Nikita declined? - The Dirty Picture remake

The latest buzz about the remake of  Vidya Balan stunner 'The Dirty Picture' in South is actively the topic of discussion. The production house is already handling the list of offers they are receiving from Telugu and Tamil filmmakers. There has been also a rumor that Nikita Thukral, a Telugu movie protagonist will be beefing the role when remade. But it seems that that the home production house of 'The dirty Picture' has different thoughts about this.

Swati Shetty, vice president of The Dirty Picture's production house, states, "After Vidya Balan in The Dirty Picture, we'd rather have a known and established name for the remake, instead of a newcomer or not-so-well-known name."

As Vidya had already raised the bars of skills in the movie, directed by Milan Luthria, the production house wouldn't want a lesser impact on the South Indian movie industry when the movie is remade. A source had already given the hint that it would be mostly Nikita who will be doing the Telugu version of the movie, but with the above profile said by the home productions, it will be a tough luck for Nikita as she hasn't been much established as an actress in the industry.


Swati confirmed that they had received a couple of offers for the remake rights. "But nothing has been finalised as yet. In fact, we will not just part with the remake rights, but also ensure we are involved as co-producers. That way, we can also have creative control over the final product, with the essence and the soul of the storyline intact,"


So it seems that Nikita won't fit into the equation, we will have to wait actively to see who packs in for the role.
