A R Rahman, the Maestro has been once again in the top list of nominations for the Global Indian Music Academy Awards, the 3rd in the series. The nominations are for 'Rockstar' which had stirred up the charts not only in India, but globally and this might be a bigger chance of A R Rahman to hit the glory once again.
The movie has been nominated for Best Music Arranger and Programmer, Best Background Score, two nominations for Best Playback Singer Male along with Javed Ali and Mohit Chauhan, Best Music Director, Best Film Song and Best Film Album.
The movie which released in 2011 had made the rock music spread like a fever and it still drives the magic among many.
The nominations for Rockstar is closely followed by Shahrukh Khan starrer Ra One and Zoya Akhtar's Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara. Both the films have bagged 8 nominations. Hrithik Roshan-Sanjay Dutt starrer Agneepath, released earlier this year, has also received 5 nominations. Delhi Belly and The Dirty Picture have also been nominated for the best film album category.
Vishal Shekhar have a total of 5 nominations for their work in The Dirty Picture, Kahaani and Ra One.
Newcomer Ayushmann Khurrana has been nominated in two categories for Best Debut Composer and Best Lyricist & Singer for the soulful Paani Da Rang from Vicky Donor. Newcomer Kamal Khan has also been nominated in the Best Debut category for the song Ishq Sufiana which gained massive popularity.
International artist Akon and Mika Singh have also been nominated in the Best Playback Singer category for Chammak Challo and Subah Hone Na De.
The nominations are closed now and will be reviewed by the panel of Anup Jalota, Dr. L. Subramaniam, Ehsaan Noorani.
