20 Kilo Litres Of Free Water For Delhi : AAP fulfills the promise

Aam Admi Party clears the fog and the Delhi Jal Authority will give 20 Kilo litres of water free to Delhi residents. This was one of the statements and promises by AAP during election campaign and many will be surprised that the decision came out as quick as a week. The free water will be available from tomorrow, January 1, 2014.

"All the domestic consumers having metered connection will get 20 kilolitres of water free of cost from January 1. We will not even levy any existing charges such as water cess and sewerage charge," newly-appointed Delhi jal Board CEO Vijay Kumar told reporters.

AAP leader Arvind Kejariwal had presided over the Jal Authority board before the decision came out. Last month, Delhi Jal Board had planned to increase the water tariff by 10 per cent from January to improve its finances.

The new change has been opposed by BJP saying that it will benefit only those people who have water meters fitted to their connection not those who really need the water.

It is not immediately clear whether government will charge for water being supplied to over 1,600 unauthorised colonies across the city as in most households in these settlements water metres are yet to be installed.

Although these allegations seem to be political as the situation may be already analyzed by the board and appropriate decision will be made. Three cheers for AAP for what they are doing now.

No Intentions Of Making Govt., We are Runner-ups - AAP

Aam Admi party clarifies their stance as the election has resulted in no single party getting the magical number 36 to rule the government. AAP in their first outing surprised the congress by grabbing 28 seats and this is marked as a major victory.

There were rumors that AAP will be forming the government supported by BJP, but it seems that Yogendra Yadav, the leader of AAP has no intentions to join in hands there. "I find it unique that the party in first position is asking party in second position to form the government", he said, in response to reports that the BJP had said that it was willing to sit in the opposition, in Delhi.

"If the Lt Governor asks us then we will tell him we have only 28 MLAs and that does not add up to 36. AAP has not got the vote to form the next government, and it would be unfair to do so", he added.

The idea was also conveyed out by Arvind Kejriwal who said that the outing was good for AAP and they wished they had the majority and could form a government. "I completely agree that if we had a majority it would have been different, but Rome wasn't built in a day", he said. "Now let's see what they do. I would encourage BJP and Congress to join hands as their ideology is the same", he said.

So although the elections has been a clear statement it still puts Delhi back on square zero. The nation is eagerly watching what moves does the leading national parties, BJP and Congress make to work this out.

Hindutva Is Not The Agenda, Its Development For All That Is Planned : Modi

Hardcore governance, and not Hindutva or shades of it, would figure in the BJP’s main battle theme for the Delhi elections as well as the 2014 polls, BJP prime minister candidate Narendra Modi indicated on Sunday.

At his first rally in Delhi since becoming the party’s face for the elections, Modi gave out the slogan, ‘Nation First, India First’ in response to the demand to declare the BJP’s plank. He also announced that the BJP’s new slogan would be “saab ke saath and saab ke vikas” (With all, and for everyone’s development.)

Hindustan Times had reported on September 15, two days after he was named PM candidate, that Modi slogan will be "”India First” -- for shaping the new governmental policies in key sectors.

Modi’s emphasis on Sunday was also that “there is only one religion for the government -- Nation First and India First. There is only one philosophy for the government -- Nation First and India First. There is only one holy book, the Constitution of India. Nothing else matters or will matter. There is only one credo -- care of every one of 125 crore Indians.”

Modi’s heavy development dose comes in the backdrop of hitherto-not disclaimed reports from Ahmedabad that the Gujarat chief minister has conveyed to some Muslim leaders that issues like Ram temple were not his party’s main plank and they should have no misgivings about any discrimination under future BJP dispensation.
Modi on Sunday spoke about what should be the development goal when India enters the 75th year of its existence as a nation in 2022. Saying that in the next nine years, the government must have a vision that guarantees every person a decent life free of worries about food, shelter or work, Modi talked of the “Great Indian Dream”, urging every village and town to aspire for a better life. He vowed that neither the BJP nor he would break that dream.

The thrust of Modi’s rally address was that “if you deliver good governance, there will be growth; if you deliver good governance, there will be economic opportunities, development and everything else.”

Another Gang Rape In Delhi : Woman Thrown Naked On Street

Gurgaon: A 25-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped and dumped on a road in the heart of the satellite town of Gurgaon near Delhi last night.

