Gold all the way. The trend of golden color continues over to the smartphone industry as well. The latest iphone and Samsung Galaxy sales show up that the golden color is regarded more sacredly among smartphone enthusiasts across India.

The latest story broke out when the golden version of iphone was sold 10000 to 15000 rupees more than the regular iphone 5S. Again, combined with the diwali opening, the sales was all time high for the golden color.

Both iphone and Samsung galaxy did make the best of the golden avtars during the diwali sales where people were ready to give full money in advance - almost 75000 was reported to be spent over 200 pieces in Delhi alone which shows the impact of this premium color.

The Samsung Galaxy had stepped one more ahead when it introduced the costliest smartphone in India and the company claims that it has already sold beyond expectations.

Among chocolates, Nestle's Alpino and Ferrero Rocher have sizzled retail shelves during the festive season gifting, both drawing the consumer's eye with their gilded packaging.

"Gold has huge appeal amongst Indian consumers since it's a fantastic premium stand-out colour," says Samsung India country head (mobile and digital imaging) Vineet Taneja. "This also means the product needs to be niche or super-premium," he says.

So what is your take on this golden revolution!

A 2500 Tonnes Gold Treasure In Unnao ; ASI Starts Excavation To Verify Claim By Saint

The nation is eagerly looking at Unnao, 150kms from Lucknow where a saint has predicted a depository of 2500 tonnes of Gold under the fort. With this prediction in light, the Archeological Survey Of India has started the excavation works to verify the claims.

The saint, Shobhan Sarkar, who reportedly had the divine vision or dream about 1,000 tonnes of gold being buried under the Daudiyakheda fort, has sparked off more sensation with the prediction of an even bigger gold deposit at another fort. In his letter to the district magistrate (DM) of Fatehpur, Sarkar has said that about 2,500 tonnes of gold was buried under a dilapidated 500-year-old fort in Adampur village of that district.

As of the latest news, there has been no surprises for the excavation team, but the administration has requested to continue for few more days to find if this is true.

This is just not a mock as the Saint and his disciples have deposited a sum of Rs. 10 Lakhs to the government and has already agreed to be forfeited from the sum and also legal actions incase this claim is found as false.

He has also written to the Kanpur DM to get a survey done for treasure in the Chaubeypur and Parade Ground areas of Kanpur. The saint, known to have divine powers, has also sent the related information to the Reserve Bank of India.

“We are only doing our duty towards this country. We are not obliging anyone,” Swami OmJi Maharaj, one of the saint’s oldest disciples, told mediapersons. He asked curious journalists not to be in a hurry.

“You just wait and see, each and every word of his (Shobhan Sarkar’s) predictions will come true. He communicates with divine powers,” he asserted.

A 12 member team is at the site headed by Deputy director SP Mishra after a long havan and pooja by saints. About 20 labourers are engaged in the digging in a 30 square feet area marked by the ASI. The fort is heavily barricaded and guarded by a heavy deployment of police and PAC men. No one is being allowed near the excavation site.

Samsung Galaxy S4 Launches Gold Edition!

Samsung fans were bit low when they did find that the Apple 5S gold version was hitting the market like anything. Few days ago we had reported that the sales of Apple IPhone 5S gold is hitting records, the reports mentioned that the phone did not even last hours as soon as the stock arrived. We had also see an $10k sale for the phone at ebay.

To cope up with the competition and to fulfill the fan fantasies, Samsung has now launched the gold edition for its latest best seller, Samsung Galaxy S4, the announcement came through a twitter feed by samsung arabia.

The Indian market will still have to wait as Samsung has announced its mobile plans only for Gulf Countries initially. But countries in West Asia who have a soft spot for gold, like India, will also be in consideration by the Mobile giant.

As the picture of Samsung says, it does look elegant and we will have to watch out for how the market responds to the latest addition to the smartphone race.

Although we feel that the race has now shifted to looks rather than technology - Apple who is still selling good despite its shortcomings to android technology. What its lacking in innovation, iphone seems to be gaining in minor gimmicks and beautiful presentation.

Gold Prices Tumble As Rupee Makes A Comeback

NEW DELHI: Gold prices suffered the steepest fall in a week on Thursday falling by Rs 1,250 to Rs 30,950 per ten grams here on heavy sell-off by stockists as equity markets and rupee recovered after RBI's fresh measures.

