No Intentions Of Making Govt., We are Runner-ups - AAP

Aam Admi party clarifies their stance as the election has resulted in no single party getting the magical number 36 to rule the government. AAP in their first outing surprised the congress by grabbing 28 seats and this is marked as a major victory.

There were rumors that AAP will be forming the government supported by BJP, but it seems that Yogendra Yadav, the leader of AAP has no intentions to join in hands there. "I find it unique that the party in first position is asking party in second position to form the government", he said, in response to reports that the BJP had said that it was willing to sit in the opposition, in Delhi.

"If the Lt Governor asks us then we will tell him we have only 28 MLAs and that does not add up to 36. AAP has not got the vote to form the next government, and it would be unfair to do so", he added.

The idea was also conveyed out by Arvind Kejriwal who said that the outing was good for AAP and they wished they had the majority and could form a government. "I completely agree that if we had a majority it would have been different, but Rome wasn't built in a day", he said. "Now let's see what they do. I would encourage BJP and Congress to join hands as their ideology is the same", he said.

So although the elections has been a clear statement it still puts Delhi back on square zero. The nation is eagerly watching what moves does the leading national parties, BJP and Congress make to work this out.

Hindutva Is Not The Agenda, Its Development For All That Is Planned : Modi

Hardcore governance, and not Hindutva or shades of it, would figure in the BJP’s main battle theme for the Delhi elections as well as the 2014 polls, BJP prime minister candidate Narendra Modi indicated on Sunday.

At his first rally in Delhi since becoming the party’s face for the elections, Modi gave out the slogan, ‘Nation First, India First’ in response to the demand to declare the BJP’s plank. He also announced that the BJP’s new slogan would be “saab ke saath and saab ke vikas” (With all, and for everyone’s development.)

Hindustan Times had reported on September 15, two days after he was named PM candidate, that Modi slogan will be "”India First” -- for shaping the new governmental policies in key sectors.

Modi’s emphasis on Sunday was also that “there is only one religion for the government -- Nation First and India First. There is only one philosophy for the government -- Nation First and India First. There is only one holy book, the Constitution of India. Nothing else matters or will matter. There is only one credo -- care of every one of 125 crore Indians.”

Modi’s heavy development dose comes in the backdrop of hitherto-not disclaimed reports from Ahmedabad that the Gujarat chief minister has conveyed to some Muslim leaders that issues like Ram temple were not his party’s main plank and they should have no misgivings about any discrimination under future BJP dispensation.
Modi on Sunday spoke about what should be the development goal when India enters the 75th year of its existence as a nation in 2022. Saying that in the next nine years, the government must have a vision that guarantees every person a decent life free of worries about food, shelter or work, Modi talked of the “Great Indian Dream”, urging every village and town to aspire for a better life. He vowed that neither the BJP nor he would break that dream.

The thrust of Modi’s rally address was that “if you deliver good governance, there will be growth; if you deliver good governance, there will be economic opportunities, development and everything else.”

BJP Opposes President From Signing The Non Constitutional Ordinance

New Delhi: An ordinance hurriedly approved by the cabinet on Tuesday, to protect convicted MPs and MLAs from disqualification, has sparked off another political confrontation between the government and the opposition.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has asked President Pranab Mukherjee not to sign the ordinance, which skirts around a Supreme Court order that had said lawmakers will stand disqualified immediately after conviction.

"The President is not obliged to sign an ordinance that is unconstitutional. We oppose this ordinance," tweeted BJP's Sushma Swaraj, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

In response, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Manish Tewari tweeted this morning that the BJP leader's advice was "amusing, surprising."

"The Constitutionality or otherwise of legal enactments are tested in Constitutional courts and not in the BJP's moat. Unsolicited advice is neither appreciated nor taken seriously," Mr Tewari said cuttingly.

The ordinance, which allows convicted MPs and MLAs to stay on, but without voting rights or salary, comes just ahead of a possible verdict by a Jharkhand court on the multi-crore fodder scam allegedly involving Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Yadav, a loyal ally of the minority Manmohan Singh government.

If convicted, Mr Yadav faces disqualification from the Lok Sabha under the Supreme Court order of July, which said lawmakers could not stay on even if they appealed to a higher court against their conviction.

The ordinance is also likely to benefit Congress MP Rashid Masood, who was convicted last week in a corruption case. The CBI court will announce quantum of punishment next month and even if he is handed a jail term of more than two years, he will now not face immediate disqualification from the Rajya Sabha.

Law Minister Kapil Sibal has however clarified to NDTV that under the ordinance, protection from disqualification will apply only when the convicted MP or MLA has appealed in a higher court and the higher court has stayed the lower court's conviction.

