Michael Clarke Will Miss India Tour This Month

Michael Clarke's fitness will stop him for the Twenty20 matche and seven ODI's against India to be started on October 13th. The Australian captain is held back due to back injury and will be available only for the test series in Australia. The announcement came out from Cricket Australia.

In absence of Michael Clarke, George Bailey will be leading the team. Michael Clarke hasn't had a good record this year, as in ashes he led the team to a 3-0 loss. The chronic back injury that the player is being affected off worsened after the tour. Michael hopes to get fit for the test series that will start on Nov21 in Brisbane.

"Michael was very keen to captain the ODI team to India but unfortunately he hasn't progressed enough to be available for selection," national selector John Inverarity said.

Team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said Clarke's chronic low back injury flared up during the recent one-day series in England and had been slow to improve.

"Michael ... will require a more extensive rehabilitation period before returning to competitive cricket," Kountouris said. Australia have added Nic Maddison to the Twenty20 squad in India.

They will play a one-off Twenty20 international on Oct. 13 and the seven-match one-day series starts three days later.
