The cute and charming Bollywood actor Imran Khan will turn bad in the sequel of Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai. The perfect lover boy material Imran Khan will play a don in parallel lead with Akshay Kumar in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2.
Girish Johar, head of acquisition and distribution, Balaji Motion Pictures said, "Talks were on with Shahid but we have decided on Imran now. Imran loved the script, and we are very gung-ho about this project. The audience will get to see a different Imran." The project will be directed by Milan Luthria, who is celebrating the success of The Dirty Picture.
In the film, Akshay will be seen as underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, and Imran will play his rival Aslam. Imran’s character Aslam is not based on real-life gangsters Chota Shakeel or Chota Rajan, but a fictional underworld baddie. Producer Ekta Kapoor said, “We couldn’t have asked for a better actor. Not only does Imran fit the role of Aslam to the T, he also enjoys an unprecedented fan following as a star.”
Director Milan Lutharia said, “By casting Akshay and Imran together for the first time, we’ve pulled off the casting coup of the year. Both stars are diverse in their appeal, style and presence. Like Akshay, Imran was electrified by the script that Rajat (Aroraa) and I worked on.”
Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai which was released in 2010 had Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi together on screen. Their mentor-turned-rival chemistry as Sultan Mirza and Shoaib was appreciated. Producers are hoping that the Akshay-Imran pairing works wonders for the sequel too.