The ordinance also does not interfere with the Supreme Court ruling that the convicted legislator cannot contest elections unless permitted by a higher court.

Naming Modi As PM Candidate A Disaster, will Destroy Party's Prospects - Advani

LK Advani has reportedly told BJP president Rajnath Singh that fronting Narendra Modi as the party's candidate for prime minister will be a "disaster" and will "destroy the party's prospects" in the general elections next year.

Sources said he also told the BJP chief that if a parliamentary party board meeting is called to make the Modi-for-PM announcement, he will attend it and oppose the move, forcing Mr Singh to now consider bypassing the panel of the BJP's top 12 leaders and make the announcement any way.

Several attempts have been made by senior leaders to convince Mr Advani. Rajnath Singh drove over to Mr Advani's residence yesterday, but, sources said, he was warned by the 85-year-old leader during a half-hour chat that officially naming Mr Modi to lead the party would ensure that the BJP is "wrecked by a third defeat."

Nitin Gadkari flew back to Nagpur after meeting Mr Advani to inform the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh or RSS that the BJP veteran is refusing to budge from his anti-Modi position, one that is shared by other key party leaders like Sushma Swaraj and Murli Manohar Joshi.

Mr Singh is expected to meet Ms Swaraj on the matter today.

The RSS has told Rajnath Singh that there can be no more delay in making the Modi announcement and that he must figure out how to do it. Mr Singh has the option of talking individually to senior party leaders and naming Modi based on a majority decision. He can also request the RSS, which is the BJP's ideological mentor, for more time to build consensus around Mr Modi's candidacy to avoid a showdown at a parliamentary party board meet.

But the RSS wants Mr Modi's name announced before September 19, when an auspicious period on the Hindu calendar ends. Supporters of the Gujarat Chief Minister are pushing for an announcement before September 17, Mr Modi's 63rd birthday.

The anti-Modi coterie argues that a Modi announcement should be delayed till at least after the Assembly elections in five states in November. They are said to be gambling on Mr Modi's internal rival Shivraj Singh Chouhan posting a big third straight win in Madhya Pradesh in those elections to challenge the Gujarat Chief Minister's reputation of being the party's best match-winner.

Just Followed Modi's and Shah's Orders - DIG Vanzara

AHMEDABAD: Jailed DIG DG Vanzara, the man who allegedly carried out successive fake encounters in post-Godhra Gujarat, resigned from the Indian Police Service on Tuesday, accusing the Modi government of betraying its loyal officers "to save its own skin from the CBI" as well as to "gain political benefits".

Vanzara's explosive 10-page resignation letter describes the jailed officers as those who carried out the "proactive policy of zero tolerance for terrorism" which was adopted "at the highest level of its (Gujarat's) hierarchy".

He targets Gujarat's former junior home minister Amit Shah for "betrayal and treachery", but also warns CM Narendra Modi that since the loyal officers were not protected, there was no "one-sided obligation" on Vanzara's part to protect the "traitors sitting in the government".

Vanzara clearly indicates that what he did to counter the jihadi menace was done with the explicit sanction and encouragement of the Gujarat government. In fact, he says the trumpeted success of the "Gujarat model of development" was possible only because of the "sacrifices made by me and my officers in thwarting the onslaught of initial disorder in the state".

He said the CBI would "have to arrest the policy formulators also as we, being field officers, have simply implemented the conscious policy of this government which was inspiring, guiding and monitoring our actions from very close quarters. By this reasoning, I am of the firm opinion that the place of this government, instead of being in Gandhinagar, should either be in Taloja Central Prison at Navi Mumbai or Sabarmati Central Prison at Ahmedabad".

Painting Amit Shah as the main villain, Vanzara wrote that he once adored Modi like a "god", but the CM failed "to rise to the occasion under the evil influence of Amit Shah who usurped his eyes and ears and has been successfully misguiding him".

He says: "I would like to state in the most unambiguous words that this government, thorough the dirty tactics of Amitbhai Shah, is unfortunately managing only for its own self so as to swim and continue to prosper in all directions, while ditching the police officers so as to sink and allow them to die unnatural death by drowning. By adopting such a suicidal path, this government, I am sure, is doing nothing else but is hastening and facilitating its own death by drowning."

He adds: "Apprehending the arrest of political leaders of Gujarat by CBI, all efforts, legal and political, were made by this government to ensure that none of us was released on bail so as to prevent the investigation going from the hands of Gujarat CID to Union CBI. The most heartless and shameful act of betrayal on the part of this government was that when Dinesh M N, and Narendra Amin got released by their own individual efforts, it got their bails cancelled at the earliest opportunity and pushed them back behind the bars of Sabarmati jail."

