Market : Sensex goes back on 19000 as market opens with 293pts up.

The BSE benchmark Sensex on Friday regained 19,000 level by spurting 293 points in early trade, led by rally in oil and gas sector stocks after the government approved near doubling of natural gas prices to $8.4 from April 1, 2014.

The 30-share barometer surged by 292.94 points, or 1.55%, to 19,168.89 with oil and gas, auto and metal sectoral indices leading the rally. The index had gained 323.83 points in the previous session.

Similarly, the wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty regained 5,70 points by rising 88.65 points, or 1.56%, to 5,773.45.

Brokers said sentiments turned better after the government on day approved nearly doubling of natural gas prices to $8.4, triggering buying in oil gas sector stocks.

Besides a firming trend in the Asian region following overnight gains at the US markets too fuelled the rally on the domestic bourses here.

The Oil and gas sector index rose the most by gaining 4.12% to 8,965.63 as stocks of ONGC up by 5.62% to Rs. 338.55, Reliance Industries by 3.74% to Rs. 861.55 and Oil India by 2.79% to Rs. 589 and Cairn India by 2.33% to Rs. 294.70.

Meanwhile in Asia, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index rose by 0.77%, while Japan's Nikkei gained 3.29% in the early trade. The US Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.77% higher in on Thursday's trade.

Sports : England all set to take the cup - Champions Trophy

LONDON: Bubbling with confidence after an emphatic semifinal triumph, England cricket captain Alastair Cook is hoping that it his team's turn to lift the ICC Champions Trophy come Sunday.

"I've got no doubt that the guys in our dressing room will turn up on Sunday. You know, I'm fully confident in the lads that they can do that. I just hope it's our turn," Cook said after the seven-wicket win over South Africa in the first semifinal on Wednesday.

"...finals can bring out the best in people, and I think this England side in particular has delivered certainly when the chips have been down and the pressure has been up at its highest," he told reporters in the post-match press conference.

"It would be a massive achievement. It's very hard to do. It's taken a long time to get to the finals. We got to the finals in 2004 and couldn't quite get over the line. I hope this time we can get one better."

Cook said he never thought that the win against South Africa, who were bowled out for 175, would be so comfortable.

"Obviously if we had said we'd win by seven wickets by 5:00 o'clock today as we walked to the grounds, obviously, we would have almost laughed at you. But clearly it was a good toss to win, adjusted enough and it swung, first on the white ball," he said.

"It swung conventionally in this tournament. Probably down to the muggy conditions. It's obviously, quite warm out there today.

"When it does swing like that, there is no bowler in the world you'd want other than Jimmy (Anderson) bowling with it. Obviously, he was outstanding, and the other guys backed him up," he added.

Analysis

There has been silent talks about bowl tampering by the team as in the match against South Africa, we were able to view reverse swing in action very early towards the match. Both SA and Aussies have been having this complaint but unfortunately there are missing proofs of any such incidents. But how they allow this reverse swing to happen is still a mystery.

News : North India Floods 182 Lives claimed and many missing.

Close to 63,000 people remained stranded or cut off in rain-ravaged Uttarakhand on Wednesday as the toll touched 150 and the rain finally let up after three days, helping authorities step up rescue and relief operations.

However, with 400-odd roads and 21 bridges washed away and vast swathes of land under water, it remained an uphill task.

The number of dead in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh - where many rivers are in spate - stood at 18 and in Himachal Pradesh at 14, according to reports.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh announced a Rs. 1,000-crore relief package for Uttarakhand after an aerial survey of disaster-hit areas along with UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi.

Of this, Rs. 145 crore has already been released. Calling what he saw "most distressing", Singh said "the loss of life could eventually be much higher".

The PM announced ex-gratia assistance of Rs. 2 lakh each to the families of the dead and Rs. 50,000 to the injured. In addition, Rs. 1 lakh would be given to those whose houses were destroyed and Rs. 50,000 to those whose houses were damaged. Help also poured in from other states such as UP, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Delhi.

Gandhi, on her part, asked the chief ministers of the hill states to expedite relief work and restore power and communication. She plans to visit affected areas and relief camps shortly once again, Congress leader Ajay Maken said.

