Javed Akhtar not happy with Zanjeer remake

Remakes in B-town have become a trend nowadays. Amit Mehra son of Producer-director Prakash Mehra who is working on the script of the remake of Zanjeer might not be able to make the film.

Unfortunately for him Javed Akhtar, who co-wrote the original film, isn’t happy about this development. Expressing his displeasure he said, “Agar script ke rights mil bhi jaayen, kisi bhi tarah ki tabdeeli ke liye writer ki permission leni hoti hai.” (Even if you buy the rights to the script, you need permission of the writers to modify it in any way.)

Lyricist Javed Akhtar said, "Mujhe yeh baat theek nahi lagi aur Salim sahib ne bhi mujhe phone kiya ki the ones who are remaking "Zanjeer" have not sought our permission. Yeh tareeka galat hai. Even if we consider the current copyright laws, they say that it is the creator's moral right over his or her creation, to maintain its sanctity and originality. If I buy Hussain's painting for 2 crore, I can hang it on my wall, lekin mujhe yeh right nahin hai ki uspar ek face bana hai to main uspe mooch bana doon. Yeh crime hoga. This right is not transferable and cannot be stolen either. Agar script ke rights mil bhi jaayen, kisi bhi tarah ki tabdeeli ke liye writer ki permission leni hoti hai. Hum Premchand ya Tagore ki lekhini mein do paragraph apne nahi daal sakte. Woh crime hoga." 

Amit Mehra said, “I will discuss the ‘Zanjeer’ remake script with Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar once it`s ready.”

Where was Javed Akhtar when his son Farhan Akhtar was remaking Don, co-written by him and Salim Khan?

Hosanna Trouble for AR Rahman

No, its not a joke, the CSF or the Christian Secular Forum has a problem with the song and they have asked the producers to avoid the use of the word 'Hosanna' from the song(seriously?) plus want a public apology from the composer and lyricist for the use of the word. The news spread out as the song of the movie 'Ek Diwana Tha' which stars Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson has gained publicity. The song has the soul resided on the word 'Hosanna' which is the controversy now.

The CSF, Mumbai has issued an email statement to the lyricist Javed Akhtar, composer A R Rahman and the members associated with the movie from Fox Star Studios and Sony Music India, expressing the concern over the word and have also asked a public apology for using the holy word in the song. 

According to CSF, the word 'Hosanna' is a prayer used in Bible and is widely used by Christians and Jews. The forum finds that the song uses the sacred word in wrong context. The CSF also plans to move court against Fox Star Studios and Sony Music as well as file a police complaint against those concerned.

Now seriously thinking, why should this be a issue at all? Is it the fame game? This will have gone out as one of the best songs by A R Rahman but still there has to be a controversy. The same song in Tamil went out to be a super duper hit minus the controversy!

I had approached Salman 2 times - Farhan Akhtar

Salman Khan wont work with Farhan?

Recent promos of Don 2 has created yet another controversy for Salman Khan. Media had noted that Farhan Akhtar had directed couple of movies with the King Khan, Shahrukh Khan, but has never done one with Salman Khan. When asked by the media as to why the difference was, Farhan mentioned that he had approached Salman Khan two times with a project which got rejected.

Farhan also went ahead and mentioned that there are no personal issues with the rejections, it seems that the stories did not suit Salman Khan the way he expected. The other story that runs along is the rivalry between the parents of both actors. Javed Akhtar and Salim Khan used to be good friends at one age and later had their differences in profession. The reports mention that there was an issue with respect to the fame that Javed Akhtar received for the scripts which did have Salim Khans ink.

 

Anyways, Farhan has already put an end to such allegations and mentioned that this is thoroughly profession decision on Salman's part and did not wish to comment further.

We will never know the truth as long as it is shut!