He goes on to say, "But for the legal and political intrigues, machinations and maneuverings of Amitbhai Shah, the trial of Shohrabuddin encounter case, followed by that of Tulsiram encounter case, would not have gone out of the state of Gujarat." Vanzara further added that "the crux of whole matter is that it was just to facilitate his trivial personal interest of fighting assembly election of 2012 that Shri Amitbhai Shah got the trial transferred and betrayed our trust."

In what seems a warning to Modi, Vanzara says, "As the government has miserably failed in protecting its encounter police, there remains no one-sided obligation on part of me to protect the traitors sitting in this government who almost have pushed patriotic and nationalist police officers into the jaws of death."

Asking Modi not to dump his officers in the quest for power in Delhi, Vanzara says the chief minister "has very rightly been talking of repaying his debt which he owes to Mother India... But, it would not be out of context to remind him that he, in the hurry of marching towards Delhi, may kindly not forget to repay the debt which he owes to jailed police officers who endowed him with the halo of Brave Chief Minister among the galaxy of other Chief Ministers who do not bear the same adjective before their names. This, as per my humble opinion, is also a part of the repayment of debt to Mother India."

PM's Office Rejects 8PM Closing For Petrol Pumps, BJP unleashes

New Delhi: The Prime Minister's Office, sources say, has firmly rejected a suggestion to close petrol pumps at 8 pm, a proposal that was under consideration according to Oil Minister Veerappa Moily.

On Sunday, he had said an 8 pm curfew was among an omnibus of austerity measures that was being studied. After scathing criticism from the opposition,

and a lack of support within the government, Mr Moily today the proposal was not the government's idea, but was offered "by the public and others."

"If the opposition has any brilliant ideas, let them share them," he charged, in response to the BJP's derision.

The Prime Minister has asked Mr Moily to cut down the spend on oil imports by 25 billion dollars or Rs. 1,65, 000 crore. The minister said that a six-week austerity drive, of which the constituents are being finalized, will debut on September 16.

The plan aims at cutting the demand for fuel by 3 per cent at a time when global crude oil prices are surging and the rupee is mining record lows; it has fallen 20% since May
Mr Moily has pointed out in a letter to the PM that unless corrective steps are taken, the government will face losses of Rs. 1.8 lakh crore on subsidized fuel.

Every time, the value of rupee to a dollar falls by a rupee, the import bill goes up by 7, 900 crore. For every litre of diesel that's sold, oil companies take a hit of Rs. 10.

For kerosene, they lose a whopping Rs. 33 per litre.

Mr Moily has also written to the Prime Minister suggesting that India could save $8.5 billion if its increases oil imports from Iran, which is able to accept payment in rupees. The US and the European Union have imposed sanctions on Iran over its nuclear programme, which has reduced its oil exports significantly.

Kishtwar Communal Riots Rocks The Parliament : National News

NEW DELHI: Jammu & Kashmir government's handing of the communal clashes in Kishtwar rocked Parliament on Monday, a day after the state government stopped BJP leader Arun Jaitley from proceeding to the town, even as the minister of state for home Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo tendered his resignation to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.

While BJP said the state was returning to a 1990-like situation, when Kashmiri Hindus had to flee their homeland in the wake of terrorism, Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram defended Jaitley's detention at Jammu airport, arguing that the situation was not right for the leader of opposition in the Rajya Sabha to visit the area. Abdullah's Jammu & Kashmir National Conference party is a member of the Congressled coalition at the Centre.

"Only once the situation gets normal will leaders be allowed to visit the area," Chidambaram told the House after a heated debate on the issue. Jaitley, however, said earlier that his detention was an issue of secondary importance.

"J&K is not the personal property of one family. They don't have the right to bar anyone from the state and indefinitely at that. What if the BJP-led states imposed Section 144 and stopped all AICC members from entering them? What is this, a banana republic?" Chidambaram said: "Section 144 is status neutral , gender and caste neutral; the decision lies with the district administration."

BSP chief Mayawati, whose party lends outside support to UPA, said the state government had failed in handling the violence in Kishtwar and demanded that if there was no proper probe the state government should be dismissed. The resignation of Kichloo, who represents Kishtwar in the state assembly, came ahead of an all-party meeting in Jammu and a formal announcement that a judicial commission would also look into the riot

News : LoC Attack, BJP Asks Antony To Apologize

NEW DELHI: Opposition BJP and UPA's outside supporter SP on Wednesday stalled Parliament over contradictory statements by defence minister A K Antony and Army over the killing of Indian soldiers on the Line of Control.