Market : Rupee Falls Down again, closing to Rs 60 against USD

The rupee trimmed its early losses but was still quoted lower by 83 paise to 59.53 per dollar after hitting 60-level on strong demand for the American currency from banks and importers amidst sharp fall in equity market.

Persistent capital outflows from foreign funds also affected the market sentiment.

The rupee resumed lower at 59.50 per dollar against the last closing level of 58.70 per dollar at Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) Market and dropped further to an all-time low of 60.00 per dollar before quoting at 59.53 per dollar at 1040 hrs.

In New York, the US dollar surged yesterday after Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said the central bank could slow the pace of its bond-buying programme later this year if its economic forecasts are accurate.

The Indian benchmark Sensex fell below the 19,000 level due to all-round selling pressure as the rupee hit record low against the dollar coupled with lower global cues. The Sensex dropped by 401.81 points, or 2.09%, to 18,843.89 in the late morning trade.

Bollywood : Jackie Chan's full hearted desire to act in Bollywood

Would you like to star in a Bollywood movie? Any international actor visiting India is asked this question and when put to Jackie Chan today, his answer was an emphatic "definitely, absolutely".

The Rush Hour star, who enjoys a huge fan following in India, inaugurated the first ever China Film Festival which opened with Jackie Chan-directed 'The Chinese Zodiac'. The actor-director-producer also took to mic to perform his popular song 'Country' live for the Indian audience.

In a press conference earlier, Jackie Chan, who introduced Mallika Sherawat to the world through his 2005 film The Myth, charmed the media by declaring his love for all things Indian – be it Aamir Khan's 3 Idiots, Bollywood or dishes like Kadahi chicken and biryani.

"10 years ago I stayed in India for a month shooting my film 'The Myth' here with Mallika (Sherawat). I saw lot of movies and watched MTV. I love the singing and dancing. I am a good singer. I hope that Indian directors call me with good roles. Actually, I am a very good actor and not only fight, fight, fight," he said amid laughter.

When asked who his favourite Indian actor was, a perplexed Jackie Chan said, "Forget it... I forget the name."

He recovered soon to add, "So many.. there are so many good Bollywood films not only '3 Idiots' which are not introduced to the world. There is not enough promotion. I know there are many action stars here and beautiful women. Choreographers are really really good, probably the best in the world."

"Today China is the second biggest film market in the world and in the next few years it would be the biggest market in the world. Same thing is with Bollywood. You are 1.2 billion people you have 12000. You are going to be a big market soon and when you are a big market everybody is coming to you, trying to understand your culture... it is a chain." Chan says.

He also talks about the recent tension in Indo-Chinese border...

Analysis

He is truly a humble gentleman who wants to be known only for his work, but the Indian reporters did try to mix politics into his interview and wasn't a pleasant sight. But however, the composed actor did manage to tackle the strong weapons of the media and made them walk back to the path that he is known for, his movies and actions! We will love to see his next movie whenever its up! :D

World News : Pak's Punjab province boosting up LeT front, JuD

Lahore: The government of Pakistan's Punjab province has allocated millions of rupees in its budget for fiscal 2013-14 for the largest centre of the Jamaat-ud-Dawah, considered a front for the banned Lashkar-e-Toiba.

Besides a grant-in-aid of over Rs 61 million for the JuD centre known as 'Markaz-e-Taiba', the provincial government has allocated Rs 350 million for setting up a "Knowledge Park" at the centre and other development initiatives.

Details of the allocations were presented in budget documents tabled in the Punjab Assembly yesterday by the PML-N government led by Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

One document stated: "Grant-in-aid to chief administrator Muridkey Markaz (is) Rs 61.35 million." The JuD's centre is located at Muridkay on the outskirts of Lahore. In his budget speech in the assembly, Finance Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman announced that the provincial government "intends to establish a Knowledge Park in Muridkey".

He said the government had allocated Rs 350 million for the park and several other initiatives in Punjab.

Shortly after the UN Security Council designated the JuD, a front for the LeT in the wake of the 2008 Mumbai attacks, the Punjab government took over the centre in Muridkey. At that time too, Punjab was ruled by the PML-N. Since then, the government has allocated money in its annual budget for the administration of the centre in Muridkey.