The police say they received a call at around 10 pm about the woman. She was found naked and unconscious near the upscale Sushant Lok area, with injuries on her body, a swollen lip and bruises on her face.

In her complaint to the police, the woman, who is married and works at a garment factory, said she was returning from work at around 8 pm when a car stopped and she was dragged into it by four or five men inside.

The men allegedly forced her to drink alcohol and after taking her to an isolated spot, took turns to rape her. They finally dumped her on the road.

The cops say the woman refused a medical test yesterday as she was shaken, but based on her injuries, a case of gang-rape has been registered.

The case raises fresh concerns about the safety of women in the capital and its neighbouring areas, despite tough policing and laws implemented after the fatal gang-rape of a young medical student in Delhi last year. Four men were sentenced to death in the case a fortnight ago, with the judge commenting on the 'hair-raising and beastly' attack on the girl.

Breaking : Death Sentence For All Four Convicts

Four convicts in the December 16 gangrape-cum-murder case were on Friday awarded death penalty by a Delhi court which said the gravity of the offence cannot be tolerated.

“Death to all,” Additional Sessions Judge Yogesh Khanna said while delivering the verdict in the case that had evoked nationwide outrage and led the government to bring in a stringent anti-rape law.

“Besides discussing others offences, I straightaway come to section 302 (murder) of IPC. This falls under inhuman nature of the convicts and the gravity of offence they committed cannot be tolerated. Death sentence is given to all the four convicts,” he said.

The offence committed by Mukesh (26), Akshay Thakur (28), Pawan Gupta (19) and Vinay Sharma (20) falls under the rarest of rare category warranting capital punishment, the judge said.

The four were convicted by the court on September 10 for the gangrape and murder of a 23-year-old paramedic student.

“Court cannot turn a blind eye to such a gruesome act,” the judge said, while handing down the maximum punishment.

He said, “When crime against women is rising on day-to-day basis, so, at this point in time court cannot keep its eye shut.”

“There should be exemplary punishment in view of the unparallelled brutality with which the victim was gangraped and murdered, as the case falls under the rarest of rare category. All be given death,” the court said while reading out a portion of the order.

“This is a time when serious crime against a woman has come to the fore and now its judiciary’s responsibility to instill confidence among the women,” it said.

Besides murder, the four have been also convicted for offences including gangrape, unnatural offences, attempt to murder, dacoity, destruction of evidence, conspiracy, kidnapping or abducting in order to murder, while acquitting them of the charge of murder in dacoity.

Delhi Gang Rape : The Verdict Comes In Today, Parents Demand Death Sentence

A special court is likely to pronounce its verdict in the December 16 gang-rape and murder case that shook the collective conscience of the country and sparked outrage that forced the government to bring a stringent law and set up special courts.

The verdict is being closely watched as the country has seen a rise in crime against women, which, among other things is blamed on a clogged and slow-moving judicial system.

The four accused — Vinay, Akshay, Pawan and Mukesh — can be sentenced to death, if found guilty. Their under-aged accomplice, who has since turned 18, has been sent to a reform home for three years after a juvenile board handed down a guilty verdict on August 31.

The sixth accused, Ram Singh was found hanging in his Tihar jail cell in March.

The parents of the victim have already demanded death sentence for all the accused. They were crestfallen after the juvenile was given a mild punishment.

“Nothing short of a death sentence for all the accused will satisfy us. Only that can bring peace to our minds and to the whole country,” the victim’s father told HT.

The accused had raped the 23-year-old trainee physiotherapist and then shoved an iron rod into her body in a moving bus after assaulting her male friend, the prosecution said.

After brutalising the woman, the men threw the couple out of the bus.The woman succumbed to her injuries on December 29 at a Singapore hospital.

Winding up his arguments on the day on September 3, the day court reserved its judgment, special public prosecutor Dayan Krishnan said he had placed sufficient evidence to nail each accused. Defence though said none of the accused was on the bus and they were being framed.

The trial began on February 2, with the court charging the five accused with 13 offences, including gang-rape, murder, kidnapping, unnatural offences, attempt to murder, dacoity, destruction of evidence and conspiracy.

Proceedings against Ram Singh , considered to be the prime accused, ceased after his death on March 11.

