Shahid to do the Southstyle @ IIFA

In : |

Shahid Kapoor's legs might get footloose as Prabhudeva is busy training him for his show at IIFA this year. The grandeur ceremony of cinema will have all glitters and what makes the performance of Shahid Kapoor special is that this time it will be a tribute to the South Indian movie industry. Prabhudeva put in the foot forward when it came to choreographing the South songs like Naka Mukka, Apidi Podu and more.

Shahid Kapoor who is also expecting a big release with Kunal Kohli's 'Teri Meri Kahaani' expects this function to just boost his screen presence. "Prabhu Deva will be choreographing Shahid's dances for IIFA. Shahid is extremely excited as being choreographed by Prabhu Deva is a huge honour. The two are set to bring the house down" confirmed a friend of Shahid's.

Teri Meri Kahaani also brings in lot of difference to the usual story narration (as said by director) and this is the reason which is said to have attracted in both Priyanka and Shahid for the roles. Explains Kohli, "There're three different pairs of characters played by Shahid and Priyanka. In two of them they play a Hindu and a Muslim character. But they swap religious identities in the two sections."

While in the first story situated in 1910 Shahid plays a Muslim lover-boy named Javed and Priyanka a Hindu girl named Aradhana, in the second story that unfolds in 1960, Shahid stars as a strugging music composer named Govind while Priyanka plays a Muslim actress named Rukshar."

Kunal Kohli attempts to break the concepts that religious identities of actors really matter to the movie, and he says "Why do we consider it a problem? It is not! As an Indian and a responsible filmmaker it is my job to show that the so-called differences are all a state of the mind. That's why I made the religious identity inter-changeable in my film. The two halves, the Hindu and the Muslim are changed in the two different segments of the film. I feel cinema needs to wean society away from prejudices. And what better example of communal amity than the movie industry?"

Interestingly Kohli has named Priyanka as Radha after his daughter in the segment of his film set in 2012.

So we will have IIFA as icing on top of 'TMK'.
