Dhoom 3 Box Office Collection Reaches 69.58 Crore In 2 Days

Despite having strong star cast and a grandeur stage, the movie has been receiving a mixed review, but this is not a statement to say that Dhoom 3 is running low. The box office collection was revealed in an official statement and confirmed that the 2 day collection for the movie all over india (including the Tamil and Telugu versions) is ₹ 69.58 Crore.

The movie did a business of ₹. 36.22 crore at the box office on the first day, while on Saturday the earnings were recorded to be ₹. 33.36 crore. Directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya, the third instalment of Yash Raj Films' popular Dhoom franchise came out on Friday (December 20, 2013). The movie stars Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra doing the lead roles.

The movie speaks about the story of a circus group who had been cheated by a Chicago bank and how the clown and now owner of the circus tricks the bank and loots money. And as in previous series, this time, Abhishek and Uday are called up on the case to Chicago. The movie storyline doesn't promise much but what! did you plan to go for Dhoom 3 to see some emotional drama!

The usual laurel and hardy show of Abhishek and Uday are said to be graceful. Aamir Khan has done excellently through the emotional and story narration parts. Also the industry is amazed with the acrobatic skills that Katrina Kaif has been displaying in the movie. So if you haven't seen it yet, make sure you grab a seat!

Dhoooommmm!!

Ram-Leela Banned In UP; Still Grosses 93.58 Crores Globally

Even the name change has not helped "Goliyon Ki Rasleela, Ram-Leela". The latest ruling by Allahabad High Court has come in banning the movie from being screened in Uttar Pradesh. The controversial dialogues and few scenes has been cited as the reason for why the movie will be banned.

The Lucknow bench of the court comprising justices Devi Prasad Singh and Ashok Pal Singh passed the order to ban the film on a petition filed by Maryada Purshottam Bhagwan Ramleela Samiti, Bahraich.

The petitioner had prayed for cancellation of Censor Board certification given to the film on November 1 and sought that controversial and objectionable dialogues be removed from the film.

The film starring Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh was released on November 15.

The petition had contended that the film was hurting religious sentiments of Hindus and its title 'Ramleela' was giving a wrong message to society as Lord Ram's 'leela' (act) had great impact on Indian society.

Meanwhile, Eros International has announced a whopping Rs. 93.58 crores gross weekend worldwide for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's GOLIYON KI RASLEELA RAM-LEELA. The colourful Indian take on the classic Romeo and Juliet starring Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in its lead roles, released worldwide on 15th November in over 3,500 screens and grossed Rs. 68.58 crores in India (Rs. 52.75 crores net) and Rs. 25 crores ($4 million) in the overseas markets.

The film took both the Indian and overseas box office by storm by earning Rs. 16 crores nett at the domestic box office on its release day, followed by Rs. 17.25 crores on Saturday and Rs. 19.50 on Sunday. Overseas too, the film had cash registers ringing making it the highest grossing first weekend film in overseas where the weekend does not have extended public holidays.

Touted as a masterpiece by audiences and critics alike, RAM-LEELA is also currently on the 9th spot on the charts in the United Kingdom.

Krrish 3 Makes New Record; Rs 228.23 Crores In 15 Days!

Mumbai: Rakesh Roshan's superhero offering 'Krrish 3' has become the highest grosser of all times by earning Rs. 228.23 crores in just 15 days.

Confirming this, the film's director-producer Rakesh Roshan said: "This Friday's collections were Rs.2.44 crore, which brings the total 15-day collection to Rs.228.23 crore. So yes, it looks like 'Krrish 3' has broken all records."

"Records are made to be broken. We are happy that the merit and power of 'Krrish' has been endorsed in just 15 days. And in such a short span of time our film has begun a journey of setting new records. God has been kind."

Analysing the record-breaking success of "Krrish 3", trade expert Taran Adarsh said: "The large number of screens and the ticket rates have definitely helped 'Krrish 3' to undertake its record-breaking journey. But eventually everything boils down to the quality of the content. If the script is solid, there's no stopping a film. Also, it must be kept in mind that if a film is to be a universal hit, it must cater to a universal audience."

Kangana Ranaut and Vivek Oberoi joined the cast this time, while Priyanka Chopra reprised her role as Hrithik's love interest on the screen.

Trade pundit Amod Mehra said: "Records are meant to be broken. With every new record, film stars are asking for more money. Exhibitors too are getting greedy. They keep increasing the ticket rates. Let's see what strategy 'Dhoom 3' adopts."

Dark Knight to Crush Cocktail, Bol Bachchan ?

384529_Take Flight with our Aviator Eyewear!
Both Cocktail and Bol Bachchan are still young at the box office, but the recent release of 'The Dark Knight Rises' poses a serious threat to the collections of both the movies as it is said that the collections may drop anywhere from 14-25% at multiplexes. The gigantic movie from Christopher Nolan is no silly game and it means serious business. As reported earlier the buzz continues at the iMax theaters for booking and this is in midst of the countless online bookings that keeps happening.

As of Tuesday Cocktail box-office earnings stood at 46.65 Crores and Bol Bachchan at 78.90 Crores. It was from wednesday that the movies started seeing a serious drop in collections as Cocktail collected only 4.80 crore rupees which is a 15% drop whereas Bol Bachchan did a better business and collected 1.80 Crore which is good compared to the date of release, and it still had a loss of 10%. The movies are not doing bad, when Cocktail still rules the multiplexes and Bol Bachchan hides its heart at Single screens.

Bol Bachchan as of now stands at 80.7 Crores and Cocktail at 50.85 Crores. The chances of Bol Bachchan‘s touching 100 Crores look lean coz it’ll have to add another 14-15 Crores in it’s 3rd week. However, with the release of The Dark Knight Rises and all the positive reviews flowing in, it seems rather impossible. Both Bol Bachchan and Cocktail are sure to witness steady drops as the Dark Knight Rises to glory.

