We like the timing when a sudden unofficial releases or 'leaks' happen with movies which are just about reaching its official song release. We had seen this with Ra.One and now we have a leak from the Shirish Kunder's 'Joker' camp. The song 'I want to Fakht you' was leaked on internet yesterday.
From what we hear of the song, its not so superb as Chammak Challo, just feels like 'Chikini Chameli' and the song continues with the same trend. The shots of Chitrangada Singh in Lavani dress is also a similarity if one can draw more.
The camp confirms that the song has been changed and the word 'Fakht' has been changed to 'Just' to avoid further controversies on release. The word 'Fakht' was from Marathi. This is apparently giving director Shirish Kunder sleepless nights. Talking about it he says, “This song is the highlight of the film which is picturised on Chitrangda. After a special screening with a focussed audience group, we got the feedback that the word fakht should be changed to compliment the ‘U’ certificate our film has got. These things happen when usually we have a crowd sequence being shot. This leak must have happened either from the recording studio or from one of the dancers, who usually have the songs to rehearse their steps. We are still trying to figure out who the culprit is and then we will see how we can take this forward. We want to ensure strict punishment is meted out to the culprit since it is illegally done.”
"This is an older version the song that is in the film. It's been a horrible morning, with people texting and calling me about it. I woke up to these messages, and I am yet to see what is online, but this is in bad taste. That too, just when the movie is ready, and we're ready to talk about it," rages Shirish.
Farah Khan, the producer of the film, says she can't believe this is happening to her all over again. "I had a heart attack in the morning when I saw the texts and tweets. This happened during Tees Maar Khan also, when both the songs and their videos were leaked online. Where the hell is this coming from? It is difficult to find out, and this is an old version. Our music hasn't even been officially launched, and you all can be cynical and say this is a publicity stunt, but for us, this is more of a loss than a gain. What if someone copies the song? I have learnt the hard way, and I don't even know how to stop this now. And if we wanted controversy, we would have let the song stay in the film. We ourselves removed it, saying this is a children's film and there should be nothing controversial to it. Wait, let me go and see it," she says.
"Thank God, it's a small mercy that at least, the video is not there. This means someone has put together the stills of the film with the older version of the song and uploaded it. This is just not done." says Farah after viewing the song on youtube.