In 2009-10, the government provided more than Rs 82 million for the administration of JuD facilities. In fiscal 2010-11, Chief Minister Sharif, using his discretionary powers, allocated two separate grants for JuD facilities. The government granted Rs 79.77 million for six organisations at Markaz-e-Taiba and a special grant-in-aid of Rs 3 million for the JuD’s Al-Dawa School System in several districts of Punjab.

Analysis

These are the same organizations that Pak government has banned in 2009(news here)along with 25 other organizations. But however hard the government tries to clean up its face from these issues, they are silently aiding and supporting the organizations.

We hope that once the political stability is attained, there will be more clear vision on what actions get taken in the country.

News : Floods Take 131 Lives, More live in fear in Northern India

The death toll from the incessant rain, cloudbursts and landslides across Uttarakhand had reached 52 on Tuesday, officials said.

Fifty police personnel posted near Kedarnath were feared missing, authorities said, as they struggled to get a clear picture of the devastation in the remote mountainous regions.

The final toll could be in the hundreds, officials said. They said 27,000 pilgrims were stranded, and 11 choppers were called in to rescue them.

The total number of deaths across north India had reached 131 by Tuesday, PTI reported. Thousands have been displaced in Uttar Pradesh, where several rivers were in spate.

In Himachal Pradesh, 11 people were killed in floods and landslides, 10 of them in Kinnaur alone. About 1,700 people remained stranded across the hill state. Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, who was stranded in Kinnaur district for nearly 60 hours, was evacuated Tuesday morning by a private helicopter the Congress party had hired to campaign in the Mandi bypoll.

Reports reaching the state headquarters said personnel at the police camp near Kedarnath could not be reached. "There is no communication with about 50 police personnel posted at Kedarnath police camp until this evening. However, about 60 jawans posted at Gaurikund police camp are safe. They had moved to a higher place," said a police source.

Officials said the Kedarnath temple area faced the fury of the downpour around 7 pm on Sunday. The floodwater came with large rocks that hit the back wall of the temple. "Those who were inside the temple probably survived but those who were outside at different spots cannot be traced," said the officer who was a part of the rescue team and spoke to survivors.

Our Review

Scientists believe that this phenomenon happens once every 12 years or close, there will be extreme drought and an extreme downpour. We had the hottest summer time and when it comes to monsoon it is heavy as well. We hope that the death toll reduces and also that we do continue to receive the fair amount of rainfall.

Sports : ICC Champions trophy Semi- Finals

Jayawardene scored an unbeaten 84 to finish Man of the Match as Sri Lanka scored 253 for eight wickets in a must-win game. Nuwan Kulasekara took 3 for 42 Rangana Herath took 2 for 48 to snuff out a late challenge by the Aussies.

The Lankans are travelling to Cardiff on Tuesday to play the tournament's second semi-final against India on Thursday. On Wednesday, England take on South Africa in the first semis at the Oval.

Jayawardene, who reached 11,000 ODI runs on Monday, said the defeat against India in a warm-up game in Birmingham on June 1 was history. India easily chased down Lanka's 333 for five with Virat Kohli and Dinesh Karthik scoring big centuries.

"Warm up games or whatever, it doesn't count right now. It's a big tournament. It's the semifinal, so looking forward to that," said Jayawardene. He however admitted India's batting looked very strong in the tournament.

"I think they're playing some really good cricket. Their batting looks really strong, so those are key areas that we need to focus a bit on," the former Lankan captain said.

On his personal milestone, Jayawardene said: "I didn't feel anything. Obviously, pleased when the numbers came up. I can probably reflect more on that achievement tonight because we won the game as well. So importantly the contribution that I made towards the team is much more valuable for me." Jayawardene said Sri Lanka will be desperate to win the Champions Trophy, that they shared with India after rain washed out the finals in 2002 in Colombo.

"I'll be desperate for every game to win, simple as that. It's not about trophies or whatever, it's just to win matches. So I'll have that same passion and same desperation to win games, doesn't matter if it's a semifinal or final or just a group game. As long as I have that attitude along with the rest of the boys, we'll go a long way," he said.

