Lynch explains - Mallika's Hiss

In : |

The recent news is about a documentary that is being directed by Penny Vozniak, 'Despite The Gods', which is due to hit screens at Toronto. The documentary showcases how Jennifer Lynch, the director of 'Hiss' moves to India and directs the movie. And also explains how things went wrong suddenly. Lynch who had tried to tell the story of a Snake women or Naagin, through 'Hiss' had failed drastically at the box office. Mallika had cleaned herself from the fall by saying "Hisss was taken away from me in the edit. I have no idea what the film looks like." And then, she had added, "My name is all over it (the film). I can do nothing. But I want to come back."

It seems that Mallika had no troubles getting off with the flop, but it seems that Lynch has decided to take a one on one attack with her through the documentary. The documentary also blames Vikram Singh and Govind Menon - the co-producers of the movie, who did make Lynch's vision a big disaster.

The website for the documentary clearly states "Perhaps there is a good reason why Hollywood and Bollywood have never blended like this before..." and goes on "The more they plan, the more the Gods laugh. The more they try to lock things down, the more they seem to shift; locations, cast, scripts are constantly rotated, re-invented and improvised depending on what the Indian day brings."

The first trailer of the documentary clearly shows the frustration of the director to work on the movie stars and the tough part of handling the crew. She is constantly in the F world even while explaining the sequence and has a despair that its her third movie and hopes it is not her last (which isn't). The movie portrays Mallika, Vikram and Govind and also the daughter of Lynch who is watching the sequences. She constantly says that its a female oriented movie and is all about sex, lust, desire and revenge.

Vikram Singh, co-producer of Hisss, he says , "We are unaware of the documentary and if someone has to make it they have to take the rights from us."

The copyrights issue notwithstanding, Lynch's story behind the scenes sure seems more exciting than what went on in front of it during the making of the film. Hopefully this will hit the top charts of bollywood and not fall like her previous venture!