NEW DELHI: Opposition BJP and UPA's outside supporter SP on Wednesday stalled Parliament over contradictory statements by defence minister A K Antony and Army over the killing of Indian soldiers on the Line of Control.

BJP demanded that Antony should apologise for "toeing the Pakistani line" when he stated that the 5 Indian soldiers were killed by 20 heavily armed terrorists and persons in Pakistani army uniform, while an Indian Army statement said the terrorist were assisted by Pakistan Army.

As the Lok Sabha met for the day, leader of the opposition Sushma Swaraj slammed Antony for giving Pakistan army a "clean chit" in the attack.

She said while an earlier statement by the Army and the defence ministry blamed terrorists and Pakistan army regulars for the attack, Antony said those involved in the incident were terrorists and people wearing Pakistan Army uniforms.

"The defence minister should apologise to the country," Swaraj said amid din over Telangana and law and order situation in West Bengal.

As Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was present in the House, Swaraj demanded a statement from him on the issue stating categorically that Pakistan army was involved in the attack on the Indian post in Poonch sector in Jammu and Kashmir.

In Rajya Sabha, members were on their feet the moment Chairman Hamid Ansari called the House to order.

M Venkaiah Naidu (BJP) said he has given a notice for suspension of Question Hour to raise the issue...

News : SP leader brags he got IAS officer suspended in 41 minutes!

LUCKNOW: A video purportedly showing a senior Samajwadi Party (SP) leader claiming he got IAS officer Durga Shakti Nagpal suspended in "just 41 minutes" has put the Uttar Pradesh government in a tight spot.

The video comes after Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav firmed up his stance in the matter of the official's suspension, and said there was no question of revoking the order served to the officer.

The video shows Narendra Bhati, agro chairman who enjoys minister status in the state, telling supporters in the Greater Noida region that he rang up chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav at around 10.30am and by 11.11am suspension orders were served to Nagpal.

This showed the "power of democracy", said the leader, who is also the SP candidate from Noida for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Bhati has been in the eye of a storm ever since Nagpal was suspended last week, as it is alleged that he was behind serving her the orders, under pressure from the sand mining mafia against whom she had earlier clamped down.

BJP legislator from Noida Mahesh Sharma has also alleged that Bhati was hand-in-glove with the mining mafia and has asked for a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation into his alleged links with the mining mafia.

As soon as the video surfaced, opposition parties pounced on the UP government.

The BJP state spokesman Vijay Bahadur Pathak told IANS that the "blatant lies of the chief minister had been exposed"

"Till yesterday, the chief minister was saying that the suspension of the lady IAS officer was an administrative decision. Now it is clear that it was a brazen act of political vendetta against an upright official" Pathak said.....

News : US Visa : No policy change for Modi

The US has said that if Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi applies for a visa, his application will be considered in accordance with the American immigration law and policy. "If (the Gujarat) chief minister Modi applies for a visa, his application will be considered to determine whether he qualifies for a visa, in accordance with US immigration law and policy," state department spokesperson Jen Psaki, told reporters at her daily news conference.

"Our policy on this has not changed," Psaki said when asked about the Modi's US visa application.

"I think I just said we will consider his application if he applies, and I'm not going to get ahead of where we are at this time," she reiterated, when asked for the second time during the news conference.

"But as you know, we don't talk about the specifics of that process or individual cases, but he would, of course, be considered if he were to apply," Psaki said.

The state department's remarks came as the visiting BJP president Rajnath Singh was winding up his three-day hectic visit to Washington, during which he met a host of US lawmakers, think tanks and academicians...

Politics: BJP keen to let Narendra Modi Fly to US

The BJP wants the US administration to lift its travel ban on Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing a press conference here, party president Rajnath Singh said he would take up the issue with US lawmakers in Washington. “I will appeal to the US government to clear the US visa to the Gujarat CM,” he said.

The US government had taken a decision not to give visa to Modi in the wake of the post-Godhra riots of 2002 in Gujarat and serious violation of human rights.

The party had always maintained that Modi was not clamouring for a US visa but criticised the administration on its stand saying he was a democratically elected popular leader of the state.

Modi, who has been nominated as the chairman of BJP election campaign committee, has taken to addressing audiences in the US through video-conferencing.

Singh, who is on a five-day trip to New York and Washington to meet the Indian diaspora, ruled himself out of the prime ministerial race...

Politics: An Alliance break between JDU and BJP?

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Janata Dal United (JDU) is expected to part ways with the Bharatiya Janata Party or BJP and end the 18-year alliance this weekend, sources have told NDTV. A final decision on snapping ties could be taken at a JDU meeting in Patna on Saturday.

