Dhyan Chand who had been in news lately for the speculations for Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honor, but the matters are still in discussions at the ministerial level. This is the time when the Bollywood decides to back the legendary player.

“Yes, I have been approached for a movie based on the legendary Dhyan Chandji’s life. Hockey, as a sport, isn’t new to me since I have been an athlete throughout my school and college life, and I’ve especially played a lot of hockey.” says SRK. During his school days at St Columba’s, Delhi, captained the football and hockey teams besides playing cricket at the zonal and national levels.

Shahrukh had also been associated with the hockey movie Chak De! India - 2007, which did an outstanding business and had also shown a different shade of the actor, so when it comes to the next movie, it just adds to the confidence that directors have over this actor. Although the details are still in process, it is said that there are couple of biopics coming in for Dhyan Chand, along with Satyajeet Puri, Manmohan Shetty of Walkwater media has already talked with Ashok Kumar, the son to Dhyan Chand.

“Yes, I am going to make a biopic. And it’s not like I have planned it after the success of Paan Singh Tomar or The Dirty Picture. I have been working on it for the past two years. Chand was a one-man army. My film will be a tribute to all the hockey players who still play a sport that could have been dead a long time ago in our country.” says Puri. Walkwater media is yet to confirm the biopic and says they will be duly announcing the movie if they are planning it already.

“I think Ashok has sold the rights to someone else, but since Dhyan Chand is a national treasure, no one needs permission to make his story into a movie,” adds Puri, who is planning his movie in another 5 or 6 months. It seems that the sports legends are coming into life as a whole as we had Paan Singh Tomar and we have 'Bhaag Milkha Bhag' in the making. SRK says “Honestly speaking, I haven’t watched Paan Singh Tomar yet but I’m generally very interested in such (sports-based) roles.”
