In :

As the year closes in, Bollywood experienced a good change and some good hits through the year. The movies that were close to real life were widely accepted, so was the remakes of South movies. We had the option of viewing more 3D action and Sci-Fi Thrillers, all in all it was a treat. IANS has tried to compile the best movies that made the a good gross collection.

1. Bodyguard : Salman Khan starrer Bodyguard is regarded as the top hit of the year with collecting over Rs. 22 crore on the first day of its release. The movie was a remake of South Indian Movie (Malayalam Movie - Bodyguard). The songs and action of Sallu was much appreciated. The movie also went as the debut of Prakash Raj to bollywood, whose performance in negative role was much praised.

2. Ra.One : The sci-fi thriller from Shah Rukh Khan was winning the race with an out of the world visual effects and action which did match a Hollywood movie. The story was weak but the promotion tactics by King Khan made it up and made people move into theatres. The song 'Chammak Challo' is still the most in-demand party number, sung by Akon.

3. The Dirty Picture: The movie that is ruled by the sensuous performances and acting talents of Vidya Balan, the movie is a treat to watch and has a firm story line to support. The sexy avtar of Vidya Balan still remains the USP of the movie. The movie tried to portray the on-screen life of south actress 'Silk Smitha'.

The movie remained the only one which did work at box office without a 'Khan' tag.

4. Ready: Another Salman Khan hit movie, which is the remake of south Indian movie (Telugu Movie - Ready) worked wonders for Salman Khan and Asin Thottumkal. The romance between the stars were much appreciated and the drama by Anees Bazmee was added spice with the exotic shooting locations at Thailand.

5. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara - ZNMD - the multi starrer worked wonders onscreen as it was literally a trip to exotic locations of Spain. The story of friendship and bachelorship also worked great, and to some extend it did add a realistic feel to the movie. Beautiful performances by the talented cast - Hrtihik Roshan, Abhay Deol, Farhan Akhtar, with Kalki Koechlin and Katrina Kaif as their love interests, added more spice to the movie.

Kudos to director Zoya Akhtar for bringing liveliness, happiness and joyfulness with such deftness on screen through an adventurous road film mostly based in Spain.

6. Singham : Ajay Devgan starrer was an instant hit with the masses. The movie is again a remake of south Indian movie ( Tamil Movie - Singham ) which had rewritten the hit charts in south. Rohit Shetty had further spiced up the action sequences which was boosted up by the genuine actor Ajay Devgan. This movie also happened to be the debut for Kajal Agarwal into bollywood. Prakash Raj was playing the villain in this movie.

7. Rockstar: Another great hit from Ranbir Kapoor, his dedication to the movie helped the actor conquer the mass audience. His role was critically applauded and the music still makes the youth rock. The actor portrayed the real life of a Rockstar. A R Rahman's tunes were widely accepted and so was the singing of Mohit Chauhan.

The movie marked the debut of Pakistani model, Nargis Fakhri to bollywood.

8. Mere Brother Ki Dulhan - The movie did not have much to say as a hit but some hidden factor does seem to have worked. The much appreciated pairing of Imran Khan with Katrina Kaif remained the USP for the movie. Ali Zaffar, the pakistani Singer actor and the hero for Tere Bin Laden, was also appreciated for his role.

9. "Delhi Belly": Replete with cuss words, weird situations, witty dialogues, the experimental movie in the English language targeted the urban audiences, who hailed this free will adult comedy as they identified with the characters of Imran Khan, Kunal Roy Kapoor and Vir Das in the movie. If director Abhinay Deo faced failure with "Game", this film pulled him out of darkness and Aamir Khan once again proved that he has a knack for choosing the best scripts as a producer.

10. "Yamla Pagla Deewana": After the 2007 release "Apne", the Deol trio - Sunny, Bobby and Dharmendra - returned to the big screen with the comic caper "Yamla Pagla Deewana" by director Sameer Karnik. Though a small budget film, it received an overwhelming response. The impeccable comic timing between the father and sons struck a chord with the audiences.
