Superstar Amitabh Bachchan will setup a girls college in Uttar Pradesh. The college will be named after his daughter-in-law and Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
The college will be set up by the mega-star's Sewa Sansthan instead of actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada's Nishtha Foundation. Initially, the responsibility for construction of the college was allotted to actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada's Foundation. However, it has now been given to Amitabh Bachchan Sewa Sansthan(ABSS) set up by the villagers.
The Aishwarya Rai Bachchan Girls College would be constructed at Daulatpur village in Fatehpur tehsil. The village head of Daulatpur Amit Singh has been appointed as the manager of the Sansthan and the land deed executed in its favour. A cheque of Rs. five lakh from Amitabh Bachchan for the construction of the college has also been given to the Sansthan.
Amitabh Bachchan had laid the foundation stone of Aishwarya Rai College in the Daulatpur village on January 27, 2008. Construction work was assigned to the Foundation three years back but the building process did not start till now. The construction work by the Sewa Sansthan would start this year and was expected to be completed next year.
It is said that there would be a school from nursery to class 12 and later it will be upgraded to a degree college.
