Microsoft Xbox One Sells 1 Million Units In 24 Hours Of Launch!

24 hours and 1 million units sold out! Microsoft Corp sold over 1 million of its new Xbox One game consoles within 24 hours of their hitting store shelves on Friday, on par with Sony Corp's PlayStation 4 despite launching in far more countries.

The new console, which launched in 13 countries, set a record for first-day Xbox sales and is currently sold out at most retailers, Microsoft said in a statement.

Sony said it sold 1 million PS4 units in 24 hours after launching last Friday in just the United States and Canada. The PS4 expands to other regions, including Europe, Australia and South America, from November 29. It then hits Japan in February.

Microsoft is already aiming to beat Sony on its ground and is building up a much higher configuration console, ofcourse costlier than Sony to beat the gamers into the new platform. Microsoft not only stops there, but also plans to include a broader consumer base of TV fans and music lovers with its interactive entertainment features and media apps.

"We are working hard to create more Xbox One consoles," said Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of marketing and strategy at Xbox.

Robert W. Baird & Co analyst Colin Sebastian has said he expects shipments of 2.5 million to 3 million units for both the Xbox One and PS4 in the fourth quarter.

Both the PS4, priced at $399 in the United States, and the Xbox One, with a price tag of $499, offer improved graphics for realistic effects, processors that allow faster game play and a slew of exclusive video games.

Sony Xperia Z Ultra Video Review

Sony Xperia Z Ultra Review

"Wait, that's a phone?"

That is one of the many bewildered questions we've received from passersby, friends, family, and everyone else since we received Sony's latest ... device last week. And that's the very question that has unintentionally answered another we've been trying to answer for going on three years now. At what point is a smartphone no longer a phone but a miniature tablet?

Smartphones have been continually growing for the last three years, from a common 3.5-inch display to 6-inches and beyond. The race has transferred from who can cram more pixels in a panel and who can fix the largest camera sensor to the back of a phone to who can burst the seams of the average pant pocket.
After Samsung's Galaxy Note was a mild success, it was somewhat clear that "big" was in. And since, every smartphone iteration has grown in size. Five-inches, which used to be considered nonsensical, is quite average these days. And phones like the Galaxy Mega 6.3 leave us scratching our heads, feeling we may need to bring back the quite tasteful fanny pack, just to comfortably carry our phone with us.

And just when you think your 6.3-inch phone isn't big enough, an unlikely hero, Sony, steps out from the shadows to unveil something bigger, better, and, of course, slimmer than ever before. The Xperia Z Ultra.

We've spent eight days with the Xperia Z Ultra, putting it through the paces. Have we finally met our match? Is 6.4-inches simply too large to be considered and carried as a smartphone? Watch our view review to find out!

It also has 1/2.3-type Exmor RS for mobile CMOS image sensor which is a high sensitivity sensor capturing details and crisp images, even in low-light conditions.

Some software features of the camera are:

• Social live which will let users broadcast recording live from Xperia Z1 to Facebook.
• Info-eye which will give users information on landmarks or items which are captured by them using the smartphone.

• Timeshift burst ensures that the Xperia Z1 takes 61 images in 2 seconds. Users can then scroll around and choose the best image.

Xperia Z1 will launch globally from September 2013 and will come in black, white and purple colours. Sony also showed off new smart lens called QX100 and RX100 which can be strapped onto the Xperia Z1 and other Xperia phones via a lens module. The Dirty Picture premiere stalled

The Dirty Picture was all set to entertain the viewers on television. The movie was scheduled to telecast first time on television at 12pm and 8pm on Sony Entertainment Channel on Sunday.

A city lawyer had filed a petition seeking to impose a ban on its telecast on the ground that there were obscene shots in the film.

The originally ‘A’ rated film went through 56 cuts to get a UA certificate, in order to be screened on television. A source said that, The channel decided not to play the film after receiving complaints from viewers about the late night timing of the screening.

However, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) says that a UA certified film can be shown only after 11 pm. CBFC had advised that the film should be shown late at night when most parents are available to suitably guide their children.

But the channel disappointed the viewers with the message, ‘For unavoidable reasons we regret to inform the dirty picture will not be telecast today. Any inconvenience caused is deeply regretted.’

Prior to this the High Court had cleared the Vidya Balan starrer film 'The Dirty Picture' on Saturday after 56 cuts, 36 of which were cut by the film producer himself and 22 others as suggested by the Board.

Tusshar ‏Kapoor tweeted, "Really unfortunate that after all the necessary cuts and a valid UA certificate. The Dirty Picture could not be telecast today on sony tv!In light of recent events that exposed the dark side of Bollywood, The Dirty Picture was well timed as it depicts a similar harsh reality!Sad that inspite of being acclaimed for it's entertaining realism & having won 3 National Awards the regulatory forces have stalled the show (sic)."

Tanuj Garg CEO of Motion Pictures tweeted,"Sorry to everyone who's been messaging and calling this morning. Been on the phone continuously. It's unfortunate that even after ...a valid censor cert being in place, the telecast was held! The cuts made to TDP were done in a manner that would not offend the larger populace but completely retain the film's creative integrity!Despite the cuts and a CC, forces in Delhi decided to hold the telecast! The Dirty Picture trending. That's the point abt its popularity. The most discussed& celebrated National Award-winner is nt allowed 2telecast (sic)."

Karan Johar tweeted, "A national award winning film cannot have a national telecast??? this is not an irony but plain and simple hypocrisy!!!!"

Dirty Picture to be aired on TV after 56 cuts

After having cut as many as 56 scenes from the popular movie 'The Dirty Picture', Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court on Friday decided against staying the telecast of 'The Dirty Picture' on Sunday.

Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court bench here has allowed a private TV channel (Sony Entertainment) and others to go ahead with the scheduled telecast of Vidya Balan starrer Hindi film 'The Dirty Picture' on Sunday.

The channel was responding to notices issued by the HC on a petition filed by a Nagpur resident, Pravin Dahat. The petitioner had knocked the judiciary's doors contending that 'The Dirty Picture' promos were full of obscene scenes, double meaning and vulgar dialogues, and the movie had received an 'Adult' certificate.  Therefore, it was not suitable for viewing with family, especially children. He termed its screening as breach of Cable TV Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995 and Cable TV Network Rules, 1994.

Counsels for petitioner M Anil Kumar and Nirbhay Chawhan pointed out that the movie, as its name suggests, was indeed a "dirty picture" not suitable for home viewing due to its explicit scenes and vulgar dialogues. They added that even the songs were having double meaning with wild gestures and sounds of moaning.

The channel and Balaji Telefilms lawyer Sunil Manohar told the court during the hearing today that 56 adult scenes were cut from the film for the telecast, which now will be shown as ‘UA certified’. The total length of the film after cuts now is 136.54 minutes.

However Sony Entertainment channel has assured the Bombay High Court that the broadcast of the Dirty Picture on will be with UA certificate and without 56 “adult” scenes.
