Veena not inspired by Vidya

Veena Malik who will be playing the lead role in the Kannada version of The Dirty Picture says that she is not inspired by actress Vidya Balan.

Veena said that, "When it comes to acting, I would not say I am inspired from Vidyaji because I have not seen her film, 'The Dirty Picture'."

She added, "I was planning to see it but when I got the Kannada version of the film, I decided against it because I did not want my character to have any outside imprints. Everyone is appreciating Vidyaji and no doubt, she is a wonderful actress."

Recently, Veena was in news for her intimate pictures with her "Mumbai 125 km" producer Hemant Madhukar. When asked about the same she said that, "That was not from my PR (public relation) team. We were also surprised to see those pictures. I don't know who clicked those pictures. But I would like to say, if going out with someone or having dinner means dating that person, then I think everyone is dating someone or the other."

The Dirty Picture which was one of the most successful movies of 2011 will now have a South Indian remake. The film was a biopic on southern siren Silk Smitha’s life. Vidya Balan played the role of the sex siren Silk Smitha in the hindi version (original) of The Dirty Picture. The Dirty Picture helped Vidya bag the National Award for her outstanding performance.

Earlier there were rumours that Tamil actress Nayanthara was approached for the role of Silk for the Kannada version. When asked Nayantara denied being offered any such role.

The Pakistani actress Veena Malik got famous after participating in the TV reality show Bigg Boss season 5. Veena has finished shooting for three Bollywood movies, Daal Mein Kuch Kaala Hai, Zindagi 50-50 and Mumbai 125 km and she has even signed Navin Batra's movie 'Supermodel' in which she will be seen with Ashmit Patel. It is said that the two will have sizzling love scenes in the film.

Ekta's fight over 'The Dirty Picture' TM

Ekta Kapoor, the business head of Balaji Films is not so happy with the way her movie title is being used. She has been carrying the title of 'The Dirty Picture' in style through award functions and is really not in good mood when the same name got snatched in for a Kannada movie which is under production starring Veena Malik. Ekta has openly expressed her disapproval for the use of the title and is said to have proceeded with legal action against the production team at Karnataka.

'The Dirty Picture' which is more like a trademark for Balaji productions has been a status symbol for the producers and actors. Especially when Vidya Balan, the lead protagonist did receive the National award for her talents expressed through the movie. Since the movie, Ekta has been specific on what she will like to share about the movie and what she hates to do. But when the news did break out that Veena Malik's movie in Kannada has the same title she was irked to the max!

The stranger part to this story is that Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce or KFCC has been said to have approved the title and is being granted to Venkatappa, one of the production head for the Kannada movie. The Kannada version of 'The Dirty Picture' is being directed by Trishul. It is said that Ekta has sent out a legal notice to the president of KFCC to cancel the permissions given to Venkatappa and stop the name being used in the movies.

The director of the movie has different thoughts on this issue and says that there has been no such legal boundaries of using a bollywood movie title on the regional language movies and claims that Ekta's legal notice will not stand grounds. He adds in the example of 'Houseful' and 'Bhadra' the movies had similar counter parts in Bollywood and Kannada. Since it wasn't a problem with those movies, he just doesn't agree to Ekta's claim for this movie. He also adds that the movie he is making is completely different movie from what Balaji productions had prepared and is never a 'inspired copy' of the original.

Ekta is said to have given a 5 day notice for the KFCC to take actions before she proceeds with the legal actions.

Rakhi's turn to get dirty !!!!

The film that saw Vidya Balan walk away with the National Award will be remade in Bengali. The makers of the new version of The Dirty Picture have said that Rakhi Sawant will play the lead role. Its time for Rakhi Sawant to get dirty in Bengal.

Rakhi said that, “Vidya Balan hasn’t done anything in The Dirty Picture. I will do better and hotter scenes in the Bengali remake. Even Vidya will be surprised after seeing my character. I will be better than her. The sari is meant to be taken off in films, not worn. Films become a hit because of this, not because of stars.”

She added that, “The remake will be directed by Shatabdi Roy, a member of Parliament who is as big as Amitabh, Jaya Bachchan or Rekha in Bengal. I got the role because of an item song I recently did in the Bengali movie titled Om Shanti. The song is very popular in Bengal right now.”

Tapas Paul, another member of Parliament and a former actor, is producing the film. Tapas said that, “We met Rakhi in Delhi recently and liked her item song in Om Shanti. Although we are 100 per cent sure about Rakhi playing the lead, negotiations are on for the male lead. Since The Dirty Picture can’t be completely remade, we have decided to make the Bengali version more like a sequel.”

The name of the Bengali remake is not yet finalized and other than Rakhi nothing else has been finalised. And the shooting dates of the film also have not yet been locked.

The Dirty Picture which was one of the most successful movies of 2011 will now have a South Indian remake as well as a Bengali remake. The lead role in the Kannada version of The Dirty Picture will be played by Veena Mallik. The film was a biopic on southern siren Silk Smitha’s life. Vidya Balan played the role of the sex siren Silk Smitha in the hindi version (original) of The Dirty Picture.

Veena won't have a swayamvar

Pakistani actress and model Veena Malik who dreamt of conducting her swayawar on Indian television will not be able to do so as NDTV Imagine TV has finally announced its closure.

According to the official statement of the channel ‘Imagine TV’ which was released earlier today, the channel ‘Imagine TV’ has shut down its operations in India from Thursday, 12th April 2012.

With the news of the channel shutting down there have been a lot of talks about Veena Mailk's swayamwar, the program for which all the preparations were already done.

Imagine TV was launched as NDTV Imagine in January 2008. According to sources, the channel was garnering less TRP’s. Turner Broadcasting System (U.S based media giant firm) Asia Pacific, a division of Time Warner’s Turner International, issued the statement to the media and relevant authorities about shutting down their Hindi general entertainment channel (GEC) ‘Imagine TV’ in India.

Siddharth Jain, the M.D. South Asia Turner International, said "The channel could not perform as per the expectations though a few of the shows got marvelous ratings but the overall business from the channel was below satisfactorily levels. Thus the company decided to close down the operations of the channel in India." He added that, "It was not a haste decision rather a very carefully decided decision. NTDV Network, the company which owned the majority stake of the channel Imagine TV initially, sold its part to the U.S based Turner International in year 2010."

Presently Turner International owns and runs a number of well-watched and popular TV channels such as CNN, HBO, Cartoon Network, TCM, WB and Boomerang in India.

So now Veena Malik's dream of becoming a bride on NDTV Imagine has come to an end.
