the opening weekend itself the movie earned Rs. 13.40 crore (over Rs. 11.40 crore in India and Rs. 2 crore overseas). Vicky Donor collected between Rs 7 crore and Rs 7.5 crore in the second weekend which took the 10 day total to Rs 21.5 crore to Rs 22 crore.

Director Shoojit Sircar said that, "I am happy with the kind of response Vicky Donor has got. While writing the script, me and my writers thought we will get a positive response from young boys and girls, but with the film becoming so popular among the masses, it feels great."

He added that, "I never thought my film will get a U/A certificate from censors. It came as a shock for me. The success of the film is the biggest example of audience getting mature. I personally feel that the audiences are very clever and they know what they want to see."

Nandu Ahuja, senior vice president, distribution, India, Eros International Media Ltd said that, "We are very happy with the audience as well as critics' reactions to Vicky Donor. Sunday's collections showed a 91 percent jump over Friday figures."

He added, "The film created a positive buzz right from the launch of its trailer and has delivered on audience expectations. With its unusual subject, characters and dialogues, we are hoping for repeat viewings and a  promising run at the box office."

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said that, "The success of Vicky Donor is the triumph of its story. The script of the film is the real hero. Every character, be it Ayushmann or Kamlesh Gill or Yami, has fitted so beautifully in the film. I give full marks to the script. With a taboo topic, new actors, a small budget, the kind of business the film has done is commendable."

He added, "Films starring newcomers or lesser known actors don't find a theatrical outlet in the international arena. The success of Vicky Donor should also encourage distributors to go beyond the boundaries of India  and explore newer horizons."

Vicky Donor deals with the concept of sperm donation and infertility. When John was questioned about the risky subject matter, he said, "Basically, Vicky Donor is a romantic comedy between a Punjabi boy and a Bengali girl. But the concept is set against the background of sperm donation." John hoped that the film could shed light on a serious issue still considered "taboo" in Indian society.

Vicky Donor is a Bollywood romantic comedy film directed by Shoojit Sircar, co-produced by Eros International and JA Entertainment and produced by actor John Abraham. The film stars VJ turned actor Ayushmann Khurana and Yami Gautam in the lead roles. It released on April 20, 2012, last friday at over 600 screens worldwide.

Vicky Donor : 9.35cr and still climbing!

John Abraham's first outing as producer has shown colors of its own as 'Vicky Donor' is marked as a super hit. The movie collected 7.85crore on the first week of its release and added a 1.5 Crore into its account through Monday. The movie has been an instant hit and the performances of actors and Shoojit as a director has been approved. It is said that the online media also helped the movie reach the success that it has done. The overall story line is thrilling and is fun to watch. Ayushmann pulled up a performance which makes one think if he is really a debutante to the movies!

The movie will still have competition this week when Priyadarshan's 'Tezz' hits the screens which is an action thriller, there will also be the release of 'Avengers' the Marvel flick this week, which is expected to give a tough competition to Vicky! The movie is still grossing so it will be in vain to comment on the future competition's. A source at multiplexes says "The movie is still pulling up youngsters and adults alike to the screens. We are still receiving bookings and packed houses here, so we cannot comment on its fight with forthcoming movies, ".

The movie had pulled up the bold task of narrating sperm donation in a conservative society of India. We should appreciate the task that director Shoojit Sircar took when he planned the movie, the movie is able to hit the topics of infertility and sperm donation with a humorous track to back the subject. The movie is a romantic-comedy entertainer and it pleases every age group alike. Also the sources mention this as the change of Indian cinema from its cultural taboo, as we had a movie on gay relationships, movie on sex symbols and finally sperm donation!

Vicky Donor had competition with Vikram Bhatt's 'Hate Story' which is still doing a decent business with a collection of 6.6 Crore. But it seems that the erotic thriller did not find match for the romantic comedy that was pulled up by John.

The film is likely to grow further and could finish with lifetime business of 20 crores plus. Considering the star cast, it’s the third surprise success of the year after Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya and Paan Singh Tomar.

Vicky Donor to be the Landmark - Shoojit

Shoojit, the director for 'Vicky Donor' is all set and ready for this outing into box office. He is excited about the theme he has took up and is on high confidence that the movie will be unique comedy entertainer and also will be a landmark to the changing industry and story trends "It would be a landmark film for sure. This kind of subject is absolutely new for the Indian audience and we have made the film just the way it should have been," says Shoojit. He had started off with the movie 'Yahaan' which did not make much response in the boxoffice but still had ripples around.

Shoojit also appreciates John for his confidence in agreeing to the theme and to make his debut in production a memorial one. They find it common on many grounds including the star cast. The promos are already getting good response over and the choice of a fresh face, Ayushmann Khurrana has been widely accepted. "Since the very beginning John and I were sure that we would get a fresh face for the film. We wanted to bring in a fresh actor who would bring on a smile with his very appearance and I didn`t want any excess baggage that would have to be removed off an established star.

"Moreover both John and I like Ayushmann as a person. He was the best choice for the film and audience reaction to him just on the basis of promos is a testimony of that," adds the director. VJ turned actor, Ayushmann has been shown with the same energy as he is known for his tv performances and he plays the role of young Punjabi cricketer in the movie.

