Kuch Spice....Online !!!

In : |

Kuch Spice To Make It Meetha is the first commercial venture which is officially being released on-line. Its a 25-minute short-film. The movie released online on February 29, can be watched in any part of the world.

First-time director Adeeb Rai says, “There are rapid changes happening in the entertainment industry and I wanted to exploit the online medium. We wanted to tap the pulse of the GenX viewers. Marriage is a big question on every youngster’s mind. It leads to confusion, conflicts and friction. So in this film, we talk about all of this and how to make it meetha !”

23 year old Adeeb, a fresher from a film school started working on this project a year ago. Working on a shoe-string budget, he didn’t have the luxury to splurge like other filmmakers. He said, “The actors did not take a rupee from me”. So did Adeeb Rai choose to release the film online because of budget constraints ? He says, “I never thought of releasing it in multiplexes. It is not a niche, festival film meant for a small audience. It had to reach the masses. So the best way was to release it online. It wasn’t the small budget. If I had chosen multiplexes, then it would have released in just one city.”

The actors say it was his enthusiasm that led them to be part of the project. “His extra enthusiastic nature lured us into the project. We never thought of doing it for popularity. In fact the online release is a bonus,” says Nauheed. She plays the character of city-bred Tarana. “It is a fun character and the subject is something that youngsters will relate to”. For Adeeb Rai and his young crew, it is their grand debut in the Hindi film industry.

The story of Kuch Spice To Make it Meetha revolves around a hotly debated topic, 'The attitude today’s youths have towards marriage and commitment'. His next film, Main Aur Mr Riight has a strong connection with Bengaluru and will go on floors this April.

The director hopes that this movie throws open opportunities for people who have new and different ideas but are unable to execute them either because of financial constraints or lack of support from the industry. “This initiative should encourage filmmakers and technicians to showcase their talent.”