The woman’s friend was among the 84 prosecution witnesses, all of whom stood by their statements in the court.

Her mother, the investigating officer, the magistrate who recorded the dying declaration, some policemen, doctors who treated her at the Safdarjung hospital, where she battled for life for 10 days, and DNA experts also testified during the trial.

Social: Delhi Gang Rape : 24 Hours

One of the brutal incidents in the near past happened in Delhi where a women was raped by a gang and her friend was brutally assaulted with an iron rod. Thanks to Delhi police it took only 24 hours to solve the crime and to get the culprits into the hands of law.

A 23-year-old, para-medical student was gangraped in a private moving bus on Sunday night between Munirka and Mahipalpur in south Delhi area. The girl was gangraped, brutally beaten, stripped and thrown out of the whiteline bus near Mahipalpur flyover along with her male friend, who managed to file a police complaint at around 1.15 am. The incident, according to reports, happened at 9.30 pm. The duo had boarded the bus from Munirka and were on their way to Palam, where the girl stays.

The arrested 32-year-old is the driver of the bus, Ram Singh. It was his brother Mukesh who was driving the bus at the time of the crime. He, along with four to five others have been detained and raids are on to arrest all the accused, sources added.

The tracking was done in under 24 hours, however the Police is not sure what started the argument, but the bus was loaded with 7 passengers when the couple entered in and there are suggestions that there was an argument with the male passenger and others. However only four of them is accused of this incident. Here is the set of incidents which helped the police uncover the mystery:

* The CCTV cams on the highway showed the bus pass by at 9PM which indicated that the bus had written 'Yadav' on its side. With seats and blinds design visible.
* The police went to a bus stand in RK Puram sector 3, close to Munirka, where the victim and her friend had boarded the bus. About 40 white buses are usually parked at the stand and transporters there identified it as a bus used to ferrying children at a south Delhi school.
* The police then traced the bus to suburban Noida and tracked down the bus driver, Ram Singh, now the main accused in the case.

* The police were also able to track the remaining assailants via mobile and also that one of them had picked up the mobile of the victims did help.

What happens to them will be watched over the media as there is more row of people lining up to protest against this mishap, it has been put on to the government to analyze their security and to give a meaningful justification to why the capital city is being subjected to this violence.

What Should Be Done

We personally feel that the victims should be chemically castrated, as a fair warning to the future assailants who think that they can get away after having committed such an act.

There should be fair count of checking atleast in the city perimeter to avoid such an incident which happened just around the evening time.

As for women, please be equipped with a pepper spray or a similar safeguard material so that you can atleast make your way out when you can. As we are living in a free country, it is not advisable to stay back home, but please be safe than be sorry.

What we also advise is that be good enough or have a friend good enough to check the situation of your travel and if you have a slightest of doubts, get out of it as quickly as possible.

Be suspicious to anyone you meet and always be prepared. Sounds crazy but should help in avoiding getting into such.

These are just few crazy thoughts that we feel when we heard it, hopefully we will have a much tougher law passed on.

For us, it's always been family first - Kareena

The love saga of Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan continues to make the bollywood proud as once again the couple has made sure that it is always family and not work that comes first. Even when they are in two parts of the world, they make sure that they find time for each other and spend it wisely. Yes, I am talking about their time together, which happened recently at Delhi.

Saif Ali Khan had recently flown from South Africa to Delhi to host Bhopal Pataudi Polo Tournament in Delhi and he did not want to miss his lady love here and she came running to him. A source close to the couple mentioned "Whenever Saif shoots abroad, Kareena always makes it a point to fly down to be with him and he too does the same, so that they can spend some time together. Also, he was to come to town for the polo tournament so Saif decided to spend some quality time with Kareena too. Sometime ago he had come to Bangkok all the way from London, where he was shooting to meet Kareena. It was a 12-hour journey but Saif was determined to go. This year Kareena flew down to London and whisked Saif off to Paris for a birthday celebration. She had specially requested his producer Dinesh Vijan for some time off for Saif. Whenever both have time they fly down to where the other is shooting and spend time together."

