Kerala based startup firm, RHL vision has developed a new ring based gadget that communicates with more than devices and enabling users to control the devices using gestures. So you could be connecting this to your smartphone, bluetooth stereo or a tv with bluetooth support.
The technology used by the ring, which is named as "FIN" by RHL vision is bluetooth and this will be the second of its kind to be announced. We had seen the Chennai based startup firm bringing up Smarty Rings which was a great hit and went about collecting $300,000 on Indiegogo campaign.

“People in today’s world are becoming more busy, but still they are wasting a lot of time interacting with their smart devices,” Rohildev Nattukallingal, founder of the Kochi-based RHLVision Technologies, the startup behind Fin. “Fin removes this interaction gap by allowing users to quickly interact with those devices,” said Nattukallingal.
The ring currently is loaded with upto 5 usable gestures but is expandable to n numbers based on the softwares created on the devices it communicates with. The device can control the volume on a TV, and even lets users text or dial a number without touching their phone. The developers say they hope Fin can help people who are visually impaired.
What differs from Smarty Rings is that it controls the devices whereas the smarty ring is more for notifications. Most of these smart rings use Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) or NFC to connect to devices around, but Fin will use Bluetooth dual-mode for compatibility with more devices. The advantage of using BLE is that devices will have very low power consumption, but in case of dual mode it might be slightly higher. The company claims that the battery should last for about a week after charging, but since it hasn’t disclosed the capacity of the battery it will be using in its final product, we’ll need to wait and see if the company can deliver on that front.

The company is trying to raise $100,000 via Indiegogo but has managed to raise only $20,157 till now. The ring is being offered for $99 via the fundraising website, with a note that the device will cost $120 when it’s commercially available. Rohildev N, the founder of the company however is still going ahead with the project. He is planning to visit China next month to speed up the manufacturing process. As of now, they are building the PCBs in India and assembling them in Kochi on their own.
