Honda City 2014 : First Looks And Video Reviews

The much awaited 2014 edition of Honda City got reviewed by popular brand powerdrift and we are happy to showcase the video. One of the most anticipated cars of the segment, Honda City shows up with features that are all set to conquer the market. Although the pricing point is still in discussion, we will have to wait few more months to see what Honda prices the car at:

Honda’s i-VTEC engines are renowned for their brilliance, but this time around, the company is focussing on a diesel motor -- the 1.5-litre i-DTEC that debuted in the Amaze and has been carried over to the City. The new vehicle also gets the smaller saloon's gearbox, though it's a six-speed here. Honda claims that the new City i-DTEC will be the most fuel-efficient car in the country, with a claimed fuel efficiency of 26kpl!

The petrol version of the car gets the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC motor as in the last-generation car although it has been slightly tweaked to improve power delivery at lower revs. The car is also available in CVT auto version as well, which should add to its market.

The diesel engine comes straight from Amaze but the engine is remarked as more refined and with no speed cut-off - the company claims the top speed of diesel to be 190kmps!!

There’s plenty of equipment on offer. The instruments for the driver are big and easy to read, rings around the dials glow blue or green (depending on your driving style), and the chunky steering wheel is a high point, with well damped switches for the music and telephony. The music system includes a CD player (along with DVD support) as well as Bluetooth and Aux-in. A five-inch screen is the interface for the music system, while the air-con system is operated via a touch panel. And of course, there's a sunroof as well.

But despite the equipment levels, the LCD display blends in a little too much with the dash and the air-con control panel and plastics on the dash take away from the consistency of design.
The new City looks good on the outside as well with the slim headlights and the familiar arrowhead front profile. It has more presence and looks bigger. At the rear, the tail-lamps are integrated slickly with the boot. While the car looks bigger and has more presence, it's no wider than the older one and is as easy to drive around in the city as ever.

As per HT, the car is supposedly to be priced around 8.3-11.6 Lakhs, which sounds very promising.

Apple iPad Air and iPad Mini To Reach Indian Markets By November 29

Apple is set to launch the iPad Air and iPad mini in India on November 29, NDTV Gadgets has learnt from its sources.

While the date may still change due to supply constraints in other regions, we have also obtained the price list for the new iPad Air and iPad mini, which is unlikely to change between now and the launch, barring any major currency fluctuations.

According to the information we've received, the 16GB Wi-Fi only iPad mini with Retina display will be launched carrying a price tag of Rs. 28,900. The 32GB, 64GB and 128GB Wi-Fi only models will be priced at Rs. 35,900, Rs. 42,900 and Rs. 49,900 respectively. The 16GB iPad mini with Retina display and cellular connectivity will be priced at Rs. 37,900. The 32GB, 64GB and 128GB models will be priced at Rs. 44,900, Rs. 51,900 and Rs. 58,900 respectively.

The 16GB Wi-Fi only iPad Air will launch for a price of Rs. 35,900. The 32GB, 64GB and 128GB Wi-Fi only models will be priced at Rs. 42,900, Rs. 49,900 and Rs. 56,900 respectively. The 16GB iPad Air with cellular connectivity will be priced at Rs. 44,900. The 32GB, 64GB and 128GB models will be priced at Rs. 51,900, Rs. 58,900 and Rs. 65,900 respectively.

According to our source, the 16GB iPad mini without Retina display will continue to sell for Rs. 21,900 for the Wi-Fi version, the same price as of date. However, the cellular model is expected to get a price bump from Rs. 29,900 to Rs. 30,900. The iPad 16GB iPad 2 will continue to sell for Rs. 28,900 and Rs. 37,900 for the Wi-Fi and cellular models respectively.

Lenovo Launches A Series Of Gaming PC's : IdeaPadY510p, Ideapad Z510 and IdeaCentre Horizon 27

Lenovo has launched a portfolio of gaming PCs in India which features devices like IdeaPad Y510p, IdeaPad Z510 and IdeaCentre Horizon 27. All of these PCs are now available through the official company website for prices ranging anywhere between Rs 50,000 and Rs 1,36,500.

First up is the Lenovo IdeaPad Y510p, a gaming laptop that is based on the fourth generation Intel Core i7 processor and is compatible with Windows 8 as well as Windows 8 Pro. To make the visuals stand out even more, the company has thrown in dual graphics support and the Ultrabay feature helps bumping up the storage and adding dual capability. The new Range Rover Sport has much more in common with the Range Rover than the old model, sharing most of its primary suspension and transmission parts and key components

Thus, its rear overhang is markedly shorter than before and the redesigned cabin offers both more rear-seat knee room and space for an optional pair of electrically powered, fold-down, child-friendly seats forming a third row, making this a ‘5+2’ SUV for the first time.

For India, two engine options will be on offer, a 3.0-litre diesel V6 and a 5.0-litre petrol V8. All engines come with stop-start system and an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Too Late ?? - Blackberry Messenger Now On Iphone n Android

BlackBerry's popular BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) instant chat application will be available for Google's Android and Apple's iPhone this weekend, the company said.