Analysis

The match will be worth watching as the champions India will take on Srilanka in the semi final match to be held tomorrow. The teams who have looked in extraordinary strengths will try to face off.

World : New hope for Syria as Putin and Obama Agrees to push peace talks

Russian President Vladimir Putin and U.S. President Barack Obama say their “opinions do not coincide” on the bloody Syrian civil war but they’ve agreed to “push” the Assad regime and opposition forces back to the negotiation table for peace talks.

Putin and Obama emerged late Monday from a two-hour bilateral meeting at the G8 summit in Northern Ireland to announce they still don’t see eye-to-eye on the Syrian conflict, but they’re both committed to reducing escalating violence and use of chemical weapons.

“Of course, our opinions do not coincide, but all of us have the intention to stop the violence in Syria and to stop the growth of victims and to solve the situation peacefully, including by bringing the parties to the negotiating table in Geneva. We agreed to push the parties to the negotiating table,” Putin said through a translator following his bilateral meeting with Obama.

“We do have different perspectives on the problem, but we share an interest in reducing the violence, securing chemical weapons and ensuring they are neither used nor are they subject to proliferation, and that we want to try to resolve the issue through political means, if possible,” Obama said.

“And so we have instructed our teams to continue to work on the potential of a Geneva followup to the first meeting.”

The two leaders also released a joint statement saying they have agreed to hold a U.S.-Russia summit in Moscow on Sept. 3-4, 2013, to “discuss in greater detail the full range of bilateral and international issues.”

Both sides have reached an understanding on a “positive agenda for relations between our countries” that includes arms control, non-proliferation, international security, trade, responding to global threats, countering terrorism and militant extremism, says the statement.

Monsoon Fury : Thousands lost homes, most affected in Uttarakhand

New Delhi: With incessant rains lashing most parts of North India for the past few days - Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are worst hit – normal life has been severely affected, leaving over 60 people dead and thousands stranded.

Flashfloods in the Ganga and its tributaries triggered by incessant rains for over 48 hours left a trail of death and devastation across Uttarakhand killing 37 people, injuring 34 and damaging 164 buildings.

The grave situation in Uttarakhand led to suspension of the annual Kailash Mansarovar yatra owing to the relentless rains and consequent landslides.

The rains, which began Saturday night, have continued for the past two days. The Met department said the rains in the month of June have since broken an 88-year record.

The worst-hit areas include Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi, where Mandakini river is in spate. In Rambada, the river water entered the market area.

Sources say more than 58,000 people are stranded at different places on the route of the Chardham Yatra - Yamunotri, Gangotri, Badrinath and Kedarnath.

Rescue operations are being carried out in the hill state by the Army, para-military Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and disaster management authority.

Also, several parts of Haryana were flooded after water level of Yamuna rose alarmingly. The Yamuna river, which enters Haryana from Uttarakhand at Hathnikund barrage in Yamunanagar district, had swelled since early Saturday after over 800,000 cusecs of water was released Monday morning through the Hathnikund barrage.

Politics : Narendra Modi starts his intense campaigns - Meets MM Joshi, L K Advani and Rajnath Singh

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi met senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi here today.

" He (Modi) came to express his gratitude after being anointed as Chairman of BJP campaign committee," Joshi told media after meeting Modi

" He told me that he is including everyone in the process and will uphold this responsibility well," he added.

Modi, who is in Delhi to meet Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia to finalise the state's annual plan, will also reportedly meet BJP leader LK Advani and later hold talks with party chief Rajnath Singh and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.

This will be the first interaction between Advani and Modi since the latter had resigned from three key forums of BJP in the wake of the former's elevation to head the party's campaign committee. Advani, however, later withdrew his resignation.

Meanwhile, Bhagwat is also expected to meet Advani today.

Bhagwat, who had played a significant role in asking Advani to withdraw his resignation from key posts of the BJP last week, has decided to meet the latter despite him voicing grievance over Modi's elevation as the BJP's 2014 poll panel chief.

