hahid Kapoor had a tough time when he started his career, his first movie 'Ishq Vishq' was a instant hit but ever since that he had tough time catching grip, but for the past four or five years, as he says himself, he has changed as a person and has also changed the way he look at movies. He was talking to IANS after the success party of his movie Mausam, the movie has been grabbing high collections and reflects various phases of the actor. The actor is so overwhelmed by the success that he mentions "Ten years earlier I used to dream at where I am now".
The movie 'Mausam' is a directorial debut of Pankaj Kapoor, a veteran actor and father to Shahid Kapoor. The movie portrays Shahid as Harinder Singh - a young, fun-loving youngster to a aware, mature and responsible person. It was as if the movie shows the transition of Shahid Kapoor over his career, when asked about the change he says "I am glad it reflects! I remember sitting with Dad and he said 'Beta, I dont want to show you in one shade, I want you to show different aspects of you as an actor'".While talking about his previous phase of career he said "At the start of my career I was running around every auditions and attending them and getting rejected. Being the son to a veteran actor was not helping me much". he continues "When I started the career, I was ready to do any role and this was for the love of acting and I knew that acting was something I loved the most in the world. But I got confused, for the first three or four years I was confused, I did not know what was right and what was wrong" he said with a sigh " There was no one to guide me, no one to tell me. Although my father was in movies, he wasn't playing lead characters, further he asked me to make my own mistakes and that was what got happening in the phase". He then flashed his smile and continued "Then I made the most important and simplest decision in my life - Do what you want to do and do what you love".
"I decided to forget about what would work, what would not work or what is supposed to work. I started doing movies which excited me and the movies which I believed in. That is when my career steered and started to take shape". The actor remembers "It was only four or five years back that I took this decision and I am fortunate to be where I am today. I am very satisfied with the kind of work that I am doing and I have a long way to go". The actor mentioned that during this phase he was able to do movies like 'Vivah', 'Jab We Met', 'Kaminey' and 'Badmaash Company'.
When talking about 'Mausam' the actor says "In 'Mausam' I completely let out myself as an actor and followed my father, its another kind of experience and I love to do it more often. I just blindly followed his instruction and I think it brings different things in you as an actor, and also I understood one fact - Father is always right - you can argue, discuss, but he is the boss!"
When asked about his future plans on direction the actor was clear cut on his decision " I am not directing, while in the movie 'Mausam' I have seen my father going through different tensions and stress. So its a clear No, I am fine with acting".
The actor ended the interview with his usual style smile that kills many girls!
