Maruti A Star Gets A New Make Over And Name - Celerio ?

In :

The much popular compact hatch Maruti A-Star will have a make over and will most probably be displayed in the upcoming moto expo. The new avatar of A star was displayed in the Thailand International Auto Expo.

The car will make its entry into few more markets including the Indian market and is said to be a hit as was with the previous generations. The earlier code named YL-7 the new market name for the compact hatch is said to be Celerio.

The name 'Celerio' has already been used by the Suzuki as a suffix with the Alto badge in few international auto markets. If media reports to be believed, Maruti might launch this small hatchback at the Motor Show in February, with deliveries to be made after the event. The new hatchback measures 3600mm x 1600mm x 1540mm (length x width x height) and has got a 2425mm of wheelbase. Suzuki Celerio will share most of its design cues from the A-Wind Concept and it will be more taller, spacious and sportier than its predecessor.

Celerio will be powered by 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder K-Series petrol engine that churns out a maximum power output of 67bhp and 90Nm of top torque. Power is transmitted to front wheels via a four-speed automatic transmission. It will also come in manual transmission (five-speed).

We expect to see the first glimpse of the car in February Auto Expo.

The concept model that is coming up with lot of visual changes as well, the latest photos show the A star headlights with a projector lamps and a chrome grill to match it. The car now comes with fog lamps as well, it seems that there will be considerable changes on the interiors as well.

It seems that the top end model is the one that is photographed and will also come with alloy wheels. However towards the rear it continues the new statement of Maruti as displayed in new Alto 800.

Stay tuned for more!