Our Review

This is not a surprising act by Modi who has caused BJP to loose their greatest of alliances in the past 15 years, with JDU gone, BJP is forced to take these surprise steps to ensure that they are still in the chair games that are to start in few more months to come. There are reports that Modi has been planning some extensive measures to be in the point of attention.

There is report that Modi will be visiting the controversial Ayodhya temple and perform prayers there. There are also plans of extensive tours across the nation carrying out rallies.

The chair games continue!

Business : Infosys hikes the Salary , so does wipro!

BANGALORE: NR Narayana Murthy has made his first significant move upon returning to Infosys by effecting an unexpected round of wage increases for the company's 1.5 lakh employees. By doing so, analysts said, the Infosys chairman is trying to kill several birds with one stone, displaying tactical finesse that has earned him a reputation as one of India's canniest entrepreneurs.

On Thursday, less than a fortnight after Murthy came back to helm the company, Infosys announced an average increment of 8% for India employees, effective from July 1. For employees outside India, the company said the increments will be 3%, albeit with some riders. The biggest push was reserved for its global sales force which will get a raise of 8% effective May. Wipro, which announced increments in July last year, also sent a note about an hour after the news from Infosys. It said it is giving an average increment of 6-8% for offshore employees and 2-3% for onsite employees, effective from June 2013. For high-performers, the raise will be in double digits. A Wipro spokeswoman said the emailed note was in response to media queries.

"There have been serious issues with employee motivation levels at Infosys. Wipro rolling out wage hikes on the same day shows that it wants to ensure the company doesn't lose employees to Infosys," said Pradeep Mukerji, president and managing partner at outsourcing advisory firm Avasant. Infosys's populist move — a certain vote-winner among staff — could raise morale, enhance Murthy's stock of goodwill and send out a message to all stakeholders and rivals that the Infosys co-founder is back and means business. "By announcing wage hikes, Infosys wants to calm down anxiety among its employees and stabilize things within the organization. It is a smart move; however, we do not expect more bold moves from Murthy," said Manish Bahl, country manager at Forrester Research. "He will be focused on getting things aligned, talking to clients and creating expertise on the product innovation side."

Our Analysis

That is a great news after a long for the industry as the trend is supposed to be continued over to other giants and it will be a good time to do so. Again, thanks to the spike of USD in the international market, this has enabled the IT companies to have a better command over the financial situations.

Again, this might be a tactical move as the infosys share has not been doing great at the market and was easily brought down by leaders like TCS - so this move should keep the employees on their share and strike back to the market at right time.

Politics: An Alliance break between JDU and BJP?

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal United (JDU) is expected to part ways with the Bharatiya Janata Party or BJP and end the 18-year alliance this weekend, sources have told NDTV. A final decision on snapping ties could be taken at a JDU meeting in Patna on Saturday.

BJP President Rajnath Singh is scheduled to arrive in the state capital on June 23. Sources say all that's left between the two sides is the handling of exit formalities.

Ahead of Mr Singh's arrival, the BJP in Bihar held an emergency meeting last evening to discuss its strategy for the break-up and after. The BJP reportedly wants Mr Kumar to resign as Chief Minister first and then meet the Governor to stake claim to form the government again.

Yesterday, senior BJP leaders Rajnath Singh and LK Advani phoned Mr Kumar; but sources say he did not reassure them that he will rethink his decision to end the alliance.

Making it clear that he's ready to move on, Mr Kumar in fact confirmed to reporters yesterday that he is in talks with two other regional powerhouses - West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik - about attempts to assemble a "federal" or Third Front to take on the coalitions led by the BJP and the Congress in the national election.

Nitish Kumar and his party are unhappy with Narendra Modi's elevation as chairman of the BJP's campaign committee. They allege that Mr Modi didn't do enough to protect the hundreds of Muslims who were killed in the riots that ravaged Gujarat in 2002.

Our Analysis
The case should be too difficult and we expect more changes from BJP to counter this move from JDU, with JDU out, there is always a tough chance for BJP to gain back power and that is not a situation which they want to be in after the 10 year long UPA rule.
Although JDU seems to be pretty strong on their decision to avoid Narendra Modi out of the PM equation, we really are not sure if it is out of emotion or there are any other political actions in mind. CPI(M) has already ruled out the possibility of a third front, but since this is the start of the game we will better wait n watch!