Rumours about the app coming to Android and iPhone started in June. The app will be available for devices running Android 4.0 and up, or iOS 6 and iOS 7. It will allow Android and iOS users to communicate with BlackBerry owners.

BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) is a proprietary Internet-based instant messenger and videotelephony application included on BlackBerry devices that allows messaging (and videocalls for BlackBerry 10 smartphones) between BlackBerry users. BBM currently has more than 60 million monthly active customers on BlackBerry alone, and the overwhelming majority use BBM an average of 90 minutes per day.

The news comes in the wake of other rumours that Blackberry could fire 40% of its staff. This comes at a time that the company is suffering heavy losses from its failed PlayBook tablet and a fading popularity in the smartphone market.

Harley-Davidson Dealership Opens At Indore

Life style and leisure bike lovers in central India have one more reason to rejoice as Harley- Davidson India has started its first dealership in at Indore.

Newly opened ‘Tiger Harley-Davidson’ dealership in Indore is the company’s tenth dealership in the country.

“This is our first dealership in Madhya Pradesh and it is one of the largest Harley- Davidson showrooms in the country. We are excited to welcome new customers in central India to join our growing family of owners,” said Anoop Prakash, Managing Director, Harley-Davidson India.

The dealership in Indore will offer the entire Harley-Davidson India line up of 12 motorcycle models, in addition to Harley-Davidson riding gear, apparel and merchandise, said company officials.

“Harley-Davidson is famous for delivering a premium lifestyle experience to its customers, allowing them to explore their spirit for freedom and adventure. With its picturesque roads and vibrant culture, Indore is an ideal motorcycling destination,” said Manish Gupta, principal owner, Tiger Harley- Davidson.

The prices range of Harley-Davidson motorcycles available in Indore will be from Rs 583,409 (ex-showroom, Indore) to Rs 2,509,431 for its top end models.

The company assembles 9 out of its 12 models available in India in its Bawal, Haraya plant and plans to launch more models in India based on the response. The company has 30 Harley-Davidson motorcycle models world-wide.

“At present, we do not plan to have more assembling plants but we are surely looking for more dealerships across the country,” said Anoop Prakash.

We plan to open two more dealerships in Jaipur and Pune by the end of this year, added Prakash.

The company sees great potential in Indian two-wheeler market as 85% of the total two- wheeler market in the country is motorcycle market, said officials.

According to MD Anoop Prakash, Harley- Davidson holds more than 50% market share in above 500 cc segment in India and feels the prospects are bright for the company.

Harley Davidson sold around 2,000 premium segment bikes between 2010 and 2012 in India.

Grand, Spacious and now in diesel, its Hyundai Grand i10

Hyundai Motor India Limited launched its new hatchback Grand i10 in India at Rs. 4.30-5.48 lakh for the four petrol variants and Rs. 5.24-6.41 lakh for the four diesel variants.

The Grand i10 is a notch up from the successful but now-outdated i10. i10's sales have tapered in the last two years to below 100,000 units annually as it was adversely impacted by the shift in consumer demand towards more fuel efficient and smaller diesel cars.

When it goes on sale globally later this year, the Grand i10 would replace the existing i10, but in India both cars would continue to coexist.
The car has been touted as the buffer between the current i10 and the i20 — both in terms of price and specifications. But what makes the hatchback an Indian buyer’s delight? Its diesel variant.

The Grand i10 seemingly packs the punch that Hyundai has long needed to shake up the small car segment. It is available with a 1.2-litre Kappa petrol motor with higher tuning that develops 83 PS power and 116 NM torque. A 1.1-litre three-cylinder diesel variant — U2 — a derivative of the 4 cylinder 1.4 litre diesel motor that powers the more premium i20.

This motor belts out 71 PS power and 163 NM of torque. The diesel variant has come as a welcome announcement for those reeling under the burden of steeply increasing petrol prices. It has a rated fuel economy of 24 kmpl. The petrol variant delivers a fuel economy of 18.9 kmpl.

India’s second largest car manufacturer, Hyundai Motor India Limited has evidently made the move to challenge the supremacy of Maruti Suzuki in the Indian car market.

The hatchback adopts the international ‘fluidic’ design that is also present in the small cars i20 and Eon and sedans Verna, Elantra and Sonata.

However, the fluidic design is more understated here, possibly to differentiate it with the i20. Some of the features of the Grand i10 include rear air conditioning vents and 1 GB internal memory in the music system that does away with the need for a USB stick or compact disc. It also has push start ignition, a feature absent in the bestselling Maruti Swift.

A more spacious i10 with a diesel variant — sounds like a deadly combination, doesn’t it? The only concern would be the car cannibalising stablemates i10 and i20, something Hyundai would try to avoid as much as possible. But if all goes as planned for the Korean auto giant, this combo could end up delivering the knockout punch to other hatchbacks in the country and grab the best-selling tag.
