Veteran actress Hema Malini had invited Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi for her daughter Esha Deol's wedding with Bharat Takhtani.
But the actress says that the two couldn't come due to security reasons and that the latter has invited the newly wed couple at her residence for dinner.
"We had invited PM and Sonia Gandhi for the wedding. They couldn't come for security reasons. If it would have been in Delhi, they would have made it. It's a sweet gesture from Sonia Gandhi that she has sent Esha and Bharat an invite that whenever they are in Delhi, they should go to her place for lunch or dinner."

Star kid Esha Deol got married to Bandra based diamond merchant Bharat Takhtani on 29th June, 2012 at the Hare Rama Hare Krishna temple which is located at Juhu. Esha Deol tied the knot Bharat Takhtani in a traditional Hindu wedding ceremony. The wedding ceremony was a private affair with only family members and close friends from the industry being invited.
The reception which took place on 30th June, 2012 at Hotel Lalit at Andheri, a suburban five-star hotel witnessed more than 1000 people, including politicians, corporate personalities and the Bollywood celebs. From B-town actors Dilip Kumar, Saira Banu, Jeetendra with wife Shobha Kapoor and son Tushar Kapoor, Sanjay Khan, new Rajya Sabha MP Rekha, Zeenat Aman, Vidya Balan, Madhuri Dixit with her hubby Dr. Nene, Sushmita Sen, Tabu, Kajol, Tanuja, Tanisha, Mandira Bedi, Anupam Kher, Fardeen Khan Zayed Khan and Sridevi with Bobby Kapoor and Salman Khan.
From the political gang senior BJP leaders Sushma Swaraj, Ravi Shankar Prasad, Raj Thackeray, Sushma Swaraj, LK Advani, Uddhav Thackeray, Amar Singh, Sushil Kumar Shinde, Narayan Rani, Suresh Kalmadi and many others were present.