Patna: Nearly 100 armed Maoists on Thursday attacked the Dhanbad-Patna Intercity Express in Bihar with an aim to snatch the weapons from RPF personnel on board.

The passenger train was attacked near Kundra halt just before the Jamui railway station, reports claimed.

According to reports, the ultras tried to intercept the Patna-bound passenger train and opened indiscriminate firing in which the driver of the train was seriously injured.

The rebels also attacked RPF and CRPF security jawans, who were escorting the train, and tried to snatch their weapons. Additional CRPF battalions from Lakhisarai and Jamui were immediately rushed to the attack site of Bihar's Jamui district.

Market: Investment in gold won't be a good idea!

Till date, gold has been regarded as a safe bet for most investors, although it does see fluctuations in market, there has been rare incidents where the gold has gone down the buying price of any investors. But the finance minister says that the scenario is going to change soon as the government has no plans of increasing the import duty on gold!

Mr. Chidambaram was talking to Economic Times when he assured that the INR will find its way back to a safer position than what it is now.
According to Chidambaram it is wrong to say that gold is the 'safest investment' option. "It is wrong to say that there aren't other attractive investment instruments," he said. "People who are financially well informed should put their investments in other financial instruments," he added.

"I once again appeal to everyone to resist the temptation to buy gold. This will show positive impact on every aspect of Indian Economy," Chidambaram said.

Chidambaram went on to say that people will invest only when they get a good price on their investments. "People think that they are buying gold in rupees. Actually they are buying gold in dollars," he said. "If for one year there are no gold imports, it will change the current account deficit story of the country" he added.

Seeking to reassure that the panic over rupee's depreciation is unwarranted, Chidambaram said, "Steps have been taken to cure the currency's fall."

"There is concern about the rupee. What is happening in India is not unusual for countries with large current account deficit." According to Chidambaram, the rupee has been 'remarkably stable' over the last ten months.

Reiterating that there is 'no need to panic', Chidambaram said, "Rupee will find its level, we are concerned about the volatility. It is quite possible that rupee will regain losses."

In an attempt to woo investors to invest in the Indian markets and economy, Chidambaram said, "A number of measures have to be taken to revise growth in economy, fiscal consolidation tops list, followed by moderating inflation."

Stating that reviving investments is top priority, Chidambaram said, "After about 9 months we have acknowledgment that steps that we have taken have delivered results." "Reviving investor sentiment will yield results; the world continues to repose faith in India," he added.

While acknowledging that steps taken by the government have had the desired effect, Chidambaram said that the investment climate can benefit from more reforms. Reviving economy, rejuvenating investment sentiment might be slow, but we do not take our eyes off the ball, Chidambaram sought to assure.

"It is not an ODI match, a wicket or a six is expected in every ball in an ODI, economic reforms don't work that way," he said on a lighter note. "We have to take long term view of what is happening in India; results have been achieved; looking forward to more reforms," Chidambaram said. Chidambaram went on to highlight measures that the government will take in order to boost economic growth and contain fiscal and current account deficit. "These will include gas pricing, FDI limits, steps to be taken by SEBI based on Chandrashekhar Committee report, and skill development," he said.

So it is always a soothing sign for an average investor but many will be sad that the Gold prices will be seeing no great deflections through the coming days. Will this be a good news? It will only be decided by the coming times, at the moment, with the markets showing drastic changes, we are sure that Gold is still the safe bet!

Politics: Why BJP still wants to hold with Advani

After the much of debate, the senior leader to BJP, L. K. Advani was forced to cancel his resignation. The whole of nation was talking about the differences between Mr. Advani and Narendra Modi. But these differences are now referred to as internal and the BJP doesn't want their senior leader out.

On the backside of this note, there has been another opinion posted in by OneIndia (http://news.oneindia.com) opening up another perspective on this issue
Advani, who recently withdrew his resignation from all posts of BJP, was given the responsibility to break the ice between Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and other BJP leaders. According to sources, Kumar and his party JD(U) may break its 17-year-old ties with BJP and may join Congress. JD(U) leaders reportedly were disappointed with BJP which recently has promoted Gujarat CM Narendra Modi as its election campaign chairman.