Another prominent role and one of the most appreciated one based on trailers is the role done by Annu Kapoor, that of Dr Chadha. "There are a very few actors who can pull off a character like `Chadha` from Daryaganj, Delhi. A character like this needs to be played quite carefully and Annu Kapoor just fits the bill," Shoojit said. The director said that he had considered actors like Om Puri and Paresh Rawal for Dr Chadha`s role. "We did think of these actors and for that matter Pankaj Kapoor as well. They are all of course fine actors but Annu suits the role best. It is a clear reinvention of sorts for him and I can proudly say that we are reintroducing him with this film."

Due to the controversial nature of the subject, there always arises the question if the movie is for adults alone, Shoojit clarifies this as well "I will never make a film that is crass or slapstick; that`s not my style. The humour quotient in the film too is as real as it gets with nothing forced. There was a thin line we created while writing the film and we did not cross it. Whether it is audio or visual content, nothing would make audience from any age group squirm in their seats. The film is a very straight portrait of real life characters and there won`t be anything repulsive on display here,"

The movie hits screens today and will be a treat to watch as per reports.

Vicky Donor or is it John the Donor?

Now it is a very critical situation, when we select a topic for the movie and a theme for it, as a producer it is good to abide by the theme and also to promote it. That is what John Abraham did when he thought of the theme of sperm donation, Vicky Donor, his production, deals with the sensitive topic of sperm donation. During the promotions of this movie, John was bold enough to say “Why can’t we donate sperm? It’s a topic that needs to be addressed, as there are childless couples out there, who can do with our help.”

When he said those words, he was rarely expecting any consequences! Or was he not? Here is an unusual request that came by to the superstar, a women who has been childless for few years now and is planning for an artificial insemination has asked John's sperm! Now that is a shock - the actor has gone mum after the rumor spread out and now the question that arises is will he stand by his words of donation? Only time and John knows what is about it but, the lady fan of John is extremely in high hopes that she would receive the John branded sperms for getting her child.

This is not all - a well known fertility center in Chandigarh has also asked for John to start donation to their hospital. We are just imagining if it is actually Vicky the donor or is it John ? Although John agrees that his physical appearance is what makes these demands and he says that he accepts the love of his fans. Although he is unavailable for a comment on the latest rumor, during promotions of Vicky Donor, he did explain his on-screen persona and also did not forget to endorse his upcoming movie "I know my physicality is always going to be a talking point. But with Shootout At Wadala, it's all about the character and people are going to forget about John Abraham," said the actor

Ayushmann Khurranna plays the lead role in the movie and as far as the promos goes, he has been doing a good job for a new comer into acting. Ayushmann insists that he has no god father in movie industry but considers John as his god-brother! "John is my god-brother in this industry. He can't be my god-father, he is too young," Ayushmann said. "He is like a buddy. Both of us don't have anybody in the industry. It feels great that I am starting my Bollywood career with John's home production," he added.

The story revolves around a fertility center at Chandigarh and it seems the typical Punjabi looks ( as per Ayushmann) was the main factor which made the director Shoojit cast him for the role.

Injured John still does cameo!

After all a hairline fracture cannot be doing much harm to the macho man of Bollywood. Yes, we are talking about John Abraham, who had sustained a hairline fracture during the action sequence of his movie 'Shootout at Wadala', but did that stop him from his work? The answer is no, he continued to his production house and did the shoot for 'Vicky Donor', starring Ayushman Khurana, where he was performing the cameo for the movie.

The trouble was that the shooting started around 1 a.m. and continued till 5 in the morning and John was still game for its completion. He seems to be highly careful about the production he is taking in and wants the perfection he demands in his movies. Ayushman Khurana who is starring in the movie is equally excited about this and thanks John for backing him up with the shoot  “John was very supportive and was helping me boost up my energy. He had an injured leg but he still went on shooting till about 5 in the morning! He totally backed me up." says the actor.

The sources close to the production house mention that the problems started when few steps in the cameo were difficult and Ayushman was having trouble getting this right.  “The shoot was progressing well. But there came a certain dance sequence, which the lead character of the film, Ayushman Khurana was doing along with John. As luck would have it, Ayushman got a little intimidated and was not able to perform the steps correctly.” says a source.

The source adds, “This went on for a while and ultimately resulted in a delay in the shoot. That one song sequence took around 26 retakes for the duo to get it right. And John insisted that they do it until it is perfect. John is known to be a perfectionist but he surprised everyone this time because he had a hairline fracture in his leg while shooting for Shootout At Wadala. Still, he was supportive of Ayushman and helped him get the right steps,” the source added.

So be it! We are eagerly waiting to see the perfection on screen.

Ayushmann Khurrana turns singer

VJ Ayushmann Khurrana will not only be seen making his debut as an actor in VICKY DONOR but he has also composed and sung a Punjabi song titled ‘Paani…’ for the movie.

Vicky Donor is an upcoming Bollywood romantic comedy film directed by Shoojit Sircar and produced by actor John Abraham. The film stars Ayushmann Khurrana, Yami Gautam and Annu Kapoor in the lead roles. The movie is set to release on April 20, 2012. It is based on the concept of sperm donation and infertility.

In the movie Ayushmann plays a Punjabi boy from Lajpat Nagar.

Ayushmann said, "One day I was sitting with Shoojitda discussing which music director to rope in and I happened to be carrying my guitar that day. I mentioned the song I had written 8 years ago in 2003 along with my friend Rochak Kohli who now heads a radio station. Shoojitda asked me to play it. He liked it so much that he decided to use it in the film. I couldn't have asked for a better showcasing of my song than through this film."

He added, “I had been thinking of using the song in some way, perhaps putting it up on YouTube with an amateurish video. But this was an awesome chance to use it in a superb way.”