BJP President Rajnath Singh is scheduled to arrive in the state capital on June 23. Sources say all that's left between the two sides is the handling of exit formalities.

Ahead of Mr Singh's arrival, the BJP in Bihar held an emergency meeting last evening to discuss its strategy for the break-up and after. The BJP reportedly wants Mr Kumar to resign as Chief Minister first and then meet the Governor to stake claim to form the government again.

Yesterday, senior BJP leaders Rajnath Singh and LK Advani phoned Mr Kumar; but sources say he did not reassure them that he will rethink his decision to end the alliance.

Making it clear that he's ready to move on, Mr Kumar in fact confirmed to reporters yesterday that he is in talks with two other regional powerhouses - West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik - about attempts to assemble a "federal" or Third Front to take on the coalitions led by the BJP and the Congress in the national election.

Nitish Kumar and his party are unhappy with Narendra Modi's elevation as chairman of the BJP's campaign committee. They allege that Mr Modi didn't do enough to protect the hundreds of Muslims who were killed in the riots that ravaged Gujarat in 2002.

Our Analysis
The case should be too difficult and we expect more changes from BJP to counter this move from JDU, with JDU out, there is always a tough chance for BJP to gain back power and that is not a situation which they want to be in after the 10 year long UPA rule.
Although JDU seems to be pretty strong on their decision to avoid Narendra Modi out of the PM equation, we really are not sure if it is out of emotion or there are any other political actions in mind. CPI(M) has already ruled out the possibility of a third front, but since this is the start of the game we will better wait n watch!

Politics: Why BJP still wants to hold with Advani

After the much of debate, the senior leader to BJP, L. K. Advani was forced to cancel his resignation. The whole of nation was talking about the differences between Mr. Advani and Narendra Modi. But these differences are now referred to as internal and the BJP doesn't want their senior leader out.

On the backside of this note, there has been another opinion posted in by OneIndia (http://news.oneindia.com) opening up another perspective on this issue
Advani, who recently withdrew his resignation from all posts of BJP, was given the responsibility to break the ice between Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and other BJP leaders. According to sources, Kumar and his party JD(U) may break its 17-year-old ties with BJP and may join Congress. JD(U) leaders reportedly were disappointed with BJP which recently has promoted Gujarat CM Narendra Modi as its election campaign chairman.

JD(U) sources said that its leaders are convinced that BJP would declare Modi as its Prime Minister nominee for the upcoming elections which are expected to be held in 2014. Kumar has always been opposing Modi's candidature for the BJP PM post. Kumar, who is expected to announce the party's final decision after June 14, on Thursday, June 13 confirmed that he spoke to BJP leaders Rajnath Singh and Advani. However, he did not give any assurance to the BJP leaders about salvaging the partnership to contest the national elections together.
So this might be the ultimate case that RSS and other allies of BJP doesn't want Advani out of the equation as his expertise would certainly drive the JDU people back with the BJP, who has all eyes on the government, as Congress has not been able to impress the citizens with their drastic economic and social reforms.

Unfortunately when it comes to corruption, both parties are still giving one another a tough competition!!

Tough Life The RGV style

Its tough being RGV...

Imagine going on twitter and typing something really cool but mixing 'gaali' in between? It should be normal for a teen to use abusive words while talking about friends, but you wont expect this from an elderly person plus if he is a celebrity. But Ram Gopal Varma defies the rules! After his latest controversy on Bbuddaah Hoga Tera Baap, he had brought things under control with a counter statement. No offense, but after watching that movie one would love to speak that out!

When one controversy got killed RGV had took-up another with the sentence announcement of Maria Susairaj, the culprit in the killing of a reporter along with her fiancee. RGV was keen, as you will find on twitter about the ruling and had expressed his deep desire to cast her in a movie of his own!

This has triggered stir among the 'good-being' parties and the latest controversy comes in with the fact that he was sent a threat message by BJP and was asked to dire from the project! On receiving this letter RGV has went ahead to the police station and has filed a complaint against the Party. Speaking to the press, he did mention that he lives in a free country and reserves the right for expression. He also mentioned that he wont tolerate any Goondaism against his creative freedom!

He also mentioned that it is for the law of the country to decide if Maria is guilty of the crimes and if she does deserve jail or be free. He is strong on his wish to cast her in the movie and he says that he is waiting for the right story line.

RGV also took on the media mentioning that this is the strong side and you have a new story!

Now RGV will have tough time to live with, as he will be surrounded with the guards and enjoy only minor limits of freedom!
