Aamir Khan to do a film on AIDS

In : |

Buzz is that Bollywood star Aamir Khan might be roped in by director Priyadarshan for his next project based on AIDS.

The movie was under the wraps since the year 2009.

Director Priyadarshan said that,"The project on AIDS is on, but the script is not yet ready... (I had) too many schedules and things to do so couldn't finish the script. I had discussed it with Aamir earlier and that time he wanted to do the film."

In a recent interview the director Priyadarshan said that he would definitely do the film once the scripting is over and will begin the work on the project once he finishes shooting for his current film Kamaal Dhamaal Malamaal starring Nana Patekar, Shreyas Talpade and Paresh Rawal and produced by Percept Picture Company. He even said that he had spoken earlier with Aamir Khan, who wanted to sign this project.
He added, “I will complete the script first and approach him (Aamir) again. If he has time he will do it.”
The movie will be without songs, comedy and free of commercial trappings.

Previously filmmakers like Revathy and Onir had done a movie on the subject of AIDS in their films 'Phir Milenge' (2004) and 'My Brother Nikhil' (2005). The movie 'Phir Milenge' had a star-studded cast that included Salman Khan, Shilpa Shetty and Abhishek Bachchan and the movie 'My Brother Nikhil' starred Sanjay Suri, Juhi Chawla and Purab Kohli. Both films did not run successfully at the box office but both the films received critical acclaims.
