Neeraj Pandey director of 'A Wednesday' started shooting for his second film 'Special Chabbis' in Delhi. Neeraj Pandey is a brilliant director who had earlier done the critically acclaimed A Wednesday. The film was later remade as Unnaipol Oruvan in Tamil with Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal.
The lead lady for Special Chabbis is the Tamil and Telugu star Kajal Aggarwal. She made her debut in Bollywood in 2010 with the remake of Tamil superhit movie Singam (starring Suriya and Anushka Shetty), which became a blockbuster hit. Apart from Singham Kajal has also appeared in a guest role in Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Vivek Oberoi starrer film, 'Kyun Ho Gaya Na'.
Special Chabbis is based on the real-life drama that took place in 1987 when an unknown person posing as CBI officer Mon Singh recruited 26 men, executed with them a daylight raid on the Opera House branch of Tribhuvandas Bhimji Jewellers, Mumbai and disappeared with gold worth lakhs of rupees.
While Akshay plays the imposter in the movie, Manoj Bajpai will be seen as the real CBI agent. Kajal plays the fictional role of Mon Singh's love interest in the film. Kajal was recommended by Akshay Kumar himself, he was smitten by her performance and found her apt for this film and was keen in featuring her as his lead lady. The film's producers Viacom 18 were also keen to bring the Singham girl in Special Chabbis.
A source close to the movie said, "A lot of actors, including Ajay Devgan, were keen to get her to do a second film with him. But Kajal wanted to be adventurous and different. She had seen Neeraj Pandey's A Wednesday and loved it. More importantly, she knew she wanted to work with Akshay Kumar as much as he wanted to work with her. The charm of doing Special Chabbis is that she's the only female character in the film. Everyone, including Akshay, felt the film needed some glamour so a role was specially written for Kajal in the film."
She has turned out to be one of the busy actresses down south. Apart from Special Chabbis this year she is appearing in a movie each alongside NTR, Ram Charan Tej, Pawan Kalyan, Suriya and Vijay.