Kareena says, "Yes Saif did come back for from South Africa. It was important for both of us to be at the polo match as it was the first year after Saif's father passed away. He came back for that. We also spent some time together after the polo match as both of us have been shooting for our individual films - he for Cocktail and me for Heroine so we didn't have time to meet for some time. For us, it's always been family first."

Mausam Premiers but miss essentials!

hahid Kapoor had decided to make the event grander than any other movie events, but had made careful selections for the guest list. Which was much noted with the absence of the Royal bride, Kareena Kapoor or his ex-flame. But he chose to invite Priyanka Chopra and Vidya Balan who were allegedly having an affair with Shahid. As he snubbed his first celebrity love Kareena, some people decided to snub him back. The most prominent were both Vidya and Priyanka who were not present at the event.

The event did go colorful though with the leading stars such as Shahid and Sonam accompanied by Genelia D'Souza, Bipasha Basu, Sonakshi Sinha, Amisha Patel, Kangna Ranaut, Tabu, his Dil Bole Hadippa costar Rani Mukerji, Aayesha Takia and even Amrita Rao (who happens to be Shahid's ex-love as well). But the absence of Priyanka and Vidya did not go without discussion. The reason for which the actors failed to attend sounded quite genuine, a source at the function said "The two actresses are busy with their work, Vidya is working on Dirty Picture and Priyanka is at the award function at Delhi with SRK, so they did miss the premiere".

Although it is said that the co-actor for Vidya in Dirty Picture, Tushaar Kapoor had took few hours break to attend the birthday function of Hum Tum Shabana director Sunil Chainani, but this option did not go with Vidya for moving out of the camp. The fact that Priyanka could have also missed the award function did have a stir in the crowd.

The other two actors, Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor, who did make their names into discussion with their absence. Both Imran and Ranbir are close buddies to Shahid and this was the reason why their names got discussed too much. Imran Khan although had made his representation with his wife Avantikaa and she was accompanied by Ayaan Mukherjee. Although the miss of Ranbir was kind of expected with Sonam Kapoor, who was his ex-love, attending the function. A source mentioned "Shahid knew that Ranbir will be missing the function with Sonam attending it".

Although another person close to Ranbir did mention "Ranbir was scheduled to attend the function but is now tied to the shooting sets of Chandivili". Another silent rumour went out that Imran opted out of the function since the opening of movie Mausam was higher than Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. Although the opening profits were confirmed by the producer "Yes, we did a 15 per cent higher gross opening than Mere Brother Ki Dulhan's registered opening".

John Strong on Principles

Mumbai:  The general conception of stars is that they will be willing to do it for money. But this has not been the case with John Abraham. The sources report that the actor was offered a ransom money of 6crore for performing at a high profile wedding and this was to be held at Dubai and Delhi. But the actor politely refused the offer and he mentioned that due to personal reasons he wont be doing it. Sources mention that

" The academic background from which the actor comes in makes him live a life under his own principles. Those near to him is quite aware of this and he seldom breaks any of his rules and not performing on birthdays and parties is one such rule"

When asked whether this was the arrogance as an actor, the sources did mention:

"This is certainly not the arrogance of the actor which makes him make such a statement instead, it is with much humility that the actor refuses to perform. He believes in his work and believes in working on-screen and likes to maintain the exclusive nature of being actor"

When John was contacted about this issue, he mentioned:

"Ever since the start of my career I have been receiving these offers and I have been refusing them from the start. The only change I find in these offers is that the money rate has increased each year"

"It has been my principle from the start of my career that I dont perform in marriages, birthday parties, and similar and I also do not attend Award functions. This has been my personal restrictions and I do have great respect for others who does this. I also make it a point not to endorse any smoking or alcohol products, there is lot of dont's that I have!"

John remembers that once he was contacted by a person to attend a birthday party, he requested them to pay the money for charity and he will be happy to meet them for which the organizers disagreed. John said "People want to spend lavishly on these events as it has become a status symbol for them to organize the parties in such manner. Although I agree that everyone does have the choice of spending money and what they spend on"

"I have been told by people not near and dear to me that I should accept the offer, but I will rather not, as an actor there should be some exclusivity to you and I love to maintain it"

When asked about the 6 crore loss he did in business, the actor said " As I mentioned there had been offers from the start and money just goes up each year, people may call me stupid for not accepting it but unfortunately that's the way I am"

John for you!!
