When Aishwarya met Ban ki moon

Mukesh and Nita Ambani organised a bash for United Nations General Secretary Ban Ki-moon, who had recently visited India. The party was held at their residence Antilia at Peddar road.

At the party Aishwarya Rai and Karisma Kapoor were about to clash with each other at the common entrance of Antilla. Both the ladies even had a face off at the entrance which created an awkward situation, Aishwarya facing her husband's ex-girlfriend would have obviously created embarrassment but actress Raveena Tandon who had come along with her husband Anil Thadani prompted in between, avoiding the embarrassment. 

Prior to the party Mukesh Ambani and other Indian business leaders met the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, government officials and civil society representatives to discuss India's progress in meeting the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

The meeting focused on how Indian business leaders can help to ensure significant progress towards achieving the MDGs on various social issues. Ambani, who is also a member of the advocacy group on MDGs. 

Ban ki moon said that, "Much progress has been made in India, but to meet the MDGs and save the lives of 16 million women and children, a collective effort from all sectors is required. The private sector can lead the way."

After the meeting in the evening, Ambani and other MDG Advocates hosted an event for members of the private, non-profit bodies, government and other sectors, highlighting ways in which progress can be made for improving health of women and children in India.

Several Bollywood stars like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Aamir Khan with wife Kiran Rao, Imran Khan,Rajkumar Hirani, Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, and many others attended the party.

Mr Ban Ki-moon thanked the celebrities for raising awareness about HIV, human rights and poverty in India. He said, "Many of their films tell stories of the poor. They reach millions of people I never could, and they inspire action against poverty and injustice."
