The actor is survived by 3 children to his partner Mimi O'Donnell.

"We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Phil and appreciate the outpouring of love and support we have received from everyone," Hoffman's family said in a statement issued through his publicist.

"This is a tragic and sudden loss and we ask that you respect our privacy during this time of grieving. Please keep Phil in your thoughts and prayers," it added. A representative said the family would not make any further statements for now.

CNN, citing a law enforcement official, reported that Hoffman was last seen alive at 8 p.m. Saturday. He had been expected to pick up his children on Sunday but failed to show up, prompting playwright David Katz and another person to go to his apartment, where they found him dead, CNN said.

Hoffman spoke in the past of struggling with drugs, including a 2006 interview in which he told CBS he had abused "anything I could get my hands on. I liked it all."

Born in upstate New York near Rochester, Hoffman won the Best Actor Oscar for the 2005 biographical film "Capote," in which he played writer Truman Capote. He also received three Academy Award nominations as best supporting actor, for "The Master" in 2013, "Doubt" in 2009 and "Charlie Wilson's War" in 2008.

May his soul rest in peace.

Marketing and Visibility, Most Important - Emraan

Emraan Hashmi, the latest inductee to the A-list category of Bollywood actors is quite definite about what he does and what he chooses. He is extremely careful not to be blown away by the appreciation that he has started receiving and still remains conservative about how he works. Emraan who had back to back hits and is quite happy to be accepted for his work and he believes in continuing to improve the job he has in hand.

“It feels great to be finally getting this kind of acceptance. It sort of reinforces the faith that the industry has in you. It always feels good when you get appreciation but it is also important that you don’t let all this get to you. I just believe in doing my job and going home,” the actor says. Emraan has already started working on his next movie, Shanghai, which is again a realistic movie and here Emraan portrays the role of a local journalist and a porn-director.

When media did ask him if he has gone choosier about the roles he take up and the banners he is ready to work on, he says “The script is of prime importance. I am open to working with everyone, provided my character is well etched out. Also the producers need to have the money to make sure the film works. Financially, the banner has to be able to deliver what has been promised in terms of marketing and visibility. That is very important,”.

Emraan who is excited about his role in Shanghai added that he has a tough role in hand and has a lot of opportunity to work on, “I play Jogi Parmar, a small town journalist who is extremely multi-faceted. He also shoots wedding videos as a side business. He is quite a colourful character. He also suffers from low self esteem and throughout the film, yearns to stand up for himself. It is probably one of my most difficult roles till date but Dibakar (director Dibakar Banerjee) is brilliant. He is so good that half your job is already done. Abhay too is an absolute professional. I had a great time while shooting.”

Way to go Emraan!!

I have always wanted to be a strong mass actor - Emraan

With the blazing success of Jannat 2 Emraan Harshmi still wishes to be the man for the masses. He has given back to back successes starting from Murder 2 which he did last year. He has been the man associated with most of the successful movies, but the critics and reviewers still fails to classify him in the A-list of actors. Jannat 2 which came out with a seemingly common storyline was backed up strongly by the performances by its actors, the lead role played by Emraan was regarded as the game changer in the movie.

When the daily recently caught up with the actor - they asked up the most popular question about him being excluded from the A-list; "I have never really wanted to sort myself and other actors by that list. I have always done films that I believed in and yes it is very important for box office collections to do well. I have never really wanted to belong," the 33-year-old said here in Mumbai.

Murder 2, The Dirty Picture and Jannat 2 was one of the most critically acclaimed characters by the actor and he has gone from the spoiled metro youngster to the gangster - he has never really stopped experimenting when it comes to taking up roles. He says ""I'd rather not belong to a particular list and just do films I probably did four years back. I don't want to get safer with the success of 'Jannat 2'. I want to do riskier films and make them a success,".

The actor also feels that his movies should be able to pull up masses more than classes (not that he hates it!) and he works each of his movies to make an impression to the people he loves. "I hold the verdict of the people who watch films cinematically in single screens very close to my heart. I go to single screens to watch the reaction of the people. For me that is a big reward. I have always wanted to be a strong mass actor," says Emraan.

Emraan's next is Dibakar Banerjee's Shanghai in which he plays Joginder Parmar, a porn filmmaker. He is also set to work in his first 'U' certified film (sic!)

Whether be the serial kisser or the real gangster or the lover boy - we love you Emraan!

Rohit Shetty turns actor

Director Rohit Shetty, who was recently seen in the reality show "The Big Switch" playing the judge, is all set to make his debut as an actor.

He is not acting in his own movie but in his friend Tusshar Kapoor's sister's movie. He has shot a cameo in Ekta Kapoor’s Kya Super Cool Hai Hum (KSKHH) directed by Sachin Yardi.

Kya Super Kool Hai Hum is a sequel to the 2005 hit, Kya Kool Hai Hum starring Riteish Deshmukh and Tusshar Kapoor along with Neha Sharma and Sarah Jane-Dias.

Tusshar Kapoor, who plays the lead role in the movie, confirmed the news and said, “Yes, Rohit is doing a cameo in the film. I have shot with him and it was fun.”

Additionally, the actor was instrumental in getting Rohit on board for the project. The production team approached him for the cameo but as he was busy shooting Bol Bachchan, talks couldn’t progress. Tusshar then convinced Rohit to come on board. He said, “He had never turned down the cameo to begin with. But he agreed after I spoke to him.”

In Kya Super Kool Hai Hum, Rohit Shetty plays himself, a director who is shy and quiet on screen. The filmmakers wrapped up Rohit’s portion in few hours as Ekta Kapoor didn’t want to take much of his time. Tusshar Kapoor said, “We wanted him to be happy as that’s how he is when work is done quickly.”

A source close to the movie said, "Actor Tusshar Kapoor has acted in all the three Golmaal series directed by Rohit Shetty. They share a great rapport and the director couldn't say no to him."

Arbaaz Khan gets his email hacked!

Mumbai: As the uncle speaks to Spider man " With more power comes more responsibility "; this saying will have to be altered as "With more hits come more attacks" well this has not been true for all actors/producers, but Arbaaz Khan should feel so. He was hacked the second time in a row and his email address went into the wrong hands. The actor/director/producer was very upset with this act and he tweeted:

 Arbaaz Khan
 Arbaaz Khan
 Arbaaz Khan
 Arbaaz Khan

Arbaaz Khan has been on the height of success with the debut movie he produces 'Dabaang' created high scores and successes. The movie went ahead to be the block buster of the year and broke all the charts and records. The inspiration of this movie was such strong that he is about to be doing a sequel and for the first time he will be directing the movie and the star cast is set to remain the same (more)

With this in light he does feel pretty bad on these attacks!