JD(U) sources said that its leaders are convinced that BJP would declare Modi as its Prime Minister nominee for the upcoming elections which are expected to be held in 2014. Kumar has always been opposing Modi's candidature for the BJP PM post. Kumar, who is expected to announce the party's final decision after June 14, on Thursday, June 13 confirmed that he spoke to BJP leaders Rajnath Singh and Advani. However, he did not give any assurance to the BJP leaders about salvaging the partnership to contest the national elections together.
So this might be the ultimate case that RSS and other allies of BJP doesn't want Advani out of the equation as his expertise would certainly drive the JDU people back with the BJP, who has all eyes on the government, as Congress has not been able to impress the citizens with their drastic economic and social reforms.

Unfortunately when it comes to corruption, both parties are still giving one another a tough competition!!

We couldn't skip over the interesting snippet over the Robert Vadra's latest deals from DNA(www.dnaindia.com). Now apart from Mr. Robert Vadra being the son-in-law of INC president Soniya Gandhi, we cannot find any reason on why an RTI could get rejected!
In February, Thakur also filed a request under the Right to Information Act asking the PMO what action it had taken on her letter seeking a probe against Vadra. She also sought information on the PMO’s affidavit in the Allahabad high court. She told dna that she just wanted to know the ‘file notings’ related to action taken by the PMO. On March 1, the PMO refused to share the information, and said that the information cannot be provided to her since the matter was “sub-judice”.

Thakur sent a second RTI request to the PMO, seeking the same information in May. With the matter now being out of court, the PMO was in a position to respond to the RTI request. However, on June 6, the PMO again refused to furnish the information. “The office, keeping in view the Supreme Court ruling, has sought exemption as the matter has been treated as confidential,” the PMO said.

The PMO was referring to an apex court ruling which states that “the exemption under section 8(1) (e), of the RTI Act, is available not only in regard to information that is held by a public authority in a fiduciary capacity, but also to any information that is given or made available by a public authority to anyone else for being held in a fiduciary capacity.”

“In other words, anything given and taken in confidence expecting confidentiality to be maintained will be information available to a person in fiduciary relationship,” the PMO said quoting the Supreme Court ruling.

We wonder how long this will go, we had a similar incident when the Aam Aadmi Party had tried to gain more information about the business that INC's son-in-law does!

Srinivasan Cornered : Two top officials of BCCI resigns

New Delhi/ Mumbai/ Chennai: The walls are closing in on Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) chief N Srinivasan after two top board officials - Treasurer Ajay Shirke and Secretary Sanjay Jagdale - quit on Friday evening. Other BCCI office-bearers also likely to resign forcing Srinivasan to call a board meeting early next week, say sources.

Shirke who was appointed by Srinivasan in the panel to investigate the complaints about players having link with the bookies. Both Shirke and Jagdale was also named as the most close associates of Srinivasan in BCCI, but with the two gone, it seems that Srinivasan will have a tough time. The board which has 18 members against Mr. Srinivasan holding the president post and 8 members with him. With the upcoming board meeting on June 8, that should seal the fate.

Again the resignation decision still rests in hands of Mr. Srinivasan as he can choose to hold on to the post, in which case, the board can appoint a intermediary committee which will monitor the boards operations until the investigations are complete. Following the resignation, Mr. Shirke told the media,

"This is just my decision. This has nothing to do with anything else. I was feeling very hurt, very upset [with the off-field issues]. I want to see cricket as a game," he said. "I had already requested the president to not keep me on the panel," said Jagdale and added that quitting the president's post is entirely Srinivasan's decision. "Frankly, I leave it to him. He has been in the game longer than me. I don't think there is any personal allegation against him."

"It's just the day I have resigned. It [working with a different president] will depend on the freedom or mindset of that president," Shirke said.
It was a crippling blow for the BCCI president who walked out of Chennai airport, into a media scrum and his hold over the cricket board slipping away rapidly. Not surprisingly, Srinivasan stayed quiet even as reports started to emerge that resignations of other key officials were inevitable.
