Rani Mukharjee to play Begum Samru

Actress Rani Mukharjee will be soon be seen in Tigmanshu Dhulia's next movie. Rani will be seen playing the rold of Begum Samru in the biopic.

The film is based on Begum Joanna Nobilis Sombre, popularly known as Begum Samru who started her career as a Nautch girl in 18th Century India, and eventually became the ruler of Sardhana, a principality near Meerut. Later on, she played a key role in the political power struggle in 18th and 19th century India. She was the head of a professionally trained mercenary army, inherited from her European mercenary husband, Walter Reinhardt Sombre. This mercenary army consisted of Europeans and Indians. She is also regarded as the only Catholic Ruler in India, as she ruled the Principality of Sardhana in 18th and 19th century India.

Tigmanshu Dhulia's recent release was Paan Singh Tomar which was quite successful at the box office.

It is said that Rani had a couple of formal meeting with the director Tigmanshu Dhulia and the role had been finalized. It is even said that the role was written as per keeping Rani in mind. A source even said, "Rani loves Tigmanshu's style of filmmaking. He is soon going to go for a recce."

Besides this movie Rani Mukharjee will also be seen in Aamir Khan's TALAASH.
