Makers of Jannat 2 in legal trouble

In : |

Just a few days before the release the makers of Jannat 2 have landed in leagl trouble.

A Mumbai-based writer named Kapil Chopra has filed a case against the Bhatts for plagiarism. According to the reports, the case filed against the makers (the Bhatts and director Kunal Deshmukh) states that they have apparently stole the Mumbai-based writer's script and made JANNAT 2. Kapil Chopra has even demanded credit as a story writer.

The law firm Krishnamurthy and Co is representing Kapil. A source said that, "They have demanded an injunction on the release of the film and have also demanded for due credit."

A source said that, "Kapil had registered his story with the Film Writers Association in 2007. He knew the director of the film, Kunal Deshmukh very well. He had narrated the script to him and had also left a bound copy at Bhatts office." and added that, "When Kapil saw the promos of the film he realised that it was his story. The characters, plot and the dialogues were strikingly similar to his script. He met Kunal and Mukesh Bhatt but they denied his allegation. The young writer filed his case against the producers who are allegedly known for lifting films."

The hearing of the case took place yesterday evening and was presided over by Justice Dharma Adhikari. But both the parties the Bhatts and Kapil Chopra refused to reveal any details about the hearing.

Its not the first time the Bhatts have been accused of plagiarism. Even last year it was said that Murder 2 is a copy of the Korean film The Chaser.
