Prithvi - II Surface To Surface Nuclear Missile Tested Successfully.

India successfully tests their surface to survace Prithvi-II missile at Odisha bay. The indigenously developed nuclear-capable Prithvi-II missile with a strike range of 350 km from a test range at Chandipur in Odisha as part of a user trial by defence forces.

The surface-to-surface missile was test-fired at around 10:05 a.m. from a mobile launcher in salvo mode from launch complex-3 of the Integrated Test Range, about 15 km from Balasore, defence sources said.

Describing the launch of the sophisticated missile as a complete success, ITR Director M.V.K.V. Prasad said all the mission parameters were met during the trial.

“The missile was randomly chosen from the production stock and the launch activities were carried out by the specially formed Strategic Force Command (SFC) and monitored by scientists of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) as part of training exercise,” the sources said.

“The missile trajectory was tracked by DRDO radars, electro-optical tracking systems and telemetry stations located along the coast of Odisha,” they said.

“The downrange teams onboard a ship deployed near the designated impact point in Bay of Bengal monitored the terminal events and splashdown,” they said.

Developed by DRDO under the prestigiuos IGMDP (Integrated Guided Missile Development Program) the first version of Prithvi was inducted into India's Strategic Forces Command in 2003.

“The launch was part of a regular training exercise of SFC and was monitored by DRDO scientists,” he said.

Such training launches clearly indicate India’s operational readiness to meet any eventuality and also establishes the reliability of this deterrent component of India’s strategic arsenal, the official said.

Prithvi is capable of carrying 500 kg to 1,000 kg of warheads and is thrusted by liquid propulsion twin engines. It uses advanced inertial guidance system with manoeuvring trajectory.

The last user trial of Prithvi-II missile was successfully carried out from the same base on October 7.

Technology : Iphone and Samsung Phone's to be tested for Anti Theft features

Apple and Samsung's latest smartphones will face the scrutiny of state and federal prosecutors in San Francisco on Thursday, who plan to test the latest in antitheft security.

San Francisco District Attorney George Gascón and New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman are testing the latest security features of Apple's iPhone 5 and Samsung's Galaxy S4 to see whether they can stop thieves who have made off with said devices. In the iPhone 5's case, the group will have security experts attempting to thwart Apple's activation lock feature, which requires users to have a specific Apple ID username and password to use the device. For the Galaxy S4, experts are evaluating Lojack for Android, a $29.99 per year application that can remotely lock the phone and delete personal data.

"While we are appreciative of the efforts made by Apple and Samsung to improve security of the devices they sell, we are not going to take them at their word," Schneiderman and Gascón said in a joint statement. "Today we will assess the solutions they are proposing and see if they stand up to the tactics commonly employed by thieves."

To do so, Gascón and Schneiderman say the group will bring in experts from the Northern California Regional Intelligence Center to try to bypass the measures, and gain access to the devices as if they were someone who had stolen the phone.

An Apple spokeswoman reiterated a statement the company made in June, saying it has "led the industry in helping customers protect their lost or stolen devices," since 2009.

"With Activation Lock, Find My iPhone gives customers even more control over their devices and serves as a theft deterrent by requiring an Apple ID and password to turn off Find My iPhone, erase data or re-activate a device," ...
