Akshay Kumar taking a break from comedy

After the release of "Housefull 2", actor Akshay Kumar said that he will be taking a break from comedy to concentrate on action films and serious cinema. The 44 year old actor said, "After Housefull 2, my next two releases "Joker" and "Once Upon a time in Mumbai 2" are hard core actions. I am happy that the action man is back."

Akshay said, "For the past seven years, I was craving for a serious and full-fledged action film but I was loaded with comedy. There was too much of comedy from my end. Even I got bored of them. Action is something with which I have started my career and it gave me the platform to become a star. I enjoy doing them and now for sometime I will stick to this particular genre."

The actor who has always enthralled the audience with his breathtaking stunts be it in films ("Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi" and "Mohra") or on TV (Khatron k Khiladi) said, "There is a sea change in the action genre. Earlier, only a handfull of stars who used to do action films. Now, almost all the actors are trying their lucks in action. New technologies have been introduced and a lot of money is being spent on it."

Since a few years actor Akshay Kumar has been seen in many comedy flicks like "Welcome", "Singh Is Kinng", "Housefull" and "Tees Maar Khan". While he was successful in a comic role in the movies "Hera Pheri" and "Garam Masala", his latest releases like "Thank You" and "Action Replayy" bombed at the box-office. He said, "I had a bad year. There were many things which went wrong last year. I chose some bad scripts and eventually all the films didn't do well at the box-office."

Regarding his multistarrer movie Housefull 2 where he is playing a mischievous guy called Jolly One, he said, "It is an entertaining film. My character is inspired by Ranjeet. There are so many actors into it but all the actors play an equally important role. Multi-starrers are always fun and I always enjoy them because I believe in quality rather than quantity,"
