Katrina Kaif who is presently in London shooting for Yash Chopra’s film with Shahrukh Khan will be visiting Kochi on March 25th, 2010. She will walk the ramp at an upcoming fashion event in Kochi just for 10 mins and will bag home Rs 1 crore.
YES......1 crore for JUST 10 mins !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seems as if just to get a glimpse of Katrina people are ready to pay what she demands.
The amount offered to a local star for a similar event does not even come up to half of what the Chikni Chameli Katrina has been offered. A person involved in organising the event said, "Bollywood stars stand to gain a lot more than local actors. Stars from other south films manage to take home the next high amount, for instance actresses down South like Trisha, Asin and Shreya Saran take home only Rs. 30 Lacs and mostly they are given a gift from the place they are inaugurating along with their payment." So that means the local stars get paid even less than that.
Among local stars who often make a public appearance for inaugurations, dance shows or just a brief presence at an event are Samvritha Sunil, Suresh Gopi and Kavya Madhavan.
Few months back Shahrukh Khan had visited Kochi to inaugurate a showroom of Emmanuval Silks and he was paid more than 2 crores for the same (where he even promoted his movie Don-2).
Whereas when superstars like Mamooty and Mohanlal make a public appearence they ensure that the beneficiaries sponsor a child’s surgery or education with the money they may have put aside for the superstar's remuneration.
The local stars have become a second priority and also get paid much less than the B-town stars.
