Akshay Shows the Path!

In : |

With Mumbai growing each second both economically and socially, there are few issues that are yet to be addressed, the one main issue being the clean city. There has been pollution both up in the sky and down on the road, although every organization and celebrities try to speak about this and extend the knowledge to public, Akshay Kumar has recently done an extreme step.

It was yesterday that the actor was returning to his work after dropping his son at school and found a car driver throwing down an empty packet of cigarettes, which made the actor uneasy and he dropped down from his vehicle and threw back the empty pack back to the driver. He recently mentioned this on his twitter:

"I'm going to start with an apology, I'm sorry for this negative message guys, its just that on days like today I can..."

The actor later told TOI "I had to drop my son to school. We had been talking about the numerous cars on road these days. And he was telling me how he wished that the roads were safe enough for him to cycle to school. After I dropped him, I was on my way to work.

I was sitting in my car, in the usual Juhu traffic, when I saw a driver carelessly throw his empty pack of cigarettes on the road. I sat there quietly for about 5 seconds, before I just had to get out of my car, pick up the packet and throw the packet back at the driver's face. I dared him to throw rubbish on the ground again.

The man was very scared. He knew exactly what he had done. I know it for a fact that he will think twice before littering the streets of Mumbai again."

He added that he had nothing against the city, he just wanted a cleaner place to live and a better place as more people are getting attracted to the city.

"Believe me, I am no angel. And I am not perfect either. I drive my car daily, I fly in planes and I even leave the light on at times. But I promise my son every day when he asks me 'How much have you done for the planet today?' that I would do my best to conserve energy as I possibly can," revealed Akshay.

Akshay concluded by saying "I completely understand that our government doesn't exactly provide us with every little thing to keep the city clean. But that doesn't mean that we shouldn't do our little bit. One can look at it in two ways - Mumbai has so many people that it's dirty or Mumbai has so many people, they keep it clean. All it takes is a little care and attention."