Although the makers of the movies are still happy that the movies did not nose dive right from the start and they do have a ample amount in collections before the Rise of dark knight hits. The Dark Knight Rises seems to be a tough competitor for the spiderman series which has the highest collection records for a Hollywood movie in India

ZNMD puts Singham out of competition!

Singham has a slow run over Multiplexes

As a week continues with the release of the latest flick from Ajay Devgan, the movie Singham does seem to be covering only single screen theatres, although the roar of Singham is loud and clear here, and is almost reaching to beat Salman Khan's Ready, the news is that the slow run continues on multiplexes!

Movies like Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is giving a tight run for Singham, the movie ZNMD is mentioned to be collecting more than Singham even on the 8th day of its release. This is the report across Delhi NCR and Punjab area.

The added fact that the crew of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara seems to be rushing into multiplexes thanking them personally has also added to the fact that the movie is going to be running for another few more weeks to come. We feel that Singham failed the run here as it was not properly promoted through the plexes.

Anyways, Ajay seems to find the rhythm in other sections of the Industry and hope to cope up with the hit charts!

Delhi Belly still runs over...

Delhi Belly has been running quite successfully for the past three weeks and is almost grabbing the most of what the cinema is to offer. The collection rates has been on peek high but the recent release of movies like ZNMD and Singham has had its impact, but it still stays strong!

Delhi Belly has collected around 55 crore nett in three weeks. Third week say a drop of around 70% due to the release of Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. The approx three week collections so far are.

Week One - 36 crore nett

Week Two - 14.50 crore nett

Week Three - 4.50 crore nett approx

TOTAL - 55 crore nett.

Delhi Belly will do an all India distributor share of around 28 crore.

Singham to beat Ready!

Singham Roars over Ready

The latest from Ajay Devgan, the action packed Singham is now closing in on the collection rates of Salman Khan's 'Ready' which has been a super duper success in Bollywood. The latest reports are that the movie is just 5-10% short of the collections of 'Ready' in most shows. The show might be starting up for Ajay Devgan!

Singham has been rated as a great success by the film fraternity and this marks the hits on single screen theatres where the crowd is still rushing in. Although there has been weak responses on multiplexes.

The movie 'Ready' had collected 13.25 crore nett by the first week through Multiplexes which had been a super hit in June. This is where Singham has failed to score and this makes 'Ready' lead the table. The multiplexes collection has been 40-50% short of 'Ready'.

But Singham has scored greatly with single screen theaters, where it has been just 25-35% less than ready which mean a very good show in the making. We wish Ajay all the best with his movie!

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara Heats up

The star studs work good at Multiplexes!

Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara was released today and was received with much pleasure by the audiences. The movie did have a slow pace when the trailers and teasers were released, the producers were having double minds on the success rate, but as always the show changes everything. The reports mention that the first show had 70% full seats in multiplexes which increased upto 90% in the later shows. So the festivals are back in the camp.

Although the movie is slow in pace on regular single screen theaters and has gone ahead to get an average collection as per reports. The producers are confident that the movie will gain a considerable profit by the weekend.

Another competitor to ZNMD is Harry Porter 3-D version, which has been celebrated by Harry's fans with much joy. The strong franchise about the movie and the hype it created during promotions has helped greatly. The show is not as good in theaters which are showing non 3-D version of the movie but the multiplexes still seem to rule!

We hope we have more parties for ZNMD by the end of next week!

Delhi Belly Offers Some Hope To Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara

Delhi Belly attracts many!

The urban film aimed at multiplexes in metros and mini metros has found the going tough over the last few years to put up big numbers at the box office but Delhi Belly managed it after a long time. Before that it was Love Aaj Kal so now the success of Delhi belly offers some hope to Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara as it is aiming for the same audience and similar business if not more.

The problem with this type of film aimed at the urban youth is that it has not shown any growth at the box office since 2007 while the business of mass films has grown by leaps and bounds which means it will be tough for Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara to get to 60 crore nett while 70 crore nett has never been touched by a film aimed at urban audience in metros and mini metros.

In 2007 an urban film like Chak De India grossed 87.50 crore and even today thats about as high as an urban film can go while the mass film in 2007 like Om Shanti Om did 110.50 crore and a similar success today like Ready hits 160 crore.

This is because that the multiplex growth over last few years has come outside urban centres while single screens exhibitors have revamped and refurbished their theatres to compete with the multiplexes. So basically the growth in business in last 4-5 years has come where there is little demand for movies with urban sensibilities.

Below is a look at the big grossing urban films and mass films over last five years. Gross figures (not Nett) are taken here for comparison as some films were entertainment tax free.

Urban

Chak De India (2007) - 87.50 crore

Taare Zameen Par (2007)- 75.50 crore

Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na (2008) - 77.50 crore

Love Aaj Kal (2009) - 89 crore

I Hate Luv Storys (2010) - 58.75 crore

Anjaana Anjaani (2010) - 53.50 crore

Delhi Belly (2011) - 82 crore (Expected)

Mass

Om Shanti Om (2007)- 110.50 crore

Welcome (2007)- 98 crore

Ghajini (2008)- 155 crore

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008)- 117 crore

Three Idiots (2009) - 269.50 crore

Dabangg (2010) - 187.50 crore

Golmaal 3 (2010) - 144 crore

Ready (2011) - 160 crore (Expected)

It can be seen that business of the successful urban films in 2011 is roughly where it was in 2007 while business of mass films has jumped around 50% at least and can go on to do much bigger numbers today as compared to 2007.