Silver also plunged by Rs 1,800 to Rs 53,700 per kg on poor offtake by industrial units and weakening trend in overseas markets.

Traders said the precious metals fell sharply following fast recovery in rupee against the dollar after the new RBI chief announced measures to boost economic growth.

The rupee was trading higher by 84 paise at Rs 66.24 per dollar, while stock markets were up by over 2 per cent, denting the appeal of gold considered as safe haven for investors during economic turbulences.

New RBI governor Raghuram Rajan came out with a slew of measures to rescue the battered financial markets to boosting growth.

Traders said a weakening trend in overseas markets on expectations for reduced stimulus in the US and limited military strikes against Syria, further influenced sentiment.

Gold in Singapore, which normally sets price trend on the domestic front, fell 0.7 per cent to 1,381.35 dollar an ounce and silver by 0.9 per cent to 23.27 an ounce.

On the domestic front, gold of 99.9 and 99.5 per cent purity suffered Rs 1250 loss each to quote at Rs 30,950 and Rs 30,750 per ten grams respectively. It had gained Rs 1,100 in last two sessions.

Sovereign declined by Rs 200 to Rs 25,100 per piece of eight gram.

Silver ready dropped by Rs 1,800 to Rs 53,700 per kg and weekly-based delivery by Rs 2400 to Rs 54,600 per kg.

Silver coins also fell by Rs 1,000 to Rs 88,000 for buying and Rs 89,000 for selling of 100 pieces.

Market: Investment in gold won't be a good idea!

Till date, gold has been regarded as a safe bet for most investors, although it does see fluctuations in market, there has been rare incidents where the gold has gone down the buying price of any investors. But the finance minister says that the scenario is going to change soon as the government has no plans of increasing the import duty on gold!

Mr. Chidambaram was talking to Economic Times when he assured that the INR will find its way back to a safer position than what it is now.
According to Chidambaram it is wrong to say that gold is the 'safest investment' option. "It is wrong to say that there aren't other attractive investment instruments," he said. "People who are financially well informed should put their investments in other financial instruments," he added.

"I once again appeal to everyone to resist the temptation to buy gold. This will show positive impact on every aspect of Indian Economy," Chidambaram said.

Chidambaram went on to say that people will invest only when they get a good price on their investments. "People think that they are buying gold in rupees. Actually they are buying gold in dollars," he said. "If for one year there are no gold imports, it will change the current account deficit story of the country" he added.

Seeking to reassure that the panic over rupee's depreciation is unwarranted, Chidambaram said, "Steps have been taken to cure the currency's fall."

"There is concern about the rupee. What is happening in India is not unusual for countries with large current account deficit." According to Chidambaram, the rupee has been 'remarkably stable' over the last ten months.

Reiterating that there is 'no need to panic', Chidambaram said, "Rupee will find its level, we are concerned about the volatility. It is quite possible that rupee will regain losses."

In an attempt to woo investors to invest in the Indian markets and economy, Chidambaram said, "A number of measures have to be taken to revise growth in economy, fiscal consolidation tops list, followed by moderating inflation."

Stating that reviving investments is top priority, Chidambaram said, "After about 9 months we have acknowledgment that steps that we have taken have delivered results." "Reviving investor sentiment will yield results; the world continues to repose faith in India," he added.

While acknowledging that steps taken by the government have had the desired effect, Chidambaram said that the investment climate can benefit from more reforms. Reviving economy, rejuvenating investment sentiment might be slow, but we do not take our eyes off the ball, Chidambaram sought to assure.

"It is not an ODI match, a wicket or a six is expected in every ball in an ODI, economic reforms don't work that way," he said on a lighter note. "We have to take long term view of what is happening in India; results have been achieved; looking forward to more reforms," Chidambaram said. Chidambaram went on to highlight measures that the government will take in order to boost economic growth and contain fiscal and current account deficit. "These will include gas pricing, FDI limits, steps to be taken by SEBI based on Chandrashekhar Committee report, and skill development," he said.

So it is always a soothing sign for an average investor but many will be sad that the Gold prices will be seeing no great deflections through the coming days. Will this be a good news? It will only be decided by the coming times, at the moment, with the markets showing drastic changes, we are sure that Gold is still the safe bet!
